Awesome homestay with great food

Visited this place during May 12-14, 2023. It's around 365 km from Bengaluru. Around 9 hrs journey including 2 breaks totalling 1.5 hrs. The homestay is at a great, peaceful location, almost at the outskirts. It is a pretty big villa kind homestay with 3 rooms in the ground floor and probably 2 more in the first floor, accessible via duplex type stairs. The entire homestay is very neatly maintained , absolutely hygienic, equipped with AC and fan in all the rooms. There is a big living room + 2 dining halls - both inside and outside the villa. Washrooms were pretty neat too. Every item placed inside villa is so carefully and beautifully chosen to match the interiors. Truly impressed with the entire design of villa. You will be welcomed by a dog - which is so friendly and quiet and did not pester the guests at all at anytime. Also the entire villa is surrounded by lawn at all sides. There is parking space for 2 cars inside villa campus, other cars can be parked outside the property and the road is pretty wide too. The property is taken care by a middle aged couple who were very helpful and approachable. They responded to any kind of help we needed. Breakfast is complimentary and is part of accommodation package. For lunch and dinner we were given contact details of a neighbor named Anitha who stays very close to the property. We were served home food prepared by Anitha and trust me the quality of food was top notch and extremely tasty. Even though we made sudden requests for all our meal requirements, she so patiently accommodated all our requests without any hindrance. We placed all our orders via phone call and the pricing is very cheap too. I definitely suggest this place to anyone who wants to visit Mangaluru. Surrounding places to visit: boating, wildlife sanctuary, planetarium at a nearby location called pilikula nisargadhama, 65 km to malpe beach.

A treat indeed with Urban Retreat

This place is located next to Pilikula Nisargadhama. Wonderful location. Outside the hustle and bustle of the city, but still very near to the Vamanjoor town in Mangalore. The property maintenance is simply awesome. Very well taken care by the caretakers. Also the food provided by Anitha is homely and easy to the pockets. Will surely come again as and when we visit Mangalore.

The staff is extremely helpful, stay was clean and peaceful. Our pet had a lot of space around the house to play.

There were no cupboards to put our stuff.

Superb homestay, convenient for the airport

Very comfortable and clean. Lovely, welcoming staff. Even though we didn’t have a language in common, they helped me order my dinner (which was delivered to the house) and made sure I had everything I needed. Very convenient for the airport. Excellent value.

Would be amazing place if caretaker can cook for guest, a simple food would also be lovely.

Breakfast was amazing. Caretaker service was amazing. They have pet dog who is very friendly and loved playing with the dog. Interior is neatly done, classy. Had lovely time there.

Everything was good, except the delivery nearly food is not that great.

Good location to stay for a short trip to Mangalore, nature stay to be enjoyed

Location is behind Mangalore Zoo with chirping of birds , calm and pleasant location to stay.Dogs at the house were so friendly, nice traditional house to revive oneself.

Staffs were partial to neighbours .

The amenities are very good. Manju cares for the visitors in running errands and getting milk rice bread and ice creams. We have a 3 year old daughter who has habit of having maggi in the night and milk in the middle of the night. All these were catered to with a smile. Rekha cooks good. Her breakfast of chapati and matar sabzi was fabulous. They generously provide to their guests. The Java apple tree sumptuously provides fruits and it it is shared unconditionally to the guests. There is hot water and electricity 24/7 and the beds are firm and good. This is a dog lovers place. They are pretty and friendly dogs which kept my daughter occupied so much she forgot about visiting the zoo and the beach. PS: Both dogs Koby and Mary are not allowed inside the bungalow which is good on hygeine perspective. Manju and Rekha are awesome caretakers and Reshma kept a check which is good.

Dogs are very critical to this place since they bring calmness to the atmosphere. Reshma is already taking care of them but i would advise them to be checked regularly and have them cleaned both body and their ears. The kitchen could be maintained little better and this is nothing against both Rekha and Manju who do a fabulous job. Please do not take this negatively but an experienced cook specifically can do better.
