Planning a group getaway or large family retreat? This remodeled historic castle - a seven-bedroom Oceanside vacation rental - offers spacious gathering areas, a gourmet main kitchen, a dog-friendly attitude, and stunning panoramic ocean views. Thoughtful upgrades include fresh paint, new furniture, and wall art throughout. It is made up of three distinct areas letting your group experience both togetherness and privacy. The main part of this castle features a spacious living area with room for the whole group. Snuggle down into the sectional for an evening of movies, socializing, and relaxing.
Cook a meal for just a few or up to 17 in the gourmet kitchen. There's custom cabinetry, a breakfast bar, and extras like a coffee grinder, mixer and a blender. There is ample room for at least 17 guests to enjoy dinner at the various seating areas in the main level.
You can watch for whales at the cozy window seat or play games and puzzles while you look out at the ocean and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. There are also balconies and many quiet spots throughout this main space to sit with a book and a glass of wine.
In another section of the home, there is a lovely area with a cozy living room, small full kitchen with an eating area under a turret ceiling, a private covered balcony and gorgeous panoramic views.
The third addition also has a beautifully designed living room, dining room, and full kitchen. This part of the castle also has a balcony and ocean views from many of the windows. Berni's Castle is ideal for up to three families or groups traveling together - each can have their own space, but there are plenty of common areas (indoors and out) to socialize as a group. Other amenities throughout the whole home include three sets of washers and dryers, WiFi, a CD player, and an iPod dock. There is a TV and DVD player in each of the three units, as well as three private deck areas. There is also a large common deck with ocean views and a grill for guest use. Guests can also make unlimited long distance calls in the United States.
From here, it's just a 5-minute walk to beach access. Oceanside boasts a long stretch of sand, perfect for exploring and going on long, leisurely walks. On days you don't feel like cooking, the whole group can wander down to the popular Roseanna's Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. In nearby Tillamook, you can fish, golf, or sample an array of cheese and ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. If you want to get out and explore further, take the 40-mile drive along the Three Capes Scenic Route - just expect to stop the car frequently for scenic viewpoints and photo ops.
A stay at this legendary Oceanside vacation home includes gorgeous 180-degree ocean views, modern amenities, and a great location just steps from the sand!

-well stocked kitchen
-big TVs in main rooms and bedrooms
-Alexa speakers throughout the house

-having separate units was great for some added privacy for each of the families
-short but hilly walk to the beach

Such a great house with great views. So clean and well appointed. LOVE all the pictures on the walls in each unit. We’ve been staying here for 15+ years and will keep coming back. The beach is so beautiful and fun and the tide pools that come out at low tide are awesome (you have to go through the tunnel to get to them). Super easy access to Cape Meares lighthouse area - be sure to spend an afternoon over there, all the sights and hikes are worth seeing/doing.

This house was great for multiple families who needed their own sleeping areas. Three units with in one house. The door codes given for each unit did not work but after a couple calls to Vacasa they were able to give new codes that worked. After a drive to town where cell service was available. Recommend a back up plan if codes don’t work.

Our group of seven friends were very pleased with our accommodations, very well appointed and comfortable for all.

We loved the location and accommodation. Fit our family well while we were there for difficult circumstances.
Entry into one of units was not working & since most of us didn’t even have cell service made it difficult to contact. Finally my husband’s phone worked.
2 of the units have ant problems and using taro is not taking care of it, need professional assistance. Bedding should be updated.
The few things that weren’t the best circumstances did not take away from enjoying this property immensely. Well maybe the ant situation haha, I absolutely hate them 😁

Perfect set up for our entire family. We had 10 people and having the 3 separate units was great. Main unit perfect for all of us to gather for meals and family time.

The only problem we had was getting into the units. The codes that were given us were not usable and without having a savy family member engineer we would not been able to access any of the units.. We did call and we got someone to get us into the main unit and explained to us that the codes were not correct. But except for that we had a marvelous time and each unit was well equipped and comfortable.

I wanted so bad to love this home, we’ve stayed here before but it’s been several years. Units 1 and 2 were very good. Unit 3 is in need of some help. All the units have great flooring and the walls and trim are in very good condition. The bathrooms also are really nice for a beach house and it was also very clean for a vacation rental. It started off that we couldn’t even access Unit 3 for many hours. It’s not Vacasa’s fault, there is zero cell signal there so no way to contact them for help. After we finally got in, we noticed right away the dining room light fixture didn’t work at all. And there are no other lights over that area. So imagine our disappointment that the main table couldn’t be used for the games and puzzles we’d brought. Vacasa was great and sent out Jeremy right away who was wonderful. He fixed everything he could but it still didn’t work. The owner would have to approve and electrician to replace the fixture but that didn’t happen. When we pay 7 grand for four nights you can imagine how upsetting that was. Unit 3 has multiple other light bulbs out, many screens missing, broken window mechanisms, broken kitchen cabinets, the dishwasher is a broken disaster, so is the faucet on the main sink, no hot pads and no baking sheets. Unit three just needs some TLC, then all future renters will be spared our bad experience.

Set up is hard to find and very welcome. With three separate units everyone has their own space, privacy and quiet time, but can all gather for meals in the center section. Definitely walkable to the beach and we had some great weather.
We would be happy to return.

I had to give it three stars because of non-functioning/maintenance items in the main unit (#3). The grill: the burners were so caked with grease that once we managed to get it lit (the igniter didn't work), it didn't produce enough heat to cook anything. Judging from the build up at the bottom under the burners, the unit had never been cleaned. We had to use the stove both nights, however the exhaust fan above it didn't run, at all. Also the bottom rack of the dishwasher was missing a wheel, so it automatically derailed itself constantly. On a positive note, the new deck off the main unit is a great addition.
For $1600+/night I expected working appliances.

The house was very comfortable, and the view was gorgeous. It would have been nice if the master suite was available.

The property location was terrific, the house was just so-so, bordering on not OK. Lots of condition issues, including windows, dishwasher, bathroom fixtures that were broken. We paid a premium price for a sub-par accommodation. We’ll come back to Oceanside but won’t be renting this home again.

Best blended family vacation home!!
Plenty of space, games, and all you need in the kitchen! I rented the 3 units for a family holiday weekend and it was such an incredible time and home that help fill memorable moments.

Wonderful vacation home
This lovely home on the Oregon coast was perfect for our family holiday gathering.

Great for extended family. Great ocean view.
Excellent views of ocean and arch rocks and a spacious, open common area in the main unit for all of us to gather for meals and gaming. Separate units upstairs provided a space to get away when needed. Less than 10 minutes walk down hill to beach.

Awesome 3 unit home. Close to the beach and had plenty of space for 16 of us. Nice to have units to separate the families into when it was night. Great view of the beach. Close enough to walk down to the beach. Didn't have any contact with the owners but was still very easy to access on check-in. Main unit had everything to cook meals, games, and seating to host everyone in. One of the units did have a little bit of a mold issue in the bathroom. Otherwise everything was great!

Family Celebration
The 3 unique apartments were wonderful to be able to have space between meals. The view is spectacular from each unit. We had 11 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs Excellent experience for all. The BBQ was out of propane. I called and they said to keep the receipt. Still waiting to hear back on reimbursement for the new tank? Other than that very nice place.

Will stay again
Great view from the ocean and coastline. Sadly, couldn't enjoy outdoor decks due to weather, but would be awesome on the right day. Good location - beach walkable (but uphill on way back), light house, and good hikes close by. Accommodations were good in all 3 units. Kitchen was good and held up to making meals for 11ppl 3x a day. A few notes: you have to go outside with no cover to walk between units. Made it a bit wet and messy with kids during storms. / If you or someone has mobility issues, the main unit is down a staircase which does get wet.

Family perfection in oceanside
We love this property for our family reunions. 7 bedrooms, main room can accommodate all of us for meals, with privacy in the other two units as well. Good cooking kitchen and can feed them all in the main room. Easy walk to the beach. The addition of the new outside deck makes it even more perfect.

Fun setup and great location
The 'castle' is broken up into 3 seperate units to be clear. It was actually nice having the divided space because so people could have some privacy. Views are amazing, house is kept well.

Spectacular Vacation in This Home
10 family members vacationed in Berni's Castle, and our time in this home was so wonderful! The view is incredible. We had all the comforts we needed, and the home is really well-equipped. We ran low on propane for the grill, and they even offered to bring a replacement tank on the 4th of July. We liked the fairly steep walk down to and back from the beach, because it helped work off the calories from Tillamook cheese and ice cream, wine and the incredible food from Rosanna's cafe and Blue Agate Cafe in Oceanside. Oceanside Beach State Park, Tunnel Beach, and Short Beach are very close and all phenomenal. Blue Heron French Cheese Company and Tillamook Creamery were both really cool. We enjoyed the hour drive north to Ecola State Park and all the picturesque towns in between. We loved the hour and 20 minute drive to Depoe Bay to watch lots of whales with the helpful and friendly Whale's Tail Charters and all the lovely towns on the Three Capes Scenic Tour. The views from Cape Meares are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and it's only a few minutes away. We found the 2 grocery stores in Netarts to have most anything we wanted, and they are only a few minutes from the house. Safeway in Tillamook has pickup available, and it's only about 15 minutes away. Don't miss Tillamook cheese, Tillamook ice cream, Willamette wine, and Jacobson salts. Twist Wine Company has great wine made in the Willamette Valley, and they have a tasting room in Pacific City. We flew into Portland and loved seeing Multnomah Falls, just 20 minutes from the airport. I recommend using Sasquatch Shuttle & Parking. You can see many waterfalls and the Columbia River from their routes, and you can hop on and off their busses all day for one low price. There were so many incredible things about this home and the area, and it was the trip of a lifetime!

Great family vacation spot!!
Oceanside is absolutely delightful! Bernie’s is big enough to accommodate a large family and still give people a little space. The walk to the beach is fun and short, though it might be difficult for handicapped or those lugging toddlers! Those who need to can drive. Parking is good. The views and decks are spectacular!!

Beautiful view, beautiful place!
Loved our stay! A little farther from the beach than anticipated, about a 5min walk downhill to get there, 10ish min uphill to get back. But the height and short distance make for spectacular beach views. 3 units great for multiple families (especially when trying to social distance). Property manager a little slow to answer questions before check-in, but super quick to respond to minor issues while we were there (battery for smoke alarm, etc)
Would definitely recommend!

Clean, well furnished, beautiful view of the ocean and the "Three Arches," and quiet, relaxing location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Always a great place to stay
This is our second time at Berni's for an annual fishing adventure in the winter. It's a big place with an amazing view and lots of space for lots of folks. The house is well stocked with all necessary cookware and drinkware. Just bring your self, food and drink and have a great time. One small bummer is that the bbq's never really work very well. I realize they are getting beaten up by the salty Oregon coastal fog but they really need to be updated more frequently.

Family weekend
Excellent property for family our group gatherings. We had all 3 together and loved the view and location. Easily fit us all in.

Fantastic view and space for a big family
This worked so well for our large, multi-generational family gathering. Families with kids used upstairs units for sleeping and we spent the day, evening and all our meals in the larger unit. Kitchens are very well equipped. Furniture is comfy, even on the deck. The appliances in the main unit are big and very good. And really, that view cannot be beat.

October visit
The views were incredible, the house well stocked. One unit was not as clean as the others. But overall a very nice place to rent. The walk to the beach was a bit longer, but worth it!

Beautiful views of the Oregon coast. Great natural experiences, low tide adventures are a must! Close to great hiking trails. Peace and tranquility!!

Fantastic!
The pictures do not capture the beauty of this place. We were there with 2 other families, 15 total and the place worked out wonderfully for us. It was clean, comfortable and centrally located. I cannot say enough about the ocean views from every unit. They were breathtaking. Things to do close by: Munson Creek Falls, "short hike to the falls", Creamery in Tillamook, clamming in Netarts was a blast! Pelican Brewery in Pacific City is right on the beach, beautiful view with sand dunes. Ocean drive is also just beautiful and we loved all the trees and lush greenery on the drive from Portland. We also saw elk in the stream on our drive to Oceanside which was exciting. It was a fabulous trip! Thank you so much!

Beautiful, well-kept house that held our large family gathering.

Gorgeous Home - Perfect for family reunion
This is the third year we've been to Berni's Castle. We love everything about the home, from the open layout, the fully stocked kitchen, the games and the incredible little nook with amazing ocean views. We hope to come back every year for a visit.

Great place to stay
I reccomend Bernie's Castle for all large get togethers. Families can have their private space and join in the main area for meals, games, celebrations, etc. The view is perfect, especially for rainy days when staying dry and warm and still enjoying the beach.

Celebrating a Centurion!
Four generations of our family traveled to Oceanside from as far away as NYC to celebrate our Mother's 100th birthday. The 3-day weekend was magnificent and Bernie's Ocean View Castle was the perfect home away from home for all our families- age 3 to 100.

Family gathering for wedding
Berni's Castle was everything I hoped it would be. It was large enough to gather our big group. Yet little ones and older ones could get away from everyone else for a nap. Well stocked. Thanks
