the vibes!! this is a real backpacker spot! meet other travelers and all, really enjoyed my stay over there!

Informality
Tasy is obviously the state most British in character but my initial room allocation was in a below ground level dorm, that collected particulate matter from cars in the parking lot . It was something from 19 th century London! It was so filthy it ought to be condemned

This was a basic backpackers hostel with friendly staff and lovely young backpackers from around the world travelling Australia. We are two retirees in our mid sixties who had booked one of the new self contained chalets around the back. They were marvelous with clean, comfortabe rooms with fridge, microwave and ensuite. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Very impressed.

Location was good...nice & close to the city & public transport. Within the hostel, there were lots of seating & relaxation areas. Wifi worked well. Good kitchen facilities.
Would have liked somewhere to hang my towel in the bedroom...the bunks don't have enough railings for everyone's towels. An individual bedlamp would have been useful...with everyone coming back to the room at different times, some people were sleeping so you can't turn on the room light without disturbing others.

The hostel was overall pretty clean, and the shower had warm water and good water pressure. It was nice to be able to get a coffee on-site, and the location was great. I liked that they had a sink in the private room, which greatly helped. The hostel was fairly quiet at night, and we were able to sleep well.
Even though the bed was comfortable, it was extremely squeaky. It is very loud if you move in bed at all. So anytime my husband moved, I'd wake up. Our room was number 7, I wonder if there is anything they can do to reduce the bed noise. Also, there was only one outlet in the bed, making it impossible to charge both of our cell phones.

Ambiance, staff friendly and helpful, big kitchen open all day. Overall clean enough
the room in which i stayed was smaller than expected and not all beds have plugs next to them.

This time we had the Frog Apartment upstairs in the main building. The bed is firm and comfortable. We had a small table and chairs in the bedroom and stools in kitchenette.
Old and grimy-looking. The separate kitchenette is better than the main kitchen. Food prep items are lacking.

Top shelf private 4 bunkbed bedroom. Friendly ppl. Nice common area. Great backpacker vibe to the place
A little expensive but I went for the private bathroom

We were in the suites out the back. Excellent fresh clean rooms

Location is convenient and workers are nice
It was not very clean, lots of dust and pretty noisy after hours. Not space in the room so you end up putting your stuff on the floor. Not power outlets close if you are on a bunk bed on top. The kitchen was very packed and not clean.

Very social and good location
Not clean and mainly no air con or fan in the room. I was in the 14 bed and it smelled bad and was so hot. It was way over 30 degrees that day.

We had a lovely stay at the Pickled Frog. We arrived by bus from Launceston and only had to walk up a few minutes, so the location was great. It is also very close to the city centre and cafes and restaurants. The lady at the check-in desk was very friendly. The room was very spacious, with a big kitchen and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. We'll definitely be back when visiting Hobart.
Some wine glasses or normal glasses instead of mugs would've been nice :)

Had a parcel delivered to the hostel prior to my arrival. That worked great. Besides that nothing special.
Doors opening by code (mechanical) - worked good, as it is to be expected. (Not like the hippie ones in the bigger cities where you need an app or have to use a touchscreen which often didn't work!)
Only one toilet (for each gender) on the (ground) floor, but never had to wait. Seemed to only have three showers (upstairs, for the whole building?), but also haven't had to wait. Toilets and showers equipped with foam soap dispenser.
24h kitchen. Stoves with touchscreen control, so no rubbed off signs and guessing which knob is for which stove and where is min and where is max like in some places.
Vivid social life in the dining area.
TV and Netflix in the living room.
Supermarket in the same street as well as many restaurants.
Walls seemed to be thin, so I heard people talking in the dining area (till late in the night), someone even played piano at around midnight...
Kitchen knives not sharp. A knife for bread would be nice. No baking oven (but a microwave). People tend to use the provided dishes and just put them in the sink.
A bit away from the centre of the town, but the price was good! (I walked there from Rosny Park.)
For whatever reason there were people sleeping in the living room (every night; I stayed 2 nights, don't know why booking says 1 night only?).
Didn't see any lockers, but the size of the room was big enough to put everything next to the bed.
The showers don't have doors to lock. There is only a curtain - you can either hang your stuff inside, so it might become wet or outside where it might become lost. ^^'

Big communal space, early check-in, you can come and go as you like. 14-bed dorm sounded terrible but people were actually very respectful. Plenty of sockets. I slept well. Very nice staff and wifi worked well. Showers have soap. Good location, close to everything.
The place is also a pub, so it can get noisy. There are lockers but they're located in the corridor. Beds have no lights. Kitchen was crowded when I tried to use it, also storage space for food is limited, as many people seem to live there permanently. Showers only on the second floor and not many of them, sometimes all occupied.

The downstairs area, where people can lounge and socialise is very good.
Has lots of tables and couches with books and games to spend time.
The kitchen is huge and provides good cooking facilities.
The reception lady was good in giving me a tour of the facilities.
The room was very basic with no storage facilities for bags or other small items.
The toilet area was inadequate with only one basin for the entire floor in Men's room.
Loud noise from outside at night time which can disturb your sleep.

Host was super lovely and kind, and she even helped us out with our car and gave us recommendations in the area. Place was a little small but it was comfortable enough! Enough toilets and cubicles that you didn't have to wait to get your business done :) will definitely re-visit again!
Would have liked another outlet/plug in the room, but otherwise the lobby has available ones so it's just something minor

The private room was very modern can clean. After-hours check-in was easy.
The bed was a bit hard and the pillows were very flat.

The reception has a very strong smell of tobacco.

I felt at home. Looked after and safe.
There is something in this hostel that makes everybody be inclusive.
I don't know exactly what, might be the fire, the colours, the frongs hanging around.
I love it

Private suites are very high quality for a good price. Atmosphere is great. Service is particularly good.

There were a lot of common spaces, that I didn't use at all since I was waking up early and coming back late in the evening. I like the graffiti style on the walls of the corridors, very playful. Nice
The room with 8 beds was a bit too small, it was very packed. There was a lot of noise in the room, with people talking loudly and coming in and out of the room late in the night, not caring at call at people sleeping. Please do something to the male's bathroom door at the first floor: it slams continuosly while closing.

really social and comfortable hostel! great communal areas and kitchen space
average beds, have to change your own sheets

nice big room and easy to check in and out
there were no amenities like not even hand soap in the bathroom. I feel like you could add just a couple things like soap, shampoo, conditioner and maybe some tea in the kitchen to make he Frog Apartment more comfy. overall it was great
