A very comfortable and cosy cottage, very close to the centre of the village.
I found the hob difficult and couldn't get more than one heating ring to work at a time.

Great location, spacious living room and comfortable bedrooms.
I guess the bathroom could be modernised a little but it wasn’t an issue for us

The location was superb. It was situated right next to Cave Dale - a beautiful walk with views of Pervil Castle. It was on a quiet secluded road, where you could sit outside if you wanted without many people walking by. Castleton has lots of nice pubs and cafes to eat in, so you’re a 2 min walk for lovely food. A great base for travelling to lots of nearby sights like Stanage Edge, Curbar Edge, Padley Gorge and of course Mam Tor (which you can walk to from Castleton). The cottage itself had comfy sofas, a good large table and the bed was also comfy. There was lots of storage space for clothes and hangers in the wardrobes. There was a nice view from the bedroom windows too.
Unfortunately all the nice things about the cottage were offset by a slug infestation in the kitchen and a lack of cleaning done before my stay - the microwave in particular hadn’t been cleaned in a long while, and all the handles and cupboards where dirty. The bathroom had previous occupants hairs on the windowsill and bath too.
I must of gotten rid of over a dozen slugs, and a few snails, over the week of my stay. When I first called about the problem, I was told it was to be expected with an old property and there was nothing they could do. I sent pictures and the owner eventually came round to clean and disinfect the kitchen. That didn’t solve the problem though, as the slugs were coming through the bottom of the back door. And I was told quite rudely, that the cleaner had been sent the day before and there was nothing wrong with the microwave and that a slug must’ve come in on someone’s shoe…the owner ended up cleaning the microwave but did not offer any apology.
The mats in the kitchen must not have been cleaned in a very long time as the long one was absolutely covered in slug slime trails - there was literally no part not covered.
So my self catering trip turned into an eating out trip, as I couldn’t eat or cook in the slug infested kitchen. This made my trip much more expensive than I could really afford. Even making a cup of tea meant cleaning everything down daily. A real shame as the location was brilliant.

Cottage was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. The slight problems we had were sorted very quickly. Ideal position for exploring the High Peaks.
Freezer VERY cold and this affected the fridge above it. Turned it down but needs extra time to defrost! Dripping kitchen tap needs attention! (Reported this).

The location is absolutely perfect, just a short stroll into Castletown and all its facilities.
The property has everything you need and you can tell they are experienced in letting as everything had been thought of.
A very highly recommended rental.

None.

The cottage was very quaint whilst also being larger than the photos suggest. The location was great, right in the centre of Castleton. Kitchen was fully functional and had all utensils you need.
The shower wasn't very good and there was a very slight leak/damp area in one of the bedrooms.
