The owner is really friendly and the location isn't bad. Less than 10 min walk to the station that brings you to the heart of the city
This hostel is awkward. Toilets, showers and kitchen very old and dirty. Bed sheets, linen, pillows and rooms very dirty. Bedbugs. In the room, there are people that live there and the vibe is not that nice. Some doors and windows are broken. Downstairs there's a pub thus, during the weekend, you have to expect that there's music and noise until 23 or midnight for sure.

Upon arrival at the pub was greeted by a friendly staff member working at the bar. They told me that the person who deals with hostel bookings would be arriving shortly, and after an hour waiting in the pub, he did arrive. There were some friendly people at the hostel, staff and guests alike. Travelled here from central London on the DLR and although the journey was lovely and didn't take too long, it's an additional cost which guests should factor in.
The room was crowded and I did not get much sleep due to constant shooting by another guest. However, the worst was the bed bugs as I was covered in bites following my stay here.

Nothing
It was impossible to get some rest as there is a pub underneath the rooms with extremely loud music that makes the building vibrate. If this information was given at the time of the booking I wouldn't have never booked there as I wasted my time and money going there. I was working the following day and it was impossible to get some rest. After 1hour I left. I have requested a refund but obviously booking.com doesn't like refunding customers even the service was bad. Whose fault was this, mine for booking there, or them for not warning people of what to expect at the time of the booking?

Great location, staff were super friendly. Good facilities, toilet, kitchen, shower etc
The door has no quiet way of closing, so on a Friday night it woke me up about 5 times

Staff were good, very good location, close to DLR and National Rail station.
There are lots of shops and supermarket around the hostel.
Toilets and the rooms were not clean enough especially the toilets. And, there was no option to switch off the light at night. I had to sleep with bright light on my face.
I was awake all night.Should have fixed it.
Not bad to stay but those few things must be improved.

Beds had somewhat privacy. Was close to the tube station. Cheap enough.
Shower did not have curtain so walked in on many naked people. Blanket was so scratchy it was impossible to use therefore was cold. Pub/club below so loud music all night. Came with a friend and we weren’t even allowed in the same bunk. Toilet door didn’t close nor lock. Unsure on how clean sheets were etc.

Close to stop bus, nice staff, had a box with key to lock your things, good value for money.
Place is old, need some restoration, in the night you here the music from the pub.

Mattress was comfy. Curtains provided on bunk beds. Padlock provided for locker on bed.
Dirty and broken toilet and showers. No toilet roll. Doors didn't close properly. Incredibly loud music until 2am from the bar. Unhelpful and intrusive staff. Bad smell everywhere in the room. Toilet room was just a few centimetres bigger than the actual toilet itself. No lock on door. No mention of how to check out in the morning or how to ask for help or anything. Most bedroom doors didn't close or weren't closed. Luckily no incidents.

Very cost effective, and has a pub/bar downstairs so that was a positive.
Generally dirty, facilities were weak. No staff on prem, all reliant on the bar staff downstairs instead. A lot of characters who were load and questionable were staying, often shouting or being rude. Not a great environment to sleep in and feel safe.

The only good thing to say about this place is the price
Everything. It's the worst experience I've ever had in a hostel. Beds were unconfortable. The place was dirty all around. The room and the place smelled heavily of week and beer. The bathroom (see attached) was disgusting and covered in black mould (I couldn't bring myself to even have a shower). And the pub underneath was playing hardcore music until 4am; it was so loud, it was impossible to sleep even using earplugs, the beat was making the beds to shake; So I was awake until 4am, feeling that I made a huge mistake for the sake of just saving few pounds. Sometimes cheaper turns out to be more expensive and this was totally the case.

There is nothing to like about this place.
In all my travels, this is the dirtiest INN I have seen. The bed was untidy when i was showed my corner, i killed more than 20 bed bugs on the bed i slept.
The room was over crowded even in this covid era.

Great location and staff
Messy roommates and dirty facilities

The hostel was close to where we were attending an event. Bunk curtains were a good idea considering how full the room was. Especially with regard to Covid precautions. The facilities were shabby but clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Not much space in the room for stuff - we didn't have much but it might have been difficult if we had. My ladder was being used for someone else's storage so getting into the (middle) bunk involved a short traverse. A hook for the key would have been useful.
