The house is beautiful and in a great location. Walking distance to town and local restaurants. The owner is wonderful and a great communicator. However, the house is not exactly as advertised. There is one brand new full bath. Very nicely done. The other bathroom only has a tub and no shower. We had 5 people and sharing a shower bathroom with that many adults is hard. Also the kitchen needs work. The counter tops are held together by tape.

My daughter, her husband and two young children joined my husband and I for a week ‘s stay at this quaint comfortable farmhouse. We enjoyed watching life pass by from the shaded front porch. The location couldn’t be better- near Pemaquid Beach and Pemaquid Point as well as a handy little grocery store and ice cream shop.
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped to meet our needs. Beautiful downstairs bathroom with shower and a spacious second floor master bedroom. It was hot during our stay but the evenings brought cool refreshing breezes from the harbor. The neighbors were pleasant and quiet. This is a little piece of Maine history that we were honored to experience.

We enjoyed our stay in this historic house. It was in a beautiful neighborhood, perfect for walking down to the water or to the ice cream shop. Close to Pemaquid Point and nearby towns, and to Maine Coast Craft School (where my husband was taking a class).

We loved the house. It was extremely beautiful and reminded us of summer camps in Maine. We will definitely be booking it again for next summer.

We did enjoy our vacation. The house was clean and easy to use. You could kind of see the harbor..this is not an ocean view. The house is quite old and needs attention..though the new shower is a lovely addition.

Comfortable house. Great location. Groceries and restaurants close by. Lovely neighbourhood !

We enjoyed our stay at Reillys house. The house has a lot of character - like my friend said - this is so Americana! If you are looking for a sleek house, this won't be the place for you, as it is rather rustic, but charming and clean. The new bathroom is great and modern, the rest of the house a mixture of antiques and shabby chic furniture. New Harbor does not have super many amenities, but it was great for our stay. Communication with Reilly was usually short and sweet.

My husband, two adult sons, and I stayed in this three bedroom, two bath, farmhouse for a week in September. This was our second stay, and we look forward to staying here in the future. We loved the home, which is spacious, clean, comfortable, and has the character of a historic farmhouse. We often ate out on the porch, which was a wonderful spot to enjoy the cool breezes, view the harbor, or gaze at the Milky Way at night. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy walk (hill involved) to Reiley's grocery store, picturesque back cove, Harbor Ice Cream, and Pemaquid Craft Co-op. There are many activities within a short drive such as Hardy Boat Cruises, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, numerous restaurants, local beach, and hiking at La Verna Preserve. We enjoyed short road trips to Camden, Rockland, Owls Head, and Port Clyde to view some of the many Maine lighthouses. I highly recommend staying in this comfortable home in one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations on the Maine Coast.

This home is comfortable, charming, quiet and lovely and the porch is spectacular! Even though it was quite warm during our stay, the breezes that came through the windows in most of the house where cooling and pleasant. No trouble sleeping.
The sunrises from the front porch or down at the harbor were tremendous, as were the sunsets out at Pemaquid Point. The local bakeries and restaurants, when open, are fabulous. (And there is a Hannifords supermarket in Damariscotta.) The location of the property is ideal: Back Cove in walking or kayaking distance; Damariscotta, New Castle, Georgetown, Booth Bay, Rockland, Camden, and even Belfast are easy, pleasant drives from the home. Right down the road is one of the most special places in mid coast Maine - LaVerna Preserve. (Be sure to walk all the way out to the ocean!) Last but not least, the 50 minute boat ride out to Mohegan Island is not to be missed, especially is you like hiking out to the most amazing oceans views on the east coast. We would stay at this rental home again.

New Harbor Maine house
We had a wonderful time at Reilly's house in New Harbor. Everything about the experience was delightful. The house was extremely well-furnished and had lots of charm. The location was perfect for views of the harbor and short walks in the neighborhood. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby, and many trails to walk, compliments of the Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust.

Comfortable home with all that's needed for a relaxed vacation
A large, comfortable home on a very quiet street, plenty of room for a large family, huge living room, spacious front porch, large back yard and large patio area with table. Fully equipped kitchen, lots of linens and bedding, games and puzzles for a rainy day. Close to harbor, sights of interest and fully stocked store.

New Harbor Home Away From Home
My husband and I and one adult son vacationed in this lovely home for a week in July. We loved both the home and location. The home is over 100 years old, is comfortable and charming, and can easily sleep six. The kitchen, spacious living room, and bathroom with shower are on the first floor. There is a lovely wrap around porch on the front of the home where we spent much time enjoying the breezes and views of the harbor and neighborhood. There is a patio in the back of the home with grill, table, and chairs. There are three bedrooms on the second floor and a bathroom with a claw foot tub. The front bedroom is large with a comfortable queen bed and great views of the harbor. The second bedroom has a full bed and the back bedroom has one full and two twin beds. There are plenty of closets and bureaus.
We loved that the neighborhood was quiet but close enough to walk to local attractions. Abundant bakery, Reilly's grocery, New Harbor ice cream, Pemaquid Craft Co-Op and Back Cove were all within an easy walking distance. (It is recommended to put diets on hold while vacationing here). There is a boat ramp across the street with access to the harbor.
It is a short drive to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and there is an amazing spot to see the sunsets or go star gazing at the mid-point of Pemaquid Loop Road. The Hardy Boat Cruises (puffin watch, seal watch, or trip to Monhegan Island) is a short drive away as is the local public beach. We enjoyed an easy 2-mile hike at La Verna Preserve off route 32 a few miles away. There are several local restaurants specializing in lobster and seafood and the Cupboard Café is famous for their breakfast and sticky buns. The dock at the Contented Sole restaurant has the most amazing views of Pemaquid River and Harbor and a bald eagle flew by while we were dining. We enjoyed shopping in Damariscotta and visited the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. I highly recommend vacationing in this peaceful and beautiful part of Maine and I highly recommend this vacation home. There is plenty to do if you want to remain local and plenty of Maine mid-coast attractions within easy driving distance.
We were thankful to have stayed in such a lovely home and neighborhood during our wonderful vacation and look forward to staying here again.

Neat place with a home feel
House is located near the center of town and across from the town landing. Easy walk to amazing treats like local ice cream and a bakery and kids can walk to the grocery store. We will be back. Owner was very attentive to all our needs. It has a claw foot tub, need we say more.

We had a grand time at New Harbor. The house is 100 years old with the feel of coming home to Grandma’s house. The location was great! My granddaughters ran across the backyard for breakfast treats, at Abundant Bakery, rode their bikes up the hill to the grocery store, Harbor Ice Cream , Pemaquid Beach, the Craft Shop and to the back Cove. We did a lot of kayaking and hiking ! We, also discovered a quarry for cliff jumping! The house was a comfortable base! Great for active adults and teenagers!

This is a very special place lovingly cared for by the family. It is definitely a house not a cottage as described in other reviews. It was spotlessly clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness throughout—particularly the living room that extends from the front of the house to the back complete with a sectional sofa and other seatings that would be great for a family of any size. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor with the Master Bedroom being particularly large and antique filled. The view of the harbor is particularly lovely from this room. The kitchen is charming and spacious overlooking the wonderful porch in the front and from another window the patio where there is outdoor furniture and grill. The location couldn’t be better—less than 10 minutes to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse where you’ll find the Seagull Restaurant perched high on a bluff. Don’t miss walking the Pemaquid Loop which meanders along the coast with striking views of the ocean.Shaw’s across the harbor is quintessential Maine. Hands down they have the best lobster rolls we tasted and living here in the State we’ve had a real sampling.Reilly, the owner, was a joy to work with —she’s was accommodating and quick to respond to questions.Overall, this is a real find and we look forward to our next stay!

A perfect spot for the family’s beach vacation!
Reilly’s home was perfect for our 2 week stay, It is located on a quiet street a short walk to the stores and shops and a quick drive to the beach. The home is spacious with plenty of seating an the living room for our family of five. There was plenty of room to set up the baby’s stuff (pack n play, jumper etc) the front porch is shaded and has a great view so we spent most of our time out there. The grill and outdoor dining area were private and we enjoyed many meals out there. The mudroom area is huge and made a great spot to unload stuff when we came back from the beach. The boat launch across the street was clean and makes a great spot for taking a dog for a swim. The many fans kept the house cool and comfortable with no need for air conditioning. The neighbors were pleasant and the whole family had a great time. The owner is very responsive and great to work with. We definitely recommend this location for families and would stay here again!

Easy-going, New Harbor gem
Located in an attractive village with a general store handy, this house in New Harbor was a great find for our family of four (two adults, two children ages 8-11). It is well furnished and offers all the necessities (e.g. washer/dryer, fully outfitted kitchen, WiFi, comfortable beds). As other reviewers have noted, the house also has some nice extras, like books/games/puzzles, proximity to the harbor and a bakery, and a pleasant front porch for relaxing. We appreciated the house’s new replacement windows with screens throughout (as anyone who has dealt with old window sashes or Maine mosquitoes will understand). Finally, the owner’s accessibility during our stay was fantastic. She was quick to answer questions and very easy to work with. Overall, this house was an excellent base for us while visiting relatives and sites in the area. We would be glad to stay again!

Quiet, peaceful getaway
Really enjoyed our time in this property. It was very cozy and sweet, and there was ample space to relax and spend time together. We had everything we needed. We spent much of our time on the front porch, we could relax, watch the harbor, and sip our coffee. The street was quiet, with the fun find of the Back Cove just a little walk away. Around the corner a lovely little bakery and art gallery. Up the hill, a well stocked grocery and ice cream stand. Although it was hot and the house is not air conditioned, we were comfortable with the fans provided. The beds were very comfortable too! The public beach was a short 5 minute drive away and is well maintained.
The owner was quickly responsive to all my questions before we arrived and I’m sure would have been the same IF we had needed anything during our stay, but not necessary. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful, laid back vacation for your family.

Lovely Maine home!
My family enjoyed every minute of our stay in this charming New Harbor home! The house itself was plenty spacious for our family of 6 with 4 little ones, and there was enough space for my in laws to visit for a few nights as well. The front porch is a perfect place to enjoy coffee or wine overlooking the harbor. The kitchen is big and had everything we needed. The living room was spacious. The master bedroom is big with a big closet, and the bed is very comfortable! My kids loved staying in the back bedroom with the full and single beds, and my in laws were comfortable in the second bedroom. The bathrooms are clean, and there is a large mud room at the back of the house which was an unexpected bonus. We spent hours out back with the kids playing wiffle ball, and we loved walking over to the delicious bakery around the corner. My kids loved walking across the street to the harbor to skip rocks and to look for special nature "treasures" as we watched the boats come and go out of the harbor. The location is excellent - a 10 minute walk up the hill to Reilly's and the ice cream shop, and it's a quick drive to Pemaquid Point lighthouse where we enjoyed climbing on the rocks. This house was exactly what we were looking for and it made our vacation special - we could relax in a comfortable home, had a great front porch, a spacious yard for the kids to play, and it was well-situated for us to explore New Harbor, Damariscotta, and Pemaquid Point. Dinner at Contented Sole was great and we loved the lobster rolls at Shaw's. Our family loves puffins and we did a great tour on the Hardy Boat Cruise next to Shaw's. We could easily escape the hustle and bustle of busy lives and unwind in this great spot. The owner, Reilly, is fantastic to work with! She was very attentive and helpful with questions along the way! We will definitely be back and look forward to making more special memories on future trips!!

Our wonderful stay in Maine
We had such a beautiful time on our road trip from Lago Vista Texas thru Maine and up into Quebec Canada. Our stay in your quaint, and charming home was warm and welcoming.
The Bakery just down the street was a wonderful surprise to our early morning walks. The lobster shacks provided some of the best moments as well as the GRAND LOBSTER FESTIVAL. We stopped along RT 1 3-4 times buying wild blueberries as well as a few pies. We will absolutely look forward to our next stay in your beautiful sate and your charming home.

Perfect for our family
This home was perfect for our family of 6. We had plenty of room for the kids to play in the large family room and yard. The kitchen was a good size and the wrap around porch was a great place for meals and coffee. The location is great. Right across the street from the harbor and a short walk to many things like Back Cove, a local bake shop, ice cream and small store. Short drive to beach and lighthouse. Its in a low traffic area so I felt safe walking on the road with my kids or riding bikes. The kids enjoyed looking for crabs in the harbor at low tide. You can launch kayaks or boats right across the street. The locals we came across were very friendly. The home owner is friendly and accommodating. Very easy to work with and always got back to me right away when I had questions. We will be back!

Potential lost
So starting with the good things about this rental. Location, Location, Location. A very short walk to a small grocery store and Ice Cream shop. A long walk to the local Co-op fishing wharf and a great restaurant. It is also a very short drive to a sandy beach, rocky shores and picturesque Pemaquid Point. The house had many neat antique decorations and accents. Modern kitchen amenities.
Now the bad....
1. Back door does not lock, well it locks but the lock in the door doesn't secure the door so there is no way to secure your belongings when you leave the house. Not that there is probably much crime in the area but the lack of security might be an issue for some.
2. No family dining space. There is no dining area big enough for the family to sit around. There is a table outside but if there is bad weather the umbrella attached to the table barely covers the table itself.
3. Grill is old and falling apart.
4. Musty smell in the house once the air freshener from the cleaners wore off. Some sort of rotting/growing potatoes in the basement might have been the cause.
5. Zero cell service and no internet at the house even though it has cable and phone service from a provider that could easily provide internet/wireless for those wanting or needing such access.
6. It says two baths but one is just an old tub. There is only one shower that all of us used while there and it is downstairs and all the bedrooms are upstairs.
7. No AC so the steamy Maine summer weeks can make the house stuffy especially towards the evening.
8. Very disjointed and slow communication from the owner. Some times it took weeks and multiple sendings to get answers to simple questions via email. When I brought up a couple of the issues after the week the owner got very snarky.
9. BUGS! Twice I opened kitchen cabinets to find bugs running across the plates. When packing up I saw another bug scurrying in the dresser drawer when I removed my clothes.

Perfect!
I have been coming to the Pemaquid region with family and friends for 30 years, and this is the best rental I've ever had. The house is quintessential Maine coast, well equipped and furnished with lovely antiques. Sit on the porch with your coffee or glass of wine and a good book and you won't want to leave. C. E. Reilly grocery is a short walk away and has everything we needed (and a few things we didn't need, like fresh blueberry donuts). Other recommendations: Take a picnic to the lighthouse park, walk the loop road, and visit the art gallery/co-op when you're there. Check out the Wednesday concert series at the Little Brown Church in Round Pond. Go for a hike at the Hog Island Audubon Center or one of the other nearby nature preserves. Pemaquid Beach is my all-time favorite beach; I love the cold water, but it's lovely to just sit and read even if you don't swim, and it's perfect for kids. For lobster in the rough, try the Pemaquid Co-op up on a hill with a splendid view across Pemaquid Harbor. Shaw's is also a great place for fresh seafood and has an outdoor bar downstairs where you can sip a drink and watch the lobster boats come and go. The Hardy Boat cruises leaving from Shaw's wharf are fun and informative. We went on the seal watch this summer and have also done the puffin watch and Monhegan day trip. As another reviewer said, the Contented Sole is the place to go for oysters and other good things. Sit outside on the dock. A short drive up the road, Damariscotta is great for strolling, shopping (don't miss Renys for amazing bargains and the Maine Coast Book Shop), dining, and arts. Thanks, Reilly, for a great week. We'll be back!

Lovely cottage!
This is a lovely, quiet cottage, large and comfortable, full of charm, with a view of New Harbor, a great walking circuit, a terrific local grocery store a short walk away, one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Maine just a 10 minute drive away, ditto for the idyllic wharf restaurant, The Contented Sole, where the oysters a great. The perfect place for solitude, but within striking distance of antique stores, beautiful countryside, and boating possibilities (even though we didn't get to that). A very easy-going owner - thank you, Reilly!

Maine Holiday
It was refreshing to arrive in New Harbor from the Florida heat of our retirement home. We spent many happen times sailing in Penobscot Bay when we lived in Maine. This home, situated on one of the few working harbors in Maine, was very nice. It is very well equipped, and filled with antiques and paintings that probably should not be there. Morning coffee sitting on the porch was special particularly if you had a hot fresh muffin from the local store. This area of the coast is very pretty with Pemaquid being a highlight. Do not miss the Puffin watch trip, or visits to Shaw’s for lobster.

Delightful week in New Harbor, Maine
Our family of four adults and a young toddler thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely home. It was spotless when we arrived, with the spacious yard freshly mowed. Although full of beautiful antiques, the house was easy to childproof, and our grandson loved the freedom to play inside and on the beautiful big porch. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and the back patio was a terrific place for our extended family to have a barbeque party. The owner was a joy to work with, and made booking this vacation a breeze. Other family members were jealous of our find! We'll be back, for sure.

August 2013
I stayed here in August this year when I was in Maine for my wedding. The weather was perfect, the house is great... it's comfortable, clean and well equipped with everything we needed and is beautifully decorated with antiqes and some fantastic items that represent the nostalgia of a simpler & more relaxing time. The location is perfect and the house has beautiful views from the porch where you can sit and relax and enjoy the day. If you've never been to this part of Maine, you are definitely missing some of the most amazing scenery you could ever see... and if you have seen it, I'm sure you will agree.

wonderful house
We had a wonderful vacation in this house! My husband and I, my aunt, and my cousin were here for a week. The living room is huge--great for reading and working puzzles, and plenty of room when more of our extended family dropped by. Big kitchen, very well-stocked with all the implements we needed. We sat on the porch every morning, drinking coffee and tea, and watching the boats in the harbor across the street. Great view. Very quiet, peaceful area, yet so convenient--blocks from Reilley's store, an ice cream stand, and some galleries. New Harbor is convenient to lots of my favorite destinations-- Round Pond, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Damariscotta, Wiscassett. Very close to many fantastic seafood restaurants, with Shaw's being in view right across the harbor. Back Cove is a short walk up the street. The owner has provided an amazingly thorough "things to do" book for renters--I've been coming up here for years, and I found many, many restaurants/activities/attractions listed that I had never heard of. Comfy beds. Beautiful antiques throughout the house. Books, games, and puzzles. We are definitely coming back to this house when we return to Maine.

Gracious Home in New Harbor
Our extended family stayed in this lovely home this past July. Six adults and two toddlers found amply room in the large living room to talk, read and play. We enjoyed many meals around the table, as well as visits to area restaurants (especially Shaw's and the Cupboard!) We started each day with coffee on the front porch, and often watched as a boat was put in or brought out of the harbor across the street. Back Cove is an easy walk, as is Rielly's Store, and the lighthouse and a sandy beach are just a short drive away. The house has many lovely antiques, and was very clean and neat. We have been coming to this area for years, and really enjoyed having another week together in this wonderful spot.

Seattle gang
this house provided a fabulous retreat for my family and for extended family to come visit us. It was impeccably clean upon our arrival, the beds were very comfortable, the deck was a wonderful hangout, and everything we needed was there. The beach is a 3 minute drive away and we walked to the ice cream store several times. If we go back to coastal Maine in the future, we would definitely try to rent this house again. Thank you very much for making our stay so delightful!
