We loved the restaurant hub area and the tennis court.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the toned widows were a huge positive to keep them cool, the ceiling fan did the trick and this is something we were hesitant about. The food was delicious and definitely substantial portions. What made this place a great stay was the staff, they are attentive and kind. I had such a lovely 3 nights here, I could have stayed longer as it is so relaxing
Beach could have been easier to access, would have been amazing to have some sort of pier to get out into the rockless water to swim. There could do with more lighting around the apartments for the dark nights

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Samloem Laguna Resort. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially Niels, who was always there to make sure we had everything we needed. The manager, Mike, was also very charismatic and helpful.
The value for money at Samloem Laguna Resort is the best on the island. We had breakfast included, which was amazing - huge portions and delicious. Meals from the menu were also amazing - we mainly ate Khmer food, which was delicious and huge portions for the best price on the island. The rooms were very comfortable and clean.
We initially planned to stay for 6 days, but we extended for 14 days. As digital nomads, my girlfriend and I found the perfect place with great internet right next to the beach with incredible sunsets. I would definitely recommend Samloem Laguna Resort to anyone, not just digital nomads.
Here are some specific things that I loved about my stay:
- The attentive and friendly staff, especially Niels
- The delicious food, both breakfast and dinner
- The comfortable and clean rooms
- The great value for money
- Good wifi
- The location, right next to the beach with incredible sunsets
I would highly recommend Samloem Laguna Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay on Koh Rong Samloem.

Real cast away vacation experience. Not next to other resorts, perfect for jungle, private beach and finding yourself.

the staff was super friendly and made me feel so welcomed. The facilities were very clean and everything was perfect to have a few chill days on the island. The food was also very reasonable priced, especially compared to other restaurants on the island and the food was also very good!
They also provide tours which also are very reasonably priced!
its a bit far from the ‚main‘ beach. but you dont really need to go ther anyways, the hotel has everything you need.

We had a really relaxing time staying here. It is located on the far end of Sacaren Bay so make sure you get the boat to Soon Noeng pier or you’re in for a hefty walk, but once you get there it’s worth it.
The hotel is located right on the waterfront with gorgeous views of the sea and beach. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food so tasty! We had many options to choose from as part of our complimentary breakfast (I would highly recommend the rice porridge with fruit which is like a British rice pudding).
Each room is its own little bungalow compete with a large comfy bed and nice en-suite bathroom. There’s even a porch with two swinging chairs to enjoy the views from.
As the whole island is run off generators, the rooms do not come with AC, just a big ceiling fan. Although this wouldn’t usually be a deal breaker for us, it was incredibly hot on the island when we visited (in the 30’s) so we found that our room was often too hot to be comfortable in. This wouldn’t put he off staying again though given how nice the resort is.

The staff in the resort is very kind and helpful. Rooms (we stayed at panorama suites) are really comfortable and well-structured. There are four dogs in the complex who are very friendly with the guests, but can get intimidating with the Khmer people passing by, as they are watchdogs. We appreciated the breakfast selection and its taste; generally, the meals are quite tasty here. Also, there are special dinners (barbecue, burgers and pizza) three times a week which spice the dinner up. Location is quite good; while it is only 10 minutes walk to Saracen Bay (ferry comes here), it is still far enough stay out of the loud crowds and music from there. You can book a totally amazing boat tour for only $17 which brings you snorkeling, fishing and swimming with the fluorescent plankton. You can also refill drinkable water to save plastics but the machine unfortunately provided only pretty warm water.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There has been a new general manager appointed to the resort on 1 April who really seems to be making good changes.
Everything around the resort seems to be a bit punk-ish. You can easily wait for your food for 20-30 minutes (even eggs for breakfast). We've stayed for 10 days, and they have not re-supplied the beer until our day 6 (the sad part is that they did not care about it). While the rooms were comfortable, the AC was missing - it gets hot inside, and the fan is not enough. Although they advertise hot water (and warn you that especially with more guests showering, there might be its shortage), we haven't experienced even warm water for a single day in 10 days. The private beach is unfortunately a joke; there is a lot of rocks at the entrance to the sea and sharp barnacles on the pier. We both got hurt here. For swimming, there are way better beaches on the island (Sandy, Lazy, Saracen). Power outages in the room were common, also WiFi experienced intermittent moments of downtime, lasting about 10-15 mins to couple of hours, but management promised new cable, so this issue will hopefully not happen to you. P. S. Get rid of tennis court, and get swimming pool instead. P. P. S. We trust the new manager, come July 2023 and I think you will come to way different place than we did.

Michael, Darling, Bikash and the rest of the team were all really lovely and very welcoming throughout our stay - really can't fault them at all. Each took the time to get to know us and provided an efficient and personable service.
The rooms and villas were in fantastic condition and really had a luxury feeling about them. Rooms were clean inside and fresh water available free of charge. Wifi was also great.
There's a secluded Beach 15m past the property that is great for guests. Breakfast each day was really good, we only ate an evening meal there once during our stay as we were often elsewhere exploring the island so ate whilst we were out but the evening food was great when we had it.
The only downside, which isn't the fault of the staff or resort as such, is the walk to the resort. Distance wise it isn't bad at all, but can be tricky to find on your first walk to the resort.
The government need to invest into the infrastructure of the island and build more paths/roads, but perhaps the resort could build some temporary wooden signs to guide guests over to the resort.

Our room, it had stunning views over the bay.
most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good but slow in arriving. you have to remember you’re on island time.

Very nice staff, that is always willing to help. We tried both villa and regular room and both were super clean and spacious. Free snorkeling equipment. Free water refill. Very good food. Breakfast included. Nice private location with private beach.
Electricity sometimes did not work. No hot shower the whole stay. We sometimes waited for the food more than hour, but to be fair they were always really sorry and provided us with free fruit plate. It was very nice stay for us, but these things make it a bit worse for us.

Beautiful bungalow and great terrace, jungle view from the windows, comfy bed, and fine breakfast. Nature's surroundings are very calm and relaxing. The staff and owner were super helpful and friendly as the circumstances allowed.
The location is super far from all action, around 40 min walk, in the morning you can't walk cause water comes by the shore and there is no way to walk until 2-3 pm ( it might depend on the season). During our stay, the sea has been very wavy, and going by boat taxi was unsafe. By the beaches, much plastic rubbish-It would be nice if resort staff would be daily taking care of it.
The leaving day was unsafe to travel by boat, so we ask to deliver just our big bags to port. And we walked with small bags to the pier. However, our bags came all soaked and twice heavier(they forgot to cover them with plastic bags). No common sense. It made our experience very poor, cause most of the clothes were damaged by salty water.

For those who want to spend quiet time, this hotel is very suitable. This environment surrounded with nature made me feel escape from daily life.
The volume of breakfast is not good enough. Wish it had been more.

Enjoy my stay at Laguna, highly recommend this place

The food was great and the views. I like how it is far away, you are communicated with by the resort when you book that it is far out and it’s a walk to the main strip. You’re also communicated with about the hot water. So communication is good before you arrive.
The staff are okay, very laid back and not really phased about much. Can’t really answer your questions if you have any. The rooms were average. Stains on the bedsheets

Friendly staff, awesome rooms and an amazing island. Would come again ;)
