Staff were friendly and accommodating. We arrived as food was finishing however we were rushed through which was appreciated. Room was nice, lovely added touches which we didn't need so left for the next guests. Nice toiletries in bathroom. It's clearly a popular pub with locals which is great to see.
The smell of gents toilets whilst eating as the table we were given was right next door. The bathroom needs a bit of updating, few places of black mould. One of the towels had stains on. Think dust in the radiator grill will need cleaning before heating goes on. Thick dust around sash window however it is on the main road. No decaf coffee option at breakfast.

Beautiful country pub with a great atmosphere, plenty of walking tracks and a short car trip to Weymouth beaches

Bar shut early.

The room was small but very well presented and exceptionally clean, fantastic tea making are with a selection of different drinks and biscuits. Staff very helpful. There is ample parking and a huge outdoor are with large TV. Bed very soft and comfortable, fair amount of road noise if you have the window open but it's on the main road as you can see in the listing so if you book it you expect that. Evening meals a little pricey but chip shop next door if you prefer. Breakfast was very good, no cheap ingredients and wonderfully cooked, toast and coffee available on a side table.
The shower was tiny, even my missus who is only 5ft struggled to move around in there without banging her arm on the pipework, I didn't bother and used the sink. Not a major issue for a quick overnighter. TV channel selection quality a bit flakey but that seems standard in most places.

Very nice pub, good atmosphere & food.
Unfortunately in our deluxe room, there was quite a lot of damp on the ceiling in the bathroom.
Also our room faced the road so we could hear cars driving past during the night. Earplugs are a must if you're a light sleeper.

The karaoke downstairs that you can hear till it’s finished. Apart from that all was amazing

New people. Are trying really hard to improve the property as it was eft in quite a poor state. New management are really friendly and the food was excellent.
Nothing really. Being as it's a listed building they unfortunately can't improve the sound d if traffic noise. It was ok.

Full English breakfast was very nice - the bacon was lovely. Great location and easy for buses to Weymouth Centre or not far to drive around to most places. Staff were great behind bar and restaurant. The bed/pillows were so comfortable and the best sleep we've had in weeks. We were there for 3 days this time round and the room was cleaned every day. We would have been happy had it not been as we're tidy people, but very nice.
Thank you all and see you again for a longer break for the New Year.
The shower in Room 2 was a little small for us, but could not fault the cleanliness and how cosy the room was, so more our problem than the accommodation itself. However, it hasn't stopped me booking the Spice Ship again for the New Year, although we know we are in a different room (thank you).

Had a night away with the family. The family room is spacious and the shower is hot. It was a lovely touch to have the complimentary sticks of rock! Awesome!
We had dinner in the bar which was served really quickly and tasted great.
Breakfast was fab and a nice laid back atmosphere.
We will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed here when visiting family so location good for us. Large pub with plenty of seating space. Bed and pillows comfortable.
Needs redecoration upstairs, carpets old, mould in bathroom. Poor heating. Mismatched cups in bedroom, couldn’t get anything on the TV in room.

The food was OK.Good breakfast.
The room wasn't like it looked on the Booking.com website! The room wasn't very clean ! Dusty and bathroom could of been cleaner, dust and hairs !! Asked for towels only 1 small bath towel and hand towel given, there were 3 of us ! No tiolet roll given when asked !! Room disappointing. 😔

The king size bed, breakfast was lovely.
The fire door next to our room was banging all night.

The staff were friendly.
The breakfast was okay.
There was a full sized kettle in the room and a good selection of teas and coffee, including decaf options and chamomile.
The room was advertised as Deluxe, it wasn't deluxe, the wall had holes where the headboards for twin beds once were, the windows were thick with black mould, the bathroom had black mould on the ceiling, the photos showed individual toiletries, but there was just some pump bottles of shampoo and shower gel, the handsoap was very watered down. The TV wouldn't connect to the freeview box, so we couldn't watch anything, we had wanted to put the TV on the block the very load customers in the pub below, it was karaoke night so it was loud until gone 11pm. Which we were only advised of on arrival.
The hallway leading to the room had blackened carpets, a doorway to a room with carpet that was in a very bad state, a fire exit that the push down bar handle was hanging off of, the fire exit door didn't shut and it looked as though the broken handle would actually be an obstruction as the latch was hanging over the frame.
The is also a lot of traffic noise as it is situated right on the main road.
On arrival there was no signs to advise where to check in, we waited at the busy bar to ask the bartender, who pointed us towards the restaurant.
Breakfast was only served between 8am and 9am.
It was okay for one night's stay. But we wouldn't return.

it was relatively cheap and the bed was big
it wasn’t very clean there were no electricity sockets apart from an extension lead behind the bed the radiator in the bathroom was rusty I know that we were above a pub it was a Sunday night and there was loud music being played until 12 . 30 at night
