Breakfast was lovely we got it delivered to our room. We were at a wedding in another venue in the town, this hotel was perfect for us. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was lovely
We had wanted to check in a little early to get ready for the wedding we were attending as we had driven across the country but unfortunately they didn't have any rooms ready, which was a pity but of course not their fault since they are clear about check in times. The staff let us use the bathrooms in the lobby to get ready which were quite big, clean and worked well for us.

Nice location with lovely gardens.
Food and drink is over priced for nothing special.
Unfortunately we also were very ill in the morning after something we ate at dinner. We then couldn’t eat breakfast either.

The staff and service at the step house was just exceptional, Cait the proprietor went out of her way to make our stay so special, we had a beautiful meal in the restaurant and looking forward to returning.

Check-in was very quick and easy; room was beautiful, spacious, and clean, and the overall look & feel of the hotel was lovely. It is a charming establishment in a scenic Irish town, and worth a visit if you are in the area.
The service/staff, although very nice, were extremely slow, even at quieter times. A request for afternoon coffee in the bar took 15 minutes to get. The full Irish breakfast was not presented well ("thrown together" as we'd say) and a little sparse looking on the plate. There were no dairy alternatives for cereal or coffee/tea, which is a little unusual in this day and age – especially as the hotel were planning for a crowd to visit for a wedding that day.

loved the location , weather was great and beautiful part of the country. food was good if bar menus was a little limited
needed to keep curtains closed as room and bathroom overlooked by other rooms , blinds would help . showers took a while to hear but were amazing when they did

Friendly staff, particularly in the bar. Delicious meal in the bar. Beautiful view from our room
Hot breakfast options are poor. Only 3 choices. Very limited. Need more vegetarian and vegan options.

Absolutely amazing hotel. I honestly cant say enough good about the place. From check in to check out everything was great. Its a beautiful little hotel. Food was so good. Out of the two nights we stayed there we had dinner and breakfast twice and lunch once and we couldn't fault any of the food. Absolutely delicious. The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful. You can stay in fancy hotels fancy castles or Spa resort places but you wont find a better place than this little gem. Thanks for everything guys.cant wait to visit again.

Beautifully restored and extended old building dating from 1808, with lovely gardens. Friendly and efficient staff, great service. Cosy bar. Big room with a large terrace which gets the morning sun. Dinner was absolutely delicious and the full Irish breakfast was the best I’ve ever had. We'll be back!
This review would have been a 10 apart from:
1) WiFi in the room was terrible. Just inside the bedroom door, I could get a signal for long enough to download the papers, so I could read them on the fantastic terrace,
2) the grout in the shower needs a bit of attention. It’s out of keeping with the rest of the high standard of decor throughout the building.

Lovely garden
Out of their way friendly staff
Boutique setting
Prefer somewhere different to eat such nice meal than bar area
To make a more special event.

3rd stay & did not disappoint. Welcoming friendly staff, comfortable spacious room, delicious breakfast. Always enjoy Borris for walks & close to Kilkenny

Breakfast was fresh, the hot food was piping hot and everything tasted very good . Very clean all over .
The breakfast menu offered a selection of homemade bread but when I asked for sourdough bread the only available option was brown bread. The bar food wasn't really up to the standard of everything else in the hotel.
