The stay was very pleasant in a quiet area, but reachable by bicycle or even walk. The host is very friendly and helpful. Thank you, Abel.

The host of The Novelo, Abel, is amazing. So kind, easy-going and prepared to do everything for you. We were able to ride his bikes and we got free drinkwater whenever we needed it.
The swimming pool and the room itself were a little bit dirty, but still okay!
4.3
On the sea side with a fresh breeze. Very nice people and a good dipping pool. Bikes for free and a good kayak available (but difficult to get out from shore and not a lot to see).
We did not understand that this is an eco-property which essentailly means badly built, poor plumbing and wiring and NO AC. Hard to sleep with fan noise or without!

We had a lovelytime there! Amazing host and a beautiful place. We loved the bikes, the pool and also the pets 😊
GO SLOW😉

Absolutely loved this place. For me it was perfect 👌 on the far south end of the island away from everything. I loved it as I liked to see the stars at night and the peace and quiet. The bikes are perfect for getting around on and Abel was kind enough to run as about a couple of times as well. The pool was nice and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.
Personally the lack of air-conditioning was not an issue for me as the 3 fans were fine but may not be good for everyone.
4.3
location was a little quieter as out from the main centre but easily accessible by bicycle. Lovely host Abel who kindly picked me and my luggage up and dropped me back at the water taxi.
nothing really, it was just missing a kettle and a toaster.

It was so quiet and peaceful.
Lots of space and enjoyed dipping my toes in the pool in the evening to help cool off.
Having bikes to use while there was very nice esp.since it was a bit of a hike from the village.
Hosts were very accommodating and picked us from the airport and when departing took us to the water taxi.
I cant wait to go back and spend a longer time
It wasn't exactly beachfront like i imagined but we found places to go easily enough.
We arrived when the sarghassam did which was unfortunate.

We loved the quiet location. Only an 8 minute bike ride to the central area in town. The bikes were even included with our reservation :) Very spacious and lovely swimming pool area. Very nice hosts. One of the few quiet places on the island.
4.3
I really loved staying here. It was peaceful and relaxing. The blue apartment is very comfortable and it was great having drinking water. There were bikes to use to get into town. The bike ride into town is lovely amongst the mangroves.
I liked everything!
4.3
great, spacious room with a kitchen! Clean pool on the property, Abel and Jennifer were great hosts, recommended us places to go on an island and rented bikes and kayaks! Also, the place is 10 min bike ride from the town which is awesome because it's nice and calm!
I took a bug spray as recommended but unfortunately I am all bitten up. Not sure if it's the problem around Novelo (due to being deep in the forest) or the island but man, I am itchy!

Adrián, the neighbor, was stepping in for the usual host. He was amazing. Literally checked in on us and helped us with everything we could have possibly needed. They provided bikes for free. Loaned us a kayak for free. Adrian and his brother put it in the water and carried it back for us when we were done. He dropped us off at the boat on our last day, in his golf cart. The pool was cool. The room was huge with a great kitchen. Seriously, best place we stayed on a 3 week trip. The host, Adrian, made the place. He claims the usual host is way better😂😊🙏
Honestly, nothing. Bring bug spray. If there's no breeze can be buggy by pool or walking there.
*the location is about a 5-10 minute bike ride from the action. We loved being on the quiet side of the island, but maybe not for everyone?

This will be a long review:
One thing to keep in mind before booking: if you're coming in from Belize City and require a ferry to Caye Caulker, the last boat leaves at 5:30pm. You might have to book a rental for the night in the city and then ride the ferry next day.
The kind host called a taxi to pick me up and take me to the ferry. Upon arriving at The Novelo, a woman who lived next door contacted my host. (I didn't have a Belizian sim card). Shortly after, I was greeted by Max, the host's son. He brought me to my rental, the 'Blue Abel'. He kindly welcomed me and explained all the things I needed to know about staying there. After he left, his kind and beautiful girlfriend greeted me. She answered all of my questions and we had a lovely conversation. She and Max live on the 2nd floor, right above the rental, so they were easily accessible. The host was also very kind and answered any questions I had. She even called me beautiful~ (Bless her heart~ ^_^*) The rental is very large and is located right on the beach. Inside is beautifully decorated with mosaic art, charming prints, lovely furniture, and a great library. The bathroom was beautifully designed, with hot water that never wavered. The wifi was very stable. There were no mosquitoes nor crawling bugs. I slept very, very well. It was dark outside and I was very hungry. No one was available to drive me by golf-cart, so I rode one of the bicycles. [I guess this was the one thing I didn't like: None of the bicycles were cleaned and/or prepared for use. They were caked in grey mud. I chose the bicycle with the least mud on it. Bad-part, fin.] TIP FOR RIDING THE BICYCLES AT NIGHT: There are no street lamps. The host has head-lamps for you to use. Regarding the large puddles; DO NOT RIDE AROUND THEM. The mud is soft and slippery, which might cause you to fall or get your shoes dirty. Ride through the puddles because there is stable ground that will support your ride-through.
THIS IS NOT NEGATIVE. I RAN OUT OF SPACE IN THE "WHAT DID YOU LIKE?" PART:
This key detail of the bike-usage will make your visit easier and you will find yourself eager to ride each time. I didn't mind the lumpy roads. They were made by nature.
The ferry ride was great and quite inexpensive. I took the last ferry which was a most amazing experience: Not only did I watch the sunset, but saw the sky fill up with stars. Total inspiration for poetry and romance. The ferry was full of really cool travelers; there was also a boom-box that played the best Reggae. When I arrived in Caye Caulker, it was at night. This place was unlike any I've ever been. A modern-day Studio Ghibli animated story could easily be based here. The island was bustling with friendly people out for the night, great music, and wonderful smells from various restaurants. Especially Steve's restaurant. He was bbq-ing customers' food. Getting a golf-cart taxi to The Novelo was a bit difficult: Drivers would say, "Oh, that's too far!", which I found hilarious because it's an island. Steve's colleague contacted a driver to take me to the Novelo. My driver was very kind. He told me about the relaxed vibe of the island and the people. Everyone pretty much gets along very well there: It's a melting-pot just like NYC, but everyone really treats one another as family. Not "like" family; but literally as* family. The locals were very friendly and I ate very, very delicious food. I highly recommend The Novelo and Caye Caulker. Don't hesitate to book your reservation there. The price is very good and I enjoyed my stay. I wish I stayed longer.

the quiet, the host, it has everything and Adrian welcomed us very well. we truly had the best time ever at this place.
we did not meet Abel the owner but I heard he is also very nice :)
I highly recommend this place for a stay in Caye Caulker
the water was not hot but Adrian did his best to resolve it
4.3
nice place, the location is good even though its not in the village. by bicicle its a fun 10 minute ride. able provides bikes free of charge, which eas great
we experienced both apartments. the bad side about rhem is rhat they are dark. more lights would make them much better. both are quite hot, fans were not enough especially in the green apartment.
4.3
There was plenty of space, bicycles and a kayak came with the property, good wifi, 100% green as off grid with full solar power, loads of books and lovely pool, drinking water supplied and Abel and Jennifer were lovely

I liked that I was provided a bike to travel into town, and the staff were available and accessible if I needed something!
4.3
The owners are great. Nice small Apt. Affordable.
Far from town.
4.3
Very nice for a solo traveller. The location is within a 10 minute bike ride of pretty much all the island, but still removed enough from the noise and bustle. I loved the bike ride through the mangroves into town and got to see more wildlife than I would have staying closer to the hub. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about Belize. Very affordably priced considering you get the apartment plus complementary bike while your there. I had a lovely time staying here.
While I was there, there was a small amount of construction going on for a new apartment. But this didn't cause me any issues as the work was scheduled during the day when I was mostly out, which I appreciate.
4.3
Property is away from the louder beach/club area so you could enjoy the peace and quiet. Bicycles available was a great feature. Abel was very friendly, helpful and always willing to help you get the most enjoyment out of your stay!
4.3
The privacy
The distance from town , how hot my room was when going to sleep.
4.3
Everything, from location (more quiet and secluded) to the people we we staying at. Awesome
Nothing really, the amount of mosquitoes around, but not much you can do about that though
4.3
This place is absolutely perfect and I feel so lucky to have found it. Not only is the location incredible, owners extremely helpful and accessible, but it is amazingly spacious and comes with bikes and kayaks. Super clean, plenty of room to feel like it is livable and has everything needed for a home away from home!
There was nothing that could be improved; it exceeded all my expectations. Thank you!
4.3
Abel, the host, was amazing. Since it is located further south of the village he offered us golf cart rides into town everyday. The walk is only about 25 mins but doing it several times a day can be hard. He checked on us every single day to make sure we didn't need anything. Pool was nice to cool off mid-day, and it was clean.
Only thing we would suggest is the second bed also had a foam topper. It is super hard and uncomfortable.
4.3
Good and quiet location on the island with great private dock beach.
Very relaxing place.
Large room on the ground floor.
No conditioner, very humid, lots of insects and mosquitos.
Beds and towels were not clean.
4.3
The apartment style rooms are custom built by the owner. They are really cool with amazing designs on the floors and walls. The quality of the room was amazing, the area was far enough away from the main village that it was quiet and peaceful. There are bikes to use and the owner drove us into town to meet our water taxi.
4.3
It is a hike out of town, but great to get away and feel the island how it might have been 20 years ago. Quiet.
The beds were super comfy. I enjoyed meeting the owners, they are lovely welcoming people.
4.3
Abel is an amazing host! The location was perfect for us - quiet and secluded, but just a short bike ride to everything else. Be sure to ask for headlamps. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
It would have been great to have a coffee maker in the room.
4.3
The host Abel and Jennifer were very pleasant too talk with and gave us a ride into town every day, wonderful place to stay, we really enjoyed it and the room was very unique, thanks again !
