About this house rental
The Nordic House in the Cove - Meredith Lodging
This beautifully updated historic home sits above Surfer’s Cove, a quiet stretch south of the main beach at Seaside. With two beach access points at each end of the block, it’s easy to get there, and the home has stellar ocean views. It’s also a quick walk to a café, pub, market and Seaside Golf Course, and you can hike to Tillamook Head.
You’ll love the living room’s lively surf décor, the ocean views, the velvety sectionals fronting the gas fireplace, the wall-mounted flat screen TV, and a piano for musical guests. The pretty, fully equipped blue kitchen serves a playful varnished picnic table in the dining room; a large deck with plenty of seating and a gas grill can take your dining options outdoors.
With five bedrooms, you can invite plenty of guests, with a queen bedroom on the main level for easy access and an ocean-view king suite and two queen bedrooms upstairs. The kids will adore the bunk bed with its built-in ladder and porthole, but they’ll also gravitate to the lower level, which has a bonus room with a kitchenette, TV, foosball, electronic instruments, DVD collection, gaming system, an exercise bike.
You’re welcome to bring a dog if it’s under 40 lbs (no dogs upstairs please). Gather your friends and family and enjoy time at the beautiful wood-lined Nordic—you’ll have so many options, from quiet beach walks to the delightful fun of downtown Seaside, for a memorable coastal stay!

Location was perfect. Our only observation is a few things could be updated, for instance; the couch in the l/r has seen better days and it would be great if the screws on the d/r table could be cut off as one of our party scraped his leg on one. We did like the basement for foosball snd games as those who needed sleep could not hear us. Thank you.

Check in code didn’t work and no body answered the phone. Waited about 15-20 minutes then someone called me back and reset the code. Overall not too bad. He was very helpful and apologetic.

family vacation

Family from Utah, visiting old haunts. It was quiet and had plenty of room. One elderly person in our group fell off the first step on upstairs landing....should be marked better. Sugar ants became a problem even though we kept food picked up and surfaces clean. Didnt know we needed to buy dishwasher soap, could have used a baking sheet. They said they had board games and toys for kids, never found them. Overall was a great stay, nice house and all had fun.

The house was clean and easy to find. However, we are nearing our 80s and going up a flight of stairs to get to the living area was difficult. It should be stated that you enter on the basement level, go up a steep, slight flight of stairs to the living room. And carry all your stuff up the flight of stairs. Additionally, they must’ve taken pictures of the rooms with a wide angle lens because the pictures were not accurate. Most of all an ocean view was advertised, ha another steep flight of stairs to get to the top story and look out a bedroom window to see the pie shaped view of the ocean. We are not new to renting houses at the beach, this one was a huge disappointment.

Lots of space for family to enjoy family get-together. Easy check in & out process. Well equipped with everything we need. Easy to reach property manager when we have a problem with electricity. Highly recommended!

We rented this house each summer for 10-years, prior to about 2015 when it was withdrawn as a rental. Our return this year overall was a GREAT reuniting for our family to the house, and we really appreciated the several improvements. However, my family asked me to mention two concerns the manager & owner should address right away. First, the top floor shower head has a leak at the pivot joints. Second, the south end top floor bedroom's front windows had notes stating, "Do Not Open." Although there are two side windows, fresh flow-through air would improve if the front windows operated. In conclusion - We would rent this home again, as the two concerns are fixable and minor to the family memories it provided to each of us. Oh, Meredith Lodging, thank you so much for the quick response to our additional towel request.

This house accommodated our family of 10 well. However, the home wasn't ready for check-in at 4 and took longer to get in as the housecleaner was still cleaning saying there was a shortage of cleaners . So probably because of that the home was not cleaned as well as follows: main level bathroom tub had a lot of sand in the bottom of the tub & toilet not cleaned well; cookie crumbs found in the pullout sleeper downstairs and also in a blanket upstairs as well as other debris on the carpets. As for the home itself, front door keypad didn't work and there were few outlets for recharging electronic devices throughout the house. There were also only a few bath towels and wash cloths including a small supply of toilet paper; few kitchen towels and dish cloths, all of which took over a day to get after calling.
We did like the location, roominess both inside and out on the deck and closeness to the beach. And the closets were supplied with a good amount of pillows and blankets.

Quiet end of town and beach. Very large home with plenty of room to spread out. Good amenities for teens, young adults. Close to beach. Had most everything needed for cooking. Couldn't find a cookie pan, and the toaster didn't work. Overall a good find.

The house looks old on the outside but it is really nyce in the inside a lot of spacious room and we really had a great time.

It's a lovely 1970s home in a quiet n'borhood. Not exactly on the prom - in fact, it's kind of tricky to find your way to the beach. I felt like a trespasser when making my way there. And you must call when you arrive to find out how to make your entrance into the home. There's one more thing to do than what you're told beforehand, but once in, very comfortable. When I called to ask where the pool was, I was told that's VRBO's fault. No pool. VRBO even provided the jacuzzi wasn't in working order - so we hoped it would work when we arrived - but no jacuzzi. When we called to inquire about the pool, we were told that we weren't charged a pool FEE? so there was nothing they could do. We won't return to this rental, but the home is nice. Next time we'll go for a condo with a pool.

Payout was awesome for our big family. Enough privacy. And area to have fun!
Only feedback. There were no baking sheets, not enough towels, and the toaster was broken.

This was a great place, lots of room. If you have a large family and need to cook meals bring your own pot and pan, cooking sheets and knifes. We struggled with meals because the kitchen was not well stocked. Then beds were comfy and sheets were clean. Overall it was a good place.

I would definitely rent this property again. It was everything we wanted and more!

This home was easy and comfortable for our group. I think it’s important to note that the bathrooms are quite small for such a large home and while most of the bedrooms are on the second floor, there is only one very small bathroom up there for four bedrooms. The third bathroom is in the basement with no bedrooms on that level. The house had plenty of blankets, pillows, towels, etc. for everyone to be comfortable. Beach access is easy and the sound of the ocean is divine.

We have stayed every Thanksgiving in Seaside for the last 15+ years and have never stayed in such an Ill-equipped and worn out property. Kitchen was not even close to having cooking necessities - no cookie sheets, broken can openers, no baking dishes, and old skillets and pans. Difficult to cook for 10 people! The Dishwasher didn’t even clean well.
The mattresses, bedding and such were worn out to the point it was tough to rest well in several of the bedrooms. Lighting in main floor area was poor and the seating was minimal. Couch was a pretty navy velour type material, but again worn out to the point you had to struggle to get out - young adults as well! Couldn’t even keep the main level TV hooked to cable provider. Not good for a football watching crowd. :( This was a premium host, which should have been at least better than run of the mill for the holiday stay. But by no means was that the experience. This was a tired house in need of serious updating and attention. Very disappointed

9 family members with only 2 functioning bath rooms called repeatedly for maintenance took 2 days and than they were unable to fix. Asked for a plumber never heard back. Have tried repeatedly to speak to a representative of Meredith Lodging and have yet to hear from them

The home itself was clean, well taken care of and we really enjoyed our stay. There were no issues that were severe enough to contact the property manager. The coolest feature was the basement bathroom, the decorations were amazing. The beds were all comfy. Couple of items to be aware of: Front door locking mechanism only worked with a key, the mechanism tried to open the lock, but it didn't work. The toilet on the main floor was quirky, it worked, just need to hold the handle down longer than the norm. Bring your own utensils, there was not very many spoons or knives but all other kitchen items were plentiful. The yard needs a serious grooming, there are multiple sticker bushes that are overwhelming the path and growing through a downstairs window and up the deck stairs. It was a great place to stay for the week.

Adequate
When we arrived, half of the house did not have electricity. I found the fuse box and turned it back on. We had issues with the TV and internet which I reported and was told someone would come that night. No one came. Then we discovered the toilet on the main floor didn’t flush. This had been reported in earlier reviews but I assumed it had been corrected. I reported that and no one came to fix that either. The interior is outdated and there is a musty smell throughout the house. All in all, it was a so-so property in a nice location.

Last minute Bday weekend
Despite having an ant issue in the upstairs bathroom/bedroom causing our daughters to sleep elsewhere, several windows had a note saying not to open and a minor plumbing (bathroom) issue on the main floor, our stay was okay. The floor plan layout was nice, plenty of room. The beach access was quick and easy.

Quick getaway to the beach
Relaxing and peaceful weekend. Gorgeous beach just a few minutes walk from the house. Four minute drive to Prom with lots of shops and restaurant options. Tons of room in the house. My 2 year old Golden had her best weekend!

Peaceful Location
Only one block away from the beach, you can hear the ocean while relaxing on the deck. Enjoy the magnificent views walking along the beach or promenade to a charming downtown. (a little over 2 miles one way)
The house is well maintained and adequately clean. Kitchen was workable but pots and pans should be replaced.
Take note: Spa is still unavailable.
Overall this is a good place to stay. Hopefully the management will follow through on improvements we suggested.
Their response to our needs was very good.

Great getaway
This was a nice vacation for a week for the four of us. There was tons of space, enough for people to do their own thing in comfort. Some previous comments had us a bit worried about a smell or non-functioning bathroom, but we found everything to be in well working condition and had no issues. It's on the south end of the town, so there are only limited things immediately nearby (except the beach which is a short walk, complete with a painted rock path the kids loved). It's a super short drive (5 min) to Safeway and into the northern end of town and parking wasn't a problem. The kids (8 and 5 years old) loved the foozball table, playing on the deck and the sea-themed shower and toilet. We'd stay again - thanks for a nice vacation!

Wonderful house in a great neighborhood.
two families stayed here with kids ranging from 9-18. The house is wonderfully designed for such a group with game room, different sizes of beds, and good living/eating spaces. The location was very close to the beach and in a lovely neighborhood. About a mile walk to the center of Seaside along the promenade, or a few minutes drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Plenty of room and close to the beach
Short stay. Nice to have laundry. The big couch in the main room was so comfortable and plenty of room for 3-4 people to lounge. Game console downstairs kept teenager occupied. Kitchen was big and bright and we had a great family meal our last night.

Great Large House!
Nice big house with some ocean views, mostly from some of the upstairs bedrooms. Overall the property was very clean and neat. The house had a bit of a musty smell so I bought glade plug ins for all the floors and that helped. The landscaping was overgrown and I got scratched on blackberry brambles. Landscaping desperately need cut back. The shower on the main floor had no hot water, but the property manager came to fix it very fast. The downstairs toilet did not work and the manager could not fix it. It was difficult not to have that third bathroom for the entire stay. Still we enjoyed all of the large televisions and everyone had a place to escape to when needed. Kitchen was nice and stocked well for a rental.

Nice place but a few issues
The sauna did not work. The toilet on the lower level would not flush and there was a foul smell (septic) coming from under the deck. . There were urine stains on the carpet from a previous guests. The house itself is quite nice and in a great spot.

Excellent beach trip 2021
Our daughters did a great job during the pandemic, one receiving her Master’s degree and the other finished Law School. This was a celebratory weekend and first time we could get together in a year. The house was huge, and quite lovely. The party of ten fit nicely!

Enjoyed The Nordic!
We had a great stay in Seaside... the house was super, and the property manager was accessible and timely when we needed a working toaster. Online listing was accurate... great space for a multigenerational family!

Unfortunately, one of the most disappointing stays.
Unfortunately I can not write a good review for this house/property management company. The house itself was a good location and described as is. But as a large group including young children and a dog we we were blindsided by the fact that we showed up from out of state for a long weekend and the house was completely uncleaned. Trash/food still in garbages, sheets and towels pilled up in the laundry room, surfaces uncleaned, bathrooms gross and untouched. Because of COVID it was a later arrival time to assure proper cleaning. After calling property management and sorting through what had happened we were informed that the septic sank was out of service and we were not allowed to stay at the house. We were also told we were supposed to be informed of this situation BEFORE we arrived. Long story short a large group of us had to find hotel rooms last minute for the evening during spring break with children and with a dog. It put quite the damper on our weekend and needless to say I will not stay with Meredith lodging again. The communication was so poor and even with a refund and voucher, I did not feel that was sufficient for the amount of hardship caused by the property management. We ended up finding a hotel room around 8:30:9:00pm. This was not the family vacation we were hoping for. I would not book with this management company again!!

Beautiful home and location
This house was perfect for our stay. Plenty of bedrooms, plenty of space, cool layout, and amazing location. The only issue was the water would only get to luke warm/room temperature at best, so there may have been an issue with the water heater. Otherwise, it was perfect, especially the sauna!

Calm and relaxed
The views from the bedrooms located on the westside of the house have awesome views of the ocean, close to beach entry, very quiet, walking distance to great breakfast place, and the house had so many amenities for my family. Definitely a place to relax and enjoy the sunsets.

Exactly as advertized, great location
The house was great and exactly as pictured. The location was fantastic as well. Right near less crowded stretch of the beach. Would stay again.
