Nice cabin but needs some updates/improvements
I will start with the fact I am a property manager in another city and I know not everything will always be perfect.
The good:
Cute cottage close to everything
The neighbor feeds the deer so they are always around
Spacious
The glow of the ski slopes was really cool at night
The bad:
Smoke - the chimney likely needs to be cleaned. A few logs would cause the entire place to fill with smoke. We were excited to use the fireplace but it wasn't usable. Everything we brought had to be washed.
Condition - the cabin hasn't been updated in a few dozen years. Normal cooking items and what not.
Management company - A heavy snow fall occurred during our visit. I called Sunday morning to see what the plan would be to plow our driveway so we would not be stuck. I got a call later that day that we are on the list and someone would plow soon. I was close to the end of the driveway, pulled out and got stuck. No plow arrived Sunday. Called again Monday, told the same. No plow but was told we could stay another night at the full rate. That was so kind of them as we were starting to distress. By Monday evening we realized we had to dig ourselves out with the one small snow shovel provided. We got one car out, flagged down a tow truck and got the other car towed up to the more clear street. It was disappointing to be lied to and have the management company not care that we were running out of food and medicine but more than happy to bill us to stay longer when we couldn't leave. We didn't want to stay any longer.
All in all, I wouldn't book here again and would love an apology from management but just got a follow up call to pay the extra night fee. I asked for a manager to call but haven't received anything back.

Great location, nice cabin
This is a nice cabin in a great location. Plenty of room for a family of four. The weather was freezing but it was nice and cozy inside. The kitchen is pretty small and tight but hey it’s a cabin. As other reviews have mentioned, it is in need of some updating. In particular, the couches in the living room are something that I would be ashamed of bringing to Goodwill to donate. They should go straight to a landfill. I’m also glad I had the foresight to bring my own paper towels and TP. For a four night’s stay, we were set up with one roll of one ply in each bathroom and one roll of paper towels in the kitchen. I will say I had a couple of questions prior to the stay and the mgmt company was very friendly and responsive. Overall, I would recommend if you can overlook these shortcomings.

Cozy Cabin
What a wonderful property! There were 4 adults staying in the cabin for a long weekend. Plenty of room for all, the two king beds were perfect. The cabin was super cozy, clean, well stocked for our needs. The firepit was awesome. But, the best part was the beautiful trees and all of the deer. Such a great experience.

Off to see the Wizard!
Enjoyed the stay. Only problem was that we did not have enough towels and washcloths for the group. Extra toilet paper would have been nice to have.

Nature and Waterfalls
Exceptional stay at Benzine Farm in Beech Mountain. Cabin was clean, organized, and well stocked. Indoor and outdoor areas were both well cared for, and we had everything we needed for a great stay. We went hiking each day on nearby trails and saw beautiful rivers/waterfalls.
Things we loved about the property:
- Three bedrooms plus a full loft providing ample sleeping space. There would be plenty of room for 4 couples (8 adults) to sleep comfortably.
- Cabin was well stocked with supplies and activities. The outdoor firepit had plenty of dry firewood stashed under the deck, and the cornhole and horseshoe pit activities were in great shape. Bath towels were high quality and plentiful. Cleaning service provided a generous starter set of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent.
- Great location. Cabin is located in a neighborhood but sits on a private, heavily wooded lot (approximately 3/4 acre). Homes are spaced well apart, which provides plenty of privacy and a sense of solitude. However, it's also a quick 20 minute drive to the grocery store, and the cabin is even closer to a few restaurants and other supplies.
- Plenty of wildlife. We saw tons of deer (including bucks) during our stay. The deer are obviously comfortable with people, and many would not move until you approached within 3 feet of them.
- Strong wifi and cell signals. Wifi in the house was very strong, and it was even sufficient to support video streaming when seated around the outdoor firepit. Cell signals were also strong in the area. I went on a 2+ mile run around the neighborhood, and my GPS never lost connectivity.
- Close to outdoor activities. We went hiking each day on nearby trails. The trailhead for the Lower Pond Creek Trail is located just a 5-minute drive from the cabin and offers amazing views of the creek, including some small waterfalls. Other trails are located a short (30-minute) drive away, including the Elk River Falls Trail, Jones Falls Trail, and Splash Dam Falls Trail.
Areas for potential improvement:
- Kitchen was relatively small. It was fine for three adults but might be challenging for larger groups. In particular, there was no pantry, so we had to place dry goods above the fridge or in the dining area.
- Electronic key entry was located only on the 1st floor door. There was also a ground floor door that was convenient from bringing in luggage, but you could access that door only with a hardcopy key.

Amazing experience!!!
Incredible experience!!! Excellent communication and information offered from host. The home is in an excellent area, surrounded by nature and wildlife, our kids and us had a wonderful time. A lot of deer and other wildlife can be seeing at almost all times during the day. Very relaxing time and home situated next to a little creek.

Daily Deer Visits
We were greeted daily by the neighborhood deer which were awesome to see. Neighborhood park and trail was nice when you wanted to get out of the house but not leave the mountain. Property is very spacious and perfect for multi-family or large families. Downstairs Master Bed, Bathroom, and Den are completely secluded. Upstairs loft and mini bathroom was super cute and comfortable. The interior has not been painted in years and it is clearly evident. There were typical "dirt/grime" marks on the doors, railing, backsplashes, and walls. Kitchen should have been cleaner. $500.00 of paint touch ups on interior, upholstery cleaner on the couch, freshen up the information binder and some new pots and pans and this place would be top notch. Wifi & Cell service in the house very intermittent.

Couldn’t have asked for a better cabin!
It was beautiful and spacious. The kids loved the extra play room! We saw 5 deer by the fire pit on the first day. There was plenty to do and super close to Beech Mountain and free sledding hills. The internet service worked great too. The cabin’s rental management customer service was excellent. Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again!

Very nice and very clean! Had everything we needed for our stay. Location to the ski resort was less than 2 miles. LOTS of deer to view at any time of the day. I would highly recommend 4 wheel drive if staying in the winter months. Overall a very pleasant and peaceful stay. We will be coming back to this cabin!

Great Mountain Escape
We had a pleasant and relaxing trip enjoying the comforts of Benzine Farm. The size of the cabin was perfect for our group because everyone could hang out together at the fire pit, on the deck, or in the living room - but then separate for sleeping or quiet time in the space provided by the three levels of the cabin. We counted 59 bear-themed decorations, and hope the number will have reached 60 when we book again!

Nice cabin
Overall, Benzine was a nice place to stay and I think the value/cost was excellent. Some items, like blender and iron need updating but the place fit our 3 night stay just fine. We were lucky enough to see lots of deer and a family of bears.

Beautiful and Quaint Getaway
This is a very cute cabin in a cute neighborhood in the mountains. It had almost everything we needed (i.e., towels, dishes, washer, dryer, etc). We just needed laundry detergent, a little more toilet paper, and a pizza cutter. It stayed warm inside and we enjoyed the fire pit in the back. The deer are very acclimated to people as they will walk up very close and don't seem at all bothered by cars. It was a little disappointing that they were doing construction right behind the cabin while we were there. The roads to get to this cabin are steep and winding (and scary if you don't like heights)! So, I was glad we did not go when it was snowing, otherwise I might have had a panic attack and my car might not have made it. Also even with the GPS we got a little lost up there once. Definitely don't attempt this without an updated GPS! Overall, it was a beautiful place and there was lots to do. We had a lot of fun and would do it again.

Good property for the price
Overall this was a great little house to stay in. We loved the fact that it was 3 levels so everyone had their own space. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need though not much extra storage space for the food items we brought but we made it work. We loved the fire pit area. We saw deer every day. The TV area downstairs was an added bonus as well as the half bath in the loft. Short drive to banner elk and only about 35 mins from Boone. The furniture is a little dated but it didn't bother us. The only thing we were disappointed in was the cleanliness of the rugs. All areas looked as if they had been vacuumed and/or mopped really well, but the rugs in the bathrooms and living areas weren't very clean. Dirt and hair on the downstairs bathroom rugs and dog hair and dirt on the living room rug. I wouldn't mention it at all but it appeared to be dog hair on the living room rug. Property is supposed to be pet-free so it was a little off-putting. Really this was a minor issue though. It didn't stop us from enjoying the house and we would definitely stay here again if traveling to the area.

Amazing stay!
My friends and I stayed in the Benzine cabin for the weekend so we could ski at Beech mountain! The cabin was only 2 miles up the road from Beech mountain which made skiing super easy. The home was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The cabin was exactly how it was described online and I would highly recommend the property to anyone!

Cozy cabin in a great location
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Our first morning we woke up and it was snowing. Our daughters had never seen snow. The white tailed deer came to visit us every day and were so comfortable around people. Location was close to everything on Beech. FWD suv and we never got stuck on any roads even while snowing. They take good care of the roads on beech mountain. At the cabin we made s'mores at the firepit, used the fireplace frequently. We had the full mountain experience! It was so beautiful. hopefully we will visit again soon!

Overall Dingy Feeling
We’ve stayed in several VRBO homes and have always been very satisfied with how the images and descriptions accurately matched the home. Unfortunately we felt the pictures fell short this time. This home has the potential to be adorable, however the furniture, walls, and over all appearance left us feeling like the house was simply not kept up. The walls and trim are all in need of fresh paint, as there are splatters, scuffs, and evidence of leaks. The bathrooms have rust on the racks; the corners of the floors are dirty; there are cobwebs in the rafters; the dishwasher isn’t bolted in and tends to fall forward when opened. Again, the house has the potential to be very cute, it just needs some upkeep. On a positive note, the outdoor area around the fire pit is lovely, and the area was peaceful and quiet. I am grateful the weather was nice so we could spend a good deal of time outside.

Benzine Farms
Nice little cozy place in the woods.we lived the surroundings and very close to different water falls and Blowing Rock. The place was little smaller than expected but 6 people can be housed without any problem.
Some of the beds were sweeky especially the queen size bed in one of the rooms. The kitchen is quite small. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Comfy Cabin
We had the best time at this cabin! We enjoyed spending quality family time and relaxing by the fire! We also enjoyed watching the deer and getting up close and personal! The house had a great set up. We had 8 people in the house and it never seemed crowded. We had a lot of family fun with the horseshoe pit and bean bag toss! We plan to come back for a visit!

Friendship Gateway
Thank you to share your cabin with us. We got a wonderful friendship gateway. Personally I felt restricted, too many signs inform you about which closet belong to the owner;however, my friends enjoy it each pieces of the cabin. So, my goal was accomplished. They felt relaxed. Definitely I recommend the cabin if you're looking to have just a relaxing gateway;however, if you're like looking a cabin that feel like home and not like you're someone else home this cabin is not good. Beside that the cabin met my expectations to have a wonderful gateway with my friends.

Good bones, deferred upkeep
We just completed a two week stay at this property. We rented it fully understanding that it was a moderately priced property. Unfortunately, there were many small things that disappointed our modest expectations. On the positive side, the location of the house is very tranquil. We really enjoyed the porch area and having the windows open. The fireplace was great as well. Please understand that I am not being picky about the house with my next comments. It is just that if a house is on the vacation rental market, I feel like these comments should be addressed. First of all, the upholstered furniture was dirty. Perhaps the fabric selection was made to “hide” the normal dirtiness of wear and tear. It is past time to replace these. Ditto for the rug in the living room. I don't care how old some thing is, it just needs to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. Next, the sheets. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom, with a king sized bed. The mattress must be newer than the sheets because they did not fit properly. The bottom sheet is not of the newer “deep pocket” variety and kept popping off the mattress. I did sleep upstairs one night in another room and had no issues of this type. Other annoying issues were that we could not open the downstairs door to the outside due to the fact that the deadbolt was locked and there was no key made available, the batteries in the remote controls were at the end of their lives (making it difficult to change channels), you could not move the shower head (the “fix” is NOT a sign On the shower door), and finally a bathroom sink did not drain properly. My husband emailed the rental company about several of the issues but never heard back from them. This property is very cute and could be so much better with basic maintenance and updates that all properties require.

Had a great time
We really enjoyed our stay at the Benzine Farm. The cabin itself was delightful and the amenities were very comfortable for 6 individuals. We had all we needed for a great stay. There were challenging walking trails nearby that took us past gorgeous scenery, and lots of deer visiting the property. We especially enjoyed the fire pit outside, and made s'mores nightly. Maintenance was very helpful when we had a battery needing changing on the front door lock. We will use Carolina Cabin Rentals again for sure.

Home was well maintained and comfortable. Close to the slopes and great heating (little too much - it was hot and we couldn't find the right thermostat). Only things missing were paper towels, dishwasher powder, and garbage bags. We took a nice walk and saw plenty of deer. All was very nice and we would recommend this home.
