We had a great time staying here at Higgins Beach for the 3rd year in a row. Great location, house has everything you need for a wonderful week at the beach.

A very sweet property situated within walking distant to the beach where we walked to everyday. A quiet street and close to restaurants and sites (like Two Lights). We had a lovely time in a beautiful place.

This is our 2nd year staying here for a week in August. Higgins Beach is such a special place and this is a great spot to relax and enjoy vacation. We have been coming here for over 30 years and stayed in many different houses but this one is exactly as described, clean, easy, good communication. We love it.

Cozy place that could use a bit of updating and refreshing.
The older couches had multiple layers of covers so not comfortable. Scratched furniture. House not clean when arrived and informed host of such.
Broken kitchen cabinet and left window, leaking porch roof, front door does not latch, broken trim on chimney, cracked plastic lawn chair, dirty beach wagon/cart. Kitchen could use some other items, tongs, small bowls.
Messy side porch with cleaning supplies left out. Strong smell of mothballs from closet. Host did not respond to communication after check in.
Good water pressure, quiet street and good location.
Not a great value at this price point with no linens provided. Snug bedrooms so fine for couple/small family.
Would recommend for friends/family!

We loved our week staying here. This is a cute little beach bungalow with everything we needed to enjoy a week at the beautiful Higgins Beach. The proximity to the beach is easy and the front porch with its party lights was our favorite place to spend our time when we weren't on the beach.

Tidy and cozy cottage, perfect for accessing Higgins Beach.

Beautiful location, quaint cottage
Location was absolutely perfect! Walking distance to the beach in a very friendly and well kept beach neighborhood. Cottage is very quaint and quiet on the edge of the marsh. It is a “bring your own” type cottage- sheets, towels, blankets, salt and pepper (we left some for the next folks to use) etc. Cottage is simple as pictured. Basic yet cozy and comfortable. There is a beach carriage and fold up wagon to use as well as some bogey boards which we were thankful for. We did notice that the floors have been updated since photos were taken. My only advice is that if you love to cook like we do, bring your own spices or check out the farmers market in town on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Higgins Beach Getaway
Fabulous cottage with great screened and open porches. Cottage was clean and kitchen well stocked. Lots of seating and excellent WiFi. You couldn’t be in a better location to hear birds singing, smell of beach roses and pleasant short walk to the beach. I wish Higgins still had more laid back cottages like this! Reminds me of historical Higgins days. Comfy and tranquil stay! I highly recommend. Could use a few more mugs and we had to borrow beach chairs from a friend but overall great place

Perfect Summer Cottage
I couldn’t have asked for a better location for a cottage rental just down from Higgins Beach! My stay was exactly what I was looking for- relaxing, peaceful, walking distance to the beach and Higgins Market. Loved every moment!

Cute summer cottage
To improve customer experience, this property could use updated living room furniture and new refrigerator.
Mary Ann was pleasant, responsive and available as needed. Thank you. Anne and Mark

Peaceful, Relaxing, Quiet, and Secluded
The back yard of the cottage is actually up against the Audubon Bird Sanctuary so it is beautiful protected land. We loved having coffee and tea on the screened in porch in the mornings with bird songs and bird visits right in front of us. The location being a block back from the beach and closer to one end made for a very quiet, rather secluded stay, which was wonderful for relaxing and sleeping at night. There were some beach supplies waiting on the porch (including a wagon) and the gas grill was newer and worked very well. New floors in living room and bedrooms and new coat of paint with a nautical theme gave us a comfortable, cozy feel.
We would highly recommend this peaceful getaway and peaceful experience on one of Maine’s finest beaches. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely rent the bungalow again in the future! ❤️

Great location
We had a great vacation! The house was clean and has everything you need for a beach house. It is really close to the beach. We love Higgins! And such a short distance to sight see or shop or go to the movies. We will definitely be returning..

Low frills, but comfortable beach house
This house was as we expected—nothing fancy, but clean enough to be comfortable. The neighborhood is very nice. It’s quiet and pretty. The washing machine had a leak, but we were only there a week so just avoided using it. I expect it will be fixed for future renters. If you are low maintenance and like the beach, it’s a good choice!

This cozy little bungalow is a specail little hide away for yourself or family. Purely wonderful.
The Bungalow at Higgins Beach is an experience; perhaps like staying in a light-keepers house. We walked into a lovely, clean, artfully decorated, privately owned little beach house. Amenities were perfect for us and we needed nothing except to buy a few things for the fridge and some coffee for the coffeepot! The screened in porch was a bonus for evening meals as crickets sing and the tidal waves against the shore could be heard in the distance. The screened porch was also very inviting to enjoy coffee and newspaper while light morning showers passed over. Although we were there during some very warm days, the bungalow never felt too hot and always cooled off nicely in the evening as well. There are lots of shade trees and shrubs that help keep it nice all day.
The bungalow is augmented with beach and lighthouse themes throughout and the beds were very comfortable with lovely quilts on each. The comfort of this beach house cannot be overstated with its sense of quiet and rest. A short walk to the beach was just right and we enjoyed meeting the nice folks living at Higgins Beach. The Rachael Carson National Wildlife Refuge surrounds the back yard and is accessible for viewing by a little road to a private island. We enjoyed walking the road and taking advantage of wonderful photo opportunities.
We enjoyed a family barbecue and loved sitting at the picnic table outside. The grill was as clean as the bungalow inside and the owners made sure that propane was full before we used the grill. Clean up was so easy as in this little cabin, everything has a place!
Mary Ann and her husband are wonderful hosts and we needed almost nothing. If we did need something, they personally delivered it. We loved their personal touch and warm welcome with fresh farm cut sunflowers waiting for me in a vase on the table. One can see by how beautifully they take care of this little bungalow how much they love it.
One evening, while sitting on the front porch in the dark of night, my sister and I were enjoying a cup of tea and listening to the waves on the beach in the distance when suddenly we saw a falling star streaming across the sky against the night. It seemed so close. We were amazed and a bit spellbound!
There is nothing not to love about The Bungalow at Higgins Beach. I would love to have stayed all summer and plan to stay again if it is available to us.

I loved the place, Higgins beach is marvellous
Unfortunately, I had to clean the kitchen, every drawers had mice’s excrements in, and there’s was full of unnesssrary things in the kitchen, but no place to put our groceries. I cleaned also the littles carpets in the kitchen and in the bathroom, they were dark and with hairs on them. There was full of dust on the refrigerator and on the drier for clothes. I had to wash every items that was dusty and who didn’ t serve since a lot of time. There was only one glass for the wine and only two spoons for the soup, no soup bols, nor dessert plates, only bigs plates.
We received those items but only after having lodging a demand at HomeAway. I let before message to the owner’ phone or message box but no answers. It was my first experience with HomeAway and I was deceived because I thought that there was supposed to have a better quality or supervision concerning the state of the cottage at our arrival. I am not a complainant person. I let the cottage more clean that it was when I arrived. Sorr for my English, I am à French speaking person.
