This property is nothing short of amazing. Al and Sarah have thought of everything a guest could possibly need-from a beautiful welcome basket, a fully supplied kitchen with basic sauces and seasonings, to more than basic bathroom toiletries, laundry facilities, fire pit gathering space, even hammocks throughout the property.
The welcome book is full of information about the area and super helpful material for families like mine who plan day by day. This was a great location for us as we hit Mt Rushmore, Needles, Custer, Spearfish, Sylvan, and Rapid City.
My family loved the farm animals and interacting with them daily-especially the bunnies!
The cabins are exactly as pictured, and my daughters loved having their own space upon the loft
We hope to return soon to enjoy the area and the hospitality we loved here at Camp Fire Cabins! Thank you Al and Sarah for thinking of everything!

The cabins are in a quiet area just far enough away from town, but close enough to get everything you need. Everything we wanted to do was within 1 1/2 hour drive in any direction. The cabin had everything we could need and even added extras for a nice welcoming gift. Our boys loved playing with all of the animals and loved the campfire area. The host was very friendly, attentive and available if needed. 10/10 I would visit again and recommend to friends and family.

Our experience was superior! The cabin was in excellent condition end exactly as described. It is centrally located to all the things we wanted to see. We were there for Sturgis bike rally and its is a nice quiet place to come to to unwind after a long day of activities. Sarah is a superior host and takes care of all needs you may have. She is definitely a people person and a joy to talk to. We were there for eight days and will be back for another stay for sure!! Thanks Sarah!

Our family of four stayed for 7 nights at Campfire Cabins and we would recommend to anyone with a smaller family. The cabin size worked well for us and the property is centrally located in the Black Hills. The host were helpful and very attentive host. Also our kids loved seeing the animals and the nightly s’mores at the campfire. We will visit again.

Great location, centrally located between many area attractions.
Cozy, quaint cabin. Our girls loved the loft and the movies… and the hammock. Appreciated the pots/pans/condiments provided. Also, the adorable little bottles of coffee syrups!!

Family vacation
We are a family of five (including three teenagers) on vacation to see South Dakota. The scenic drive to the cabin was beautiful. The cabin was super clean and had ample space for all of us. The teens especially enjoyed sleeping in the loft and watching the chickens, bunnies and cats each morning before we headed out. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location
I picked this location because of the great reviews along with a welcoming 6 farm fresh eggs in the fridge. They were delicious 😋 But it was much more. The cabin had everything you need, great showed, Fluffy towels, comfy bed, beautiful quilt, cows, chickens, goats, and the house cats, especially Rocket which is a very sweet and affectionate 🐈 We had a very nice peaceful time here, would definitely recommend, and plan another trip in the future 😊

Great place to stay!
We are from the east side of the state and come to the hills often. We prefer a cabin to hotel stay. This is a great location and cabin with lots of extras so you dont have to haul alot of stuff with you. We also need a place to park our trailer and side x side which this place has, many places don't. Liked the big fire pit and play area for kids (our grandkids visited...they were camping down the road) They loved the kitties, rabbits, goats and chickens. We liked the fresh eggs! Plan to stay here again.

2021 Sturgis Bike Rally Trip
Second year staying here for the rally and absolutely loved it. Very convenient central location between Deadwood and Hill City and just far enough away from the craziness to have very relaxing evenings by the fire and peaceful silent nights. Can’t wait to return.

Awesome hosts, awesome cabin!
This was the most enjoyable trip I’ve had yet to the Black Hills, and Campfire Cabins was a big part of it. The Sutton’s are fantastic hosts and even nicer people! The cabins are beautifully designed, super comfortable and immaculately kept! I can’t imagine a better place to stay in the Black Hills. We’ve already reserved our cabin for next year.

My family and I all enjoyed our stay. The cabin looked brand new and was very clean. We particularly enjoyed the community fire pit. It was nice to sit around the campfire and meet some new people while the kids enjoyed playing and making new friends. I highly recommend this place to others

Great place!
We had a wonderful time. The hosts are extremely attentive. Cabins are fully updated and spotless. If you like being near nature but want all the comforts of home this is the spot for you. My kids loved meeting all of the animals- especially holding the baby bunnies. We had a great time on our last night sitting around the fire with drinks and s’mores getting to know our hosts and fellow guests. Cabins are central to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State park without being in the middle of the chaos. Highly recommend!

Exceptional
Not only was the cabin beautiful and very clean the owners went above and beyond to welcome us and they have thought of everything you could need while on vacation. We had a little gift bowl of snacks that they had on the table with a welcoming note. A very detailed binder that included local restaurants, attractions, maps, and the owners cell number in case you needed anything. They were quick to reply and they are the friendliest people you will meet. They will come out and visit with you at the campfire to see how your stay is going and will give you tips on places to go.
They have a little hobby farm and will welcome you to see their animals. Visiting South Dakota is amazing but Al and Sarah gave us memories we will never forget. We will stay here anytime we come back to South Dakota. I highly recommend staying here!

Our new favorite spot!
This will definitely be an every year booking from us and our family of four! We can’t thank you both enough for your tremendous hospitality. From the cute animals that they allow you to interact with to the neat little loft that our kids enjoyed playing in. We cannot say enough good things about their property. 10/10 would recommend!

Great base for exploring the Black Hills!
My dad and I stayed here for a couple of days while visiting the Black Hills. We liked having our own kitchen and loved all of the animals around the property! Al and Sarah were very responsive and friendly as well. We had some trouble finding groceries nearby, but there is a great grocery store in Hill City which wasn't too far from the cabin. Overall, we had a great stay and are glad we booked Campfire Cabins!

Black hills gem
We enjoyed staying here and it was exactly as the pictures showed. Check in was super simple. My kids (8,8,11) really thought the loft was so cool to sleep in and had lots of room for everyone. The full kitchen and bathroom were awesome and roomy. We went tent camping for a couple days before and this cabin was such an awesome retreat. All of the little touches (fresh eggs, condiments, games, etc) really made it feel like home. Highly recommend.

Our family enjoyed a long weekend visit to South Dakota here. With a lot to do and little time, this cabin was conveniently located for us. Turn left and head to Mt. Rushmore for the day. Turn right to tour Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon. You can have it all with quiet country living, but not too far from Rapid City's business activities. Our daughter loved the private loft above like it was built just for her. We were so busy, though, that she left a stuffed animal up there and the owners were nice enough to mail it back to us upon returning home. The whole experience brought a smile to our faces. Thanks!

Great stay at Campfire Cabins!!
Al and Sarah at Campfire Cabins deserve all the high ratings they get. The cabin is new, clean, and has everything you need. Plenty of cooking supplies, extra toiletries, and plenty of information about the area. The location is convenient, yet quiet. We especially enjoyed the community fire pit and getting to meet our fellow travelers and hosts. It was our first time in the Blackhills and it did not dissapont. Highly recommend and we would definitely stay again.

Lovely Getaway!
We loved our stay at the campfire cabins! Everything as shown in photo's with the six cabins and wonderful outdoor space. Sarah was so sweet to share fresh eggs from the chickens that made for a perfect breakfast! Sarah was very responsive to all our questions and very helpful in helping plan things to do. We made a campfire one evening and met the family in cabin next door and enjoyed a wonderful evening. Thank you for a wonderful retreat. If we end up back in the area, will definitely plan to stay again!
