Breakfast was good. Variety of food. Staff pleasant and helpful. Bar and restaurant area clean and decorated well. Restaurant and bar appeared to be very popular throughout the day. Excellent location.
Small double room booked for one person was very small and cost the same price as the twin room, although only 1 person having breakfast...definitely over priced!! I stayed at the hotel 3 years ago and the rooms were cleaner and didn't appear to be as run down.

The staff were very helpful and friendly for check in and breakfast. The rooms are spacious and clean, overall a great place to stay and nothing bad to say
There's no parking as the hotel is in the centre of town but there's a long stay car park 6 min walk away that was cheap and safe.

The location
The temperature in the bedrooms was overly hot and it was not possible to turn the radiator off. This resulted in having to have the only small window accessible open. Unfortunately because our room was above the alleyway and rear entrance of the hotel, the subsequent noise of party revellers leaving the hotel disrupted our sleep well into the early hours.
I would also like to add that the standard of cleaning in the room was not particularly good, especially in the bathroom.

Attractive old building , nice staff
Dreadful bedroom - no 7 - should not be used , ‘view’ onto mucky flat roof with a plastic hedge hiding an unbelievably noisy generator which seems to run from 5.30 am till late at night . The room was as hot as hades, not very clean and it rates as the worst night I have ever spent in a hotel - ever !

The hotel is located in the center of Cirencester which was great for site seeing. The staff were excellent and very helpful from check in through to the bar staff and restaurant and house keeping. A really great group of people.
There was nothing we did not like about The Fleece Hotel.

The property downstairs is lovely, breakfasts were great but the rooms….so in need of a refresh. Very dark with dark wallpaper, cupboards painted black. The windows are very small so made the room feel claustrophobic with lack of light and dark colors. I get that they wanted a period feel but needs to be lightened up. The bathroom was tiny and shower had decorative ‘tin’ tiles. Very odd choice. Felt grubby and old.
Staff were nice enough to call me that I left a bottle of conditioner! We were in room 10, can’t speak to other rooms.

The staff were lovely, and the food was good. The location was great, and the car park information provided on the booking.com page was helpful.
I'd like to say upfront, that we did not raise our issues with the staff during our stay, as we had already inquired to see if we could move rooms, and were advised the hotel was full so we were unable to. Therefore we didn't see the point in this conversation with the FOH staff, as they were all pleasant.
We'd been looking forward to our stay, but we left disappointed. Our room was exceptionally small - we booked the 'small double room', and whilst there was a measurement online, I don't believe this means much to most people. The room was the smallest I've ever been in.
We found a used earplug near the top of the bed upon entering our room. There was no aircon, and instead we had a fan placed in our room. However this fan was covered in dust. One of the towels in our room was marked and dirty. As it was so hot that weekend, we tried to open the second tiny window, but there were cobwebs and spiders, all of which didn't give us confidence in the cleanliness of the room.
This room also overlooks the alley at the back of the hotel / pub, so you get the catering noises until late in the evening - if you didn't have to have the window open it would be fine.
The shower seal at the bottom of the shower door fell off during the first use. The shower gets the floor soaking wet in the bathroom which we ended up mopping up after each use. There was also mould in the shower, with cracking tiles and paint peeling on the ceiling of the bathroom.
There wasn't enough space for either of us to open our (small) suitcases and leave it open, we were constantly opening and closing things. I couldn't even get round the foot of the bed without shimmying sideways against the wall. We paid £270 for this room and what we got for it categorically does not correlate. Avoid booking this room type - I'm sure the bigger rooms are much nicer!

Full vegan breakfast in the beautiful dining room was awesome! Great bar downstairs that we enjoyed as well. Close to the high street. We loved it!

The location and staff.
The many stairs, there was an intermittent hum of varying lengths all night keeping us awake and for dinner and breakfast we were put at a tiny table behind a screen. Not the stay I was looking forward to.

There were several general gripes, when all put together made our stay disappointing. For example, ordered Americana coffee, expresso came in large cup, asked for water to top up and then it was serviced without milk. Evening meal had a soup on the menu that we had already sampled at local cafe and thought we were going to get similar, it was not at all up to the same standards, was returned to the kitchen because it was cold. We were left waiting for over 20 mins for the soup to be heated up. It was returned to the table, appeared to be microwaved and not stirred and the middle of the soup was much hotter than the outsides. Main meal was just about warm enough to eat and quite clearly had been standing somewhere for some time. Arrived early, and although we understood our room may not be ready, it was not a friendly welcome and we were informed to return no earlier than 3.30pm.
These are just examples of several small but significant things that really make a stay, "ok", but wouldn't choose to go again as opposed to "love to book again".
We would like to say that most members of staff were extremely helpful and did go out of their way to ensure we were comfortable It was a shame that the welcoming service by one member of staff spoilt it.

Location was spot on and the staff were really welcoming and helpful.
The hotel looks very tired and messy in places. It desperately needs redecorating and freshening up.
