About this cottage rental
The Oyster House is a beautifully restored holiday home that provides a truly relaxing escape along Donegal's Wild Atlantic Way. Its tranquil coastal setting means the visitor can indulge their love of a life overlooking the waves, where bracing sea air meets the rugged coastline of the Rosses.
A Little Path from the Garden to the Sea
The Oyster House is a beautiful retreat in a peaceful and stunning location right by the water’s edge. With panoramic views over Traighenna Bay, it is the ideal spot to sit and relax on the outside covered terrace watching the sunset, or you can even take a stroll down the little path leading from the garden to the shore. The perfect location for peace, nature and relaxation.
Located Along the Wild Atlantic Way
The Oyster House lies along a narrow winding coastal road that overlooks Traighenna Bay. It is situated halfway (7km) between the town of Dungloe and the small coastal village of Lettermacaward. It is also halfway (10km) between two of the finest beaches in West Donegal - Dooey Strand and Maghery Beach.
Panoramic Coastal Views
At The Oyster House you'll find you won't always need to go outside to enjoy the sea views, as the holiday home is designed for you to make the most of the coast from the inside too with its large open-plan kitchen dining and living spaces featuring patio doors and windows all perfectly positioned to welcome in as much light as possible.
A Beautifully Restored Building
This exquisite holiday home sleeps up to eight people in three bedrooms. All the rooms have been lovingly renovated to ensure the original character and charm resonates throughout while adding modern comforts. All you have to do is relax and enjoy its very stylish interior with coastal-themed artefacts and soft, comfortable furnishings.
Decking with a View
Why not open up the patio doors and head out onto the furnished decking, where you'll find all you need for a relaxing evening meal set against the soothing soundscape of gentle waves as the evening sunsets over the coastline - bliss!. If the sea breeze gets too strong you can retire to the sheltered patio area on the land side of the house.
Back inside in the living area, you'll find a comfortable sofa and a wood burning stove - perfect for relaxing with a good book. There's a tv and DVD player for an occasionally different view! Prepare your catch of the day in the well-equipped kitchen, with its electric oven and ceramic hob. There's a microwave and dishwasher to help save on time.
A Relaxing Coastal Retreat
So come and live an invigorating coastal life with a relaxing and reviving break at the beautifully located, delightfully renovated Oyster House won't regret it!

This place is special. Amazing location, Anazing view, Amazing house. The perfect Ireland get away.

We originally booked this location for a June 2020 trip to Ireland; however, COVID restrictions eliminated this vacation. I never stopped thinking about this location. We FINALLY got it back on track, and I immediately booked this location.
The location is perfect. The bay is visible from the home, and I spent most mornings drinking coffee, writing, and watching the sea. Quiet and contemplative. The furniture is comfortable and laid out nicely. Loved the wood floors and the quaintness of the home (felt like a step back in time). The first day, a friendly horse greeted us. Caroline was excellent, helping us solve a couple of riddles that confounded unfamiliar Americans with how things work in Irish homes. This home was the magical center of my time in Ireland. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

A beautiful cottage, decor is so pretty. Greeted with tea, coffee, hot chocolate milk and fresh scones. A fire of the bay and the oyster farm at the bottom of the garden. Thank you to Caroline for checking in with us and Natasha for a wonderful stay in her amazing cottage.

A great location for touring Donegal situated in a lovely bay with fantastic views. Though unable to use the outside area (weather) this would be lovely for breakfast, lunch, lazing, and sundowners.

Wonderful stay. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful views, can watch the oyster farmers at low tide. Lots of birds to watch in backyard. Warm scones, milk and fresh roses waiting for us on arrival. Highly recommend.

The house is beautifully located by the water and has a great outdoor seating area. It is centrally located in Co Donegal to be able to explore this wonderful part of Ireland. The house is well appointed with a large kitchen and dining area which opens out onto the deck.

Our family absolutely loved the house! Especially walking in to the beautiful view, with fresh scones waiting for you. It was perfect to sit and enjoy, and ideally located to venture off to other wonders of County Donegal. Close to the supermarket and a quick drive to Dungloe town with ample restaurants/pubs. A big thanks to our host!

The cottage and views look good in the pictures, but they don’t to it justice. It’s beautiful. Perfect for a weekend escape.

Quiet Donegal coast retreat
The cottage is located on the beautiful and unspoilt Traigheanna Bay, with views out to the Atlantic Ocean. It is nicely furnished and has a well equipped kitchen. Both the kitchen dining table and the outdoor seating areas are great for catching the sun and admiring the views. 3 good supermarkets available in Dungloe, just 10 minutes drive away. Thoroughly recommended!

The Oyster House—An absolute pearl!
An idyllic haven awaited us between storms last February. This luxurious rock-solid little home kept us warm, safe, and cozy for some wet, wild, wintery weather. This rental provided loads of turf and kindling, phenomenal mattresses, pillows and bedding, a good hot shower (in a lovely large bathroom with a view), super comfy furniture and an open floor plan which provided lots of natural light and superb views of the bay. We will definitely return to our home-away-from-home! (This property is easy to access, is located conveniently to Dungloe, beaches, pubs, shopping, etc. and the property owner was accessible and very responsible.).

Superb experience!
We got understandably distracted by the gorgeous scenery on our drive to Oyster House and lingered taking too many photos. We called Sharon to let her know of our impending arrival, and she very kindly met us in the parking lot at the Lidl in Dungloe and guided us to the house. Fresh made scones and butter awaited us, as well as milk for coffee. The house is as amazing as it’s waterfront location and spectacular views. Every detail shows care and attention to the guests’ comfort The aesthetics of the interior design we’re exceptional. It was a pleasure to be in the house. And the views were transfixing. We enjoyed the sea view from the dining table, from the deck table and from the sweet bench where I took my morning coffee. The location is wonderful because of the remote feeling yet with the convenience of three great stores in Dungloe—Lidl, Aldi and Supervalue, as well as a lovely group of restaurants for lunch and dinner. The closeness to Mt. Erring and Glenveagh NTional Park made this a magical stay. Natasha and her team provide an exceptional experience.
