THIS PROPERTY NOW HAS A NEW TOTAL A/C SYSTEM FOR 2024!
Blue Lotus Cottage is a special beach cottage, custom built in 2005, and only one short block back from the ocean with a wide and direct ocean view.
A short walk (100+ steps) takes you to a small sandy beach area. Kekaha is small residential town, away from the crowds and major resorts, situated at the base of the Waimea Canyon. You will definitely get the island experience in this people friendly town, with Hawaiian neighbors. Kick back on the shaded ocean view lanai, in comfy lounge chairs, and enjoy the ocean breeze and look for whales. Enjoy the best sunsets the island has to offer, and get the least amount of rain and humidity on your vacation. With less than 15 inches of rain a year, this is the place to be when the rain is falling on other parts of the island.
The open floor plan incorporates the kitchen, great room, and dining area....all with a great ocean view. Walls of windows capture the trade winds, keeping the cottage comfortable.
The kitchen has a large island with stools and granite countertops. The kitchen is fully equipped with newer appliances, including a glass top range, fridge, dishwasher, oven, and microwave. Cooking meals at home is a pleasure. Every kitchen small appliance is here from coffee grinder to rice cooker, food processor, and a blender to make that island drink.
Beautifully furnished with wicker, sea grass, teak wood, island decor and art. Maple wood floors and fans in every room. A master bedroom with it's own bath, newer King bedroom furniture and mattress. There is also a second TV in the master bedroom. The second bedroom has NOVA MEMORY FOAM KING BED, and lots of soft pillows for added comfort. This room can also be made into a twin room upon request. There is a trundle bed in the 3rd bedroom, also with memory foam. All of the linens are new 500 ct. cotton sateen, and the towels are thick and thirsty. The personality and charm of this cottage will make your vacation one of the best experiences ever.
Kekaha Beach Park, about 1 mile away, offes lifeguard safety. Salt Pond Beach Park, about 15 minutes away, is a perfect crescent shaped beach park, which is ideal for small children with small waves. Polihale State Beach is for the adventurous beach goer, looking for that wild dune backed beach. After a bumpy 5 mile dirt road, you are rewarded with a secluded beach that is, to many, the most beautiful on the island.
At the base of the Waimea Canyon, you have direct access to fantastic scenery, and miles of hiking opportunities. It is often been called the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific'.
Hanapepe Art Night, every Friday night, is for the art lover and only 10 minutes away. It's restored galleries have many art treasures for viewing and purchase.
Waimea, only two miles away, has a grocery store, restaurants, and a movie theater. Don't miss the fresh shrimp from the nearby Sunrise Shrimp Farm. Within minutes, there are several restaurants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. For a special night out, the Poipu Resort area offers you numerous upscale dining and shopping opportunities.
Fifteen minutes to Port Allen marina, this is the starting point for the Na Pali Coast boat tours. Also nearby by, the Kauai Coffee offers taste testing and tours. There is also a public golf course that offers inexpensive golfing, in a historic hill top setting, offering challenging golf and fantastic vistas across the island.
But most of all, this community is a beach town.
You are guaranteed to have the driest and sunniest weather on the island each day, and access to 15+ miles of nearly deserted beach. Mornings are generally electric blue skies with light breezes. The sunsets are only seen from this part of the island, and they make for a memorable end to another day in paradise.
Come and visit for awhile, and you may find yourself wanting to stay forever. People fall in love with Kauai, and often come back every year, to spend their days by the sea in the sun and surf. Why not give it a try? You can spend a week here, for the price of two nights at one of the resort hotels.

Nice place close to Waimea canyon. Great hiking and proximity to NaPali coast. We enjoyed our stay.

Everything and more! We had a wonderful stay. The house was just perfect for 3 adults and one 10 year old. There were a lot of amenities and it was so nice not to have to rush out to buy shampoo or TP. Check in was smooth and we had no issues at all. We would definitely stay here again!
5.0
The house was very well appointed. We loved spending time on this side of the island vs the more popularized areas, it was easy getting to the other areas, but always nice to come back to a peaceful area. The beach across the street is great for a late evening stroll. We loved the breakfast spots nearby. We would stay here again next time!

We had a wonderful stay in Kekaha. This house had everything we needed while we were there! It’s just a short trip to Kekaha beach park where we spent many evenings. The beach is not crowded and the kids had a blast! This house was minutes from the small boat harbor where our Nepali boat tour launched from which was by far our favorite day. It wasn’t far to go hike Waimea Canyon either. But I recommend lots of water and maybe don’t try to hike to the bottom of the canyon like we did, unless you are really experienced hikers (which we clearly are not!) Great places to eat over in Waimea as well. My husbands favorite was the Lava burger over at Gina’s Anykine Grinds Cafe. We had an amazing time!

It was super clean. Had everything you could want in the kitchen. The beach supplies were in great shape. Beds were really nice. You can walk to the beach, but it's more of a shoreline with sand. Great location if you plan to hike in Waimea a lot. We did our beach time in Poipu and got our groceries in Lihue. I found driving really easy and pleasant on this side of the island.

We had the BEST stay. Scott was quick to answer any questions we had. The house was very clean. Great neighbors and neighborhood. We got to know quite a few of the locals. Extremely friendly and helpful with ideas for our short vacation. The kitchen has everything you need as well as a few spices and condiments. The beds are super comfortable with brand new bedding. The house is a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed nights there watching the sunset. We would love to come back to this beautiful home. Thank You Scott for allowing us to stay at your home. The location of the home was amazing. Being able to wake up to the sounds of the ocean was beautiful. The owner is very accommodating by providing all the beach amenities, cooking amenities, etc. It was an amazing stay

At the end of each busy day, we returned to this well-appointed house just a short walk from the ocean in a quiet neighborhood. For five us (two couples and one other adult), it was the perfect. The interior has beautiful hardwood floors, separate A/C in each bedroom as well as the front room and a fully stocked kitchen complete with spices to make delicious home-made bread and meals. A front porch with lounge chairs to sit and watch the sea. There is also a nice size washer and dryer in a small shed beside the carport.
As advertised, while it was raining on much of the north side of Kauai, our house at best got a few showers during the day but mostly had sunny or partly cloudy skies. If you’re looking for a nice quiet bungalow-style house away from the hustle and bustle of the main towns on the Garden Isle, this fits the bill perfectly!

Really enjoyed the stay. The property was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Beach is only a block away so we were grateful for beach chairs, beach towels, etc.
Property manager was responsive and very helpful.
Wonderful stay. Will stay again.

The house was lovely. The neighbor has a puppy mill and dogs whined and barked at all hours of the day and night. I finally had to resort to wax ear plugs and white noise on the highest volume. It was unfortunate .

This house is a home, very cozy, well kept, and very clean. We loved it, property manager was very good in communication. The only thing that was not represented well was the walk to the beach, it was stated 150 steps, and you could not do that had to walk to the end of the block and down. Loved it enough to stay there again.

We spent 9 days in this property and it was perfect for our needs, which included two couples. The house was impeccably clean and the kitchen was very stocked with all the utensils, pans, and dishes you could need. We very much appreciated the grill and the washer and dryer. There were ample fluffy bathroom and beach towels. We used the beach chairs and cooler many times. We spent a lot of time on the front porch, and there is a direct ocean view as the school's playground is right in front of the house. There's a small beach about 100 steps away, and the Kekaha Beach Park is just about a mile away and was a great close beach.
We enjoyed the small town location. There are several restaurants just 5 minutes away in Waimea, although only two that are open for supper.
We would absolutely stay here again.

The cottage worked perfectly for us: well equipped, clean, comfortable, porch views of the ocean with the school across the street, and far from the tourist crunch (about 45 minutes from the airport.) An ideal location if you want easy access to Waimea Canyon which, as birdwatchers and hikers, we did. The barking of some neighborhood dogs was super annoying at times but overall, the house was a great choice. Thanks!

Home was perfect for our family of six adults. Clear and simple entry instructions was great. We loved sitting on porch and watching the ocean throughout the day. We really appreciated having a clean house with air conditioning along with the little touches like ziplock baggies for lunches to take on our hikes. Only challenge for us was that so many of our activities ended up being farther away from the house than we anticipated, so it made for long drives daily. Other than that we loved it!
5.0
We enjoyed staying in this house. Comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen, private backyard, nice front deck and laundry facilities. It was great that they had beach items to use: chairs, umbrella, cooler.
5.0
This property is wonderful! Exactly as advertised, super clean, well-stocked....perfect. We used the Tommy Bahama sand chairs, umbrella and cooler every day. Kitchen has wonderful knives, pans, dishes, and there are fluffy soft towels throughout the house. Washer/dryer with detergent and dryer sheets provided were extremely useful given our 10 days, the Kauai humidity and days at the beach. We even used the clothesline. All the cleaning supplies and spices/condiments were appreciated There was even small amounts of sun screen and aloe left in the laundry area, which we really appreciated. There is a nice Weber BBQ for grilling. They have truly thought of everything! The front bedroom does NOT have air conditioning, so sleeping with that door open is almost required, but all bedrooms, living room and dining room have super nice ceiling fans that work great! WE LOVED OUR STAY!

Nice, well maintained, well appointed place on south side of the island. Quiet neighborhood, across from the shoreline. Close to south side attractions. Recommended.

Loved the cottage itself. Neighbors were great especially Lala the furry friend. Kitchen was well stocked (except for measuring cups🙂🙂), felt like the appliances were brand new, knives were sharp. The kitchen both a drip coffee maker and a bodum which fit our needs perfectly. The stove did not have an exhaust fan. The bedroom with the day was needed drawer storage and a small table. Master bedroom was great enough storage. Plenty of hangers! Just a personal preference but the shower heads would have been easier if it was a fixed shower head. Cottage itself was wonderful. The air conditioning units and were strategically placed. They worked fine and was sufficient to cool the whole house. Loved the ceiling fans. We liked being able to walk across the street to the water. Enjoyed sitting out on the porch. Enjoyed having washer/dryer. Property manager was easy to work with. Left clear instructions and utilized the books about Kauai. They were very helpful. Chicken Barrel was a fun place to eat and hang out. Loved Jojo’s shaved ice. We went there twice!!! Market is also close by. We even went to a farmers market by the community college to get fresh vegetables! We explored the entire island and did 4 hikes! Poipu was our favorite because we were able to see the sea turtles come to rest at dusk!
2.0
I explicitly stated that I needed a place that was accessible. I knew there were stairs in the front but I thought the back led directly into the house. And I thought there were only 3 stairs in the front. Turns out there were 6 stairs in the front and back which made getting in and out of the house almost impossible. Perhaps this was a misunderstanding on the part of the broker but it seriously affected my stay. I also thought the photos were deceiving and made the beach and ocean appear a lot closer than it actually was. The house was clean and pleasant but my trip was ruined because of the accessibility issue.
5.0
The property had all the amenities needed, washer, dryer, lots of towels for beach and bathing. My Mom liked it was across the street from a church. Comfortable beds, air conditioning in living room and two larger bedrooms. We were able to fix meals fully stocked kitchen with cooking utensils. It was far enough out from Poipu to escape the traffic, but close enough that we were able to get there quickly. Lots of places to visit on the South end of the island and the sunsets were easily seen from the Hwy. There was three of us but plenty of room for 6. Will consider renting this cottage again in the future.
5.0
Exactly as listed. Abundant appliances and supplies. We never needed to contact anyone. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Our family of five stayed here for a little over a week and found it to be perfectly situated to give us access to the beach, hiking, and enjoying quiet together as a family. The open layout provided space to eat, play games, and relax together. With three bedrooms, the common area space, and outdoor seating on the lanai, everyone had a place to retreat on their own.

Return renter. Love this house. Seems like my home away from home. Near enough to the beach (walking distance) to go watch the sunrises and sunsets, plus beachcombing when the tides are out. Bedding and cooking utensils are all there except for the automatic rice cooker :-) had to go old school and cook on the stove. Hoping to be be back there again in another 3-4 years. Note: the vehicle in the garage did take away parking space (especially when the school people parked in front of the house), because we had a couple of rental vehicles between us 5 siblings.

The pictures don't do it justice. House was beautiful and very clean.

Minutes away from the ocean, in a quiet neighborhood, this very well equipped home has everything you need. Conveniently located for visiting Waimea Canyon and Kokee Park, it was our favourite spot on Kauai.
5.0
We’ve been lucky enough to stay here twice and both times have been truly amazing.
Most recently our family of 4 with two younger kids stayed 8 nights. Everything from pre trip questions, to check in, to the place itself was everything you could ask for. The host is extremely responsive and helpful. The house is fully stocked with every possible accessory. We especially appreciated the pac n play for babies to sleep in. We can’t go back soon enough!

We started our stay in Princeville and ended it in Kekaha. We definitely prefer the south end of the island. It is a lot more laid back, warmer and definitely drier. The house is cute and cozy ❤️. There are AC wall units in two of the 3 bedrooms and one in the living room; they work great! The beds are comfy, there's plenty of towels and extra gear for the beach (coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, snorkeling gear, body boards etc.). Two things I'd suggest to the home owner is: update the master bath. It is outdated and the tub is peeling and desperately needs replaced. The main bath is in better shape. Second, think about providing small dressers in the bed rooms. We used the TV stand in the master, but when you are staying for any length of time it is nice to have a place to put your folded cloths. Otherwise, great stay for us, this is the 2nd time we've rented a house where Scott was the host. Lastly, the listing needs to be changed to reflect the actual check in time, it's 4pm, not 3pm.
5.0
It was super chill...mostly locals. The view is somewhat obstructed with a church or school infront of the house. You can see the ocean in the distance when standing on the left side of the porch. Otherwise great place with everything you need! You must have a car as nothing is walking distance.
4.0
Our goal was to be close to our dive charter in Koloa but in a quiet location. This cottage provided what we needed to support a snorkeling and diving week: Beds, baths, washing machine and dryer, clean kitchen for food prep. We did have a rental car to get around the island.
The smallest bedroom does not have an A/C unit, but a floor fan in addition to ceiling fan. I recommend keeping all the rooms open so the cool air is shared throughout the living space.
The document on the counter directed us to contact an on-island property manager. We noticed two broken fixtures and communicated them to the manager. We received a response that the fixtures are noted. When a toilet clogged and the onsite plunger was ineffective, we did not receive a response to our commmunication. We went to the nearby grocery for supplies and corrected the toilet ourselves. A little hiccup in a big week.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was extremely well-stocked with things we never would have even thought to have considered. The house is a bit dated, but the flow worked well for our family. This area of the island is not resort-y and has a very local feel. It is also farther away from the more touristy locations, but it is located close to Waimea Canyon (amazing hikes!), and we loved being close to JoJo’s Shave Ice. Also found several yummy restaurants nearby. It’s a great option if you don’t mind a bit of driving and want to get a more authentic-feeling experience on Kuaui with room for your family to spread out.

This property was the perfect place to experience Kauai! We loved being so close to the ocean, the very quiet neighborhood, and the sunsets over the water. A quick walk and we were on a beach good for walking and enjoying the beautiful skies.
A quick drive to a sandy beach North of the property and we could wade in the water and enjoy the waves.
The property was exactly as promised and the kitchen had a good amount of cookware so we could cook and eat healthy meals all week. We went on a fishing trip out of Eleele and came back with Ahi for several days and had the perfect place to cook and enjoy. Our son and his girlfriend joined us for a few days and having two bathrooms was a lovely convenience. I enjoyed the fact that it was away from Lihue traffic, but not too far to the airport and other beaches and amenities in that area.
Waimea Canyon is astounding! One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and it is so close to the house we went up easily by car to explore different hikes.
The property owner provided so much information and left cool books in the home for our use! We snorkeled at several beaches and hiked and really had an amazing time!
Mahalo for sharing your beautiful house with us!

Such a cute beach house! Very clean and perfect size for young families. Great stocked kitchen and good location. Had a great winter stay! Ample street parking.

We enjoyed our week at the blue lotus cottage! It’s nicely furnished, it’s in a nice location on the dry coast, close to the beach and the Waimea canyon. We also appreciated the full laundry, 6 beach chairs, boogie boards and the local people!
5.0
Very cute and cozy house. Close to the beach, easy walk. The building across the street cuts into your view of the ocean and sunsets but the owner provides great beach chairs to take each night to see the sunsets. Beds comfortable. The one downside was the sheets in master bedroom. They seemed old, thin and did not fit the bed. Not a deal breaker, we would stay here again!

This was one of the better maintained VRBO properties I've stayed at. Very well appointed, clean and comfortable.
5.0
It was refreshing to stay outside of the touristy areas in the small beachside town of Kekaha. The house was perfect with the three bedrooms and a great front porch to watch the sunrise. Clean and tidy with everything one needed, including beach chairs and towels. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
4.0
The house was good and a lot of space to accommodate larger groups. My family enjoyed having A/C. We used the beach towels/supplies a lot and the hiking poles came in clutch during our hike on the Na Pali Coast because of mud. Great access to Waimea Canyon for hikers. If you are booking tours, make sure you do your research about the location and drive times, as this house is located at the extreme end of the island and there is no loop road. I personally enjoyed the more remote location, but some in my group would have preferred to be nearer to larger cities and tourist attractions. The location is not touristy and you are directly next to a school. I expected more noise during school hours but it was not bad at all. The school does somewhat inhibit the view of the ocean. Neighborhood was quiet but there are some loud barking dogs and roosters, which should be expected, but members in my group had a difficult time sleeping because of the animal noise. We had two rental cars and parking was OK. We couldn't fit both cars in the driveway since the property owner has a vehicle parked there, but there is some parking in front of the house. Overall, the house was great and I would recommend for travelers looking for a quiet/non touristy stay or for hikers/outdoor adventurers looking to hike in Waimea Canyon area or explore lesser known beaches. Also some great local food in Hanapepe and Waimea.
5.0
Kekaha is the perfect place to stay in Kauai and this was the perfect house in Kekaha. It is far enough away from all the touristy attractions, where you are not overwhelmed with people, but it is close enough to get to some of the best places on the island like Waimea canyon and Poipu Beach. Everything you need for essentials for the home or a couple miles away in the town of Waimea.
The home itself is one of the best homes we have stayed in on Kawai or anywhere else around the world.
The home is extremely clean, and the beds are very comfortable, and the whole house is just amazing. While we only had the two of us on this trip, this home is big enough to be comfortable for six people
If you are looking to come to Kauai, stay in Kekaha. If you stay in the car, stay in this beautiful home.

This cottage was perfect for my husband and I, and my parents and brother! It’s in more of a residential neighborhood so it’s more on the quiet side which we liked. The walk to the beach is only about a block away. Loved walking down in the early morning and watching the waves crash against the rocks. My mom really enjoyed having her coffee every morning on the lanai. We found some excellent, authentic food in Waimea, less than 10 mins drive from the cottage. Island taco, a short drive down the road, was delicious! The cottage looked even better than in the pictures. It was clean, and the AC kept it nice and cool. The king bed in the master was comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would possibly need to make food at the cottage. The beach chairs, boogie boards, and umbrellas were perfect for our day at Polihale state park. We had a wonderful time on this beautiful island and would definitely stay here again!
