Historical information about the history of the hotel
Location wasn't that great even though it was close to the lake.No view either the side of the room.

Location was very good. But staff had not made their attention about booking which I did through booking.com. They had thought as we were not coming, and they didn't contact me even I had given my contact number. I had to checked-in bit late due to issue of my vehicle. Room was not ready for three guests, and we had to stay in one bed for one night.
Anyway those staff seemed very good. But it is better make sure not to happen like those incidents again. Thanks.
Staff were very good but their attention was for booking was not enough as I felt.

Room was a good size, bed was comfortable, staff were friendly and very helpful.
Our rooms were at the back of the hotel and on the Saturday night there was a loud party outside in the garden. It didn't go too late, but it woul have been nice to have been advised there was going to be a party.

The Hotel is in a good location for seeing all the sights in Kandy. There was a good selection for breakfast and dinner. We stayed 3 nights and would use this hotel again.

Beautiful hotel but in need of some TLC. Bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food.
The hotel needs redecorating. The original features are so lovely but small things need repairing or replacing. Also, the snooker table isn't usable, especially for 1000 rupees for half an hour. The slate is
scratched, just let guests play for free or get it fixed.

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Alarm went off for 1.5 hours at night in my room. When I asked to switch rooms they only offered me downgraded rooms with less beds (I have 3 young kids and that doesn't work). After the alarm was fixed the AC stopped working and the fan was a safety hazard and looked like it could fall at any minute. When I went to complain and ask for another room (it was unbearably hot) there was nobody at reception available. All 5 of us barely slept.
Even worse, in the morning the employee working at reception offered to reduce the cost of my room for my troubles. I thanked him and went on my way. Later that day his manager called and berated the poor employee over the phone and said that I needed to pay in full which was not agreed upon. Then without my authorization they charged my credit card the additional cost. Buyer beware.

Historical building, nice seating area in the garden, life music during dinner time, first we got rooms with broken and dirty windows and with bad smell (stale, mold) and because we were not happy with it, they changed our rooms which were more comfortable and clean
very dirty balcony, broken and dirty pool and playground area, no meal choice for kids, very poor buffet for vegetarian

Though I was not travelling for work, I did have to conduct some meetings online while I was there. When the internet was not strong enough, the hotel very kindly fixed the problem and gave me a router. I know that in the present situation everything is not perfect, but the attitude of the hotel staff and their willingness to assist me was very much appreciated.
Due to the COVID situation in Hong Kong, my return flight got cancelled and I had to extend my stay. The hotel assisted me in this.
I had no complaints.

The location is easy to access many attractions in the city and able to park the vehicle in the property.
They charged me for the whole when I check-in it was an unusual and unpleasant welcome. The breakfast was terrible and the staff was helpless on the new year's morning. I felt disappointed with the service offered by the staff.

Great belle-epoque place. Spacious rooms, nice pool, nice lake view from one of the rooms, and walking distance to the city centre. Nice buffet breakfast.
Well one of the rare Kandy hotels where the price in USD has considerably gone down over the last 10 years. Reason is lack of investment/renovation. So yes e.g. curtains and stairs and elevators get a little bit dated feel. But it's still spotlessly clean and quite okay, a lot better than its sibling hotel in town Queens!

A beautiful hotel in a great location BUT the staff made the real difference. Some of the best, most attentive I've ever stayed with.

Beautiful rooms and historical building.
Beautiful building and rooms wasted on poor management and service. Don’t bother ordering a la carte at their restaurant as they will just put something together from their huge buffet - not even what you order. The buffet is a good example that a big buffet doesn’t mean good quality food. Make sure to be there early as the food gets rather cold. Facilities are lacking as well as service.

Very nice heritage property. Staff very co-operative and helpful. Location was easy access for Kandy. 10/15 minutes walk
Pool area could do with a bit of attention but given two years of very little trade, it is understandable
1.5
Staff was helpful and great communication, but hotel maintenance and services are very poor.
Cleanliness and food
2.0
Such wonderful staff and clean rooms.
We didn’t like the breakfast and the hotel is right by the main street so you can hear loud traffic by the pool. You didn’t notice it from the rooms though.
