Large room. Nice
No tea , coffee facilities in room. No iron . 1 iron for so many rooms.
3.0 / 5.0
Mainly the location and the staff
The room itself was tired. The bath was very old and should have been replaced many years ago.

Reception staff were friendly, the room was clean and reasonably comfortable albeit typical of a 'chain' type room. The air conditioning was very welcome during the July 2023 heat dome that affected the whole of Italy with exceptionally high temperatures.
The bar that was detailed in the facilities had been closed during the pandemic lockdowns then has never been opened again. This was more than disappointing. The breakfast was the same food every day with no variation.

Our room was very large and comfortable - almost a suite. Good breakfast buffet. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location within the historic central area and easy walking distance to all the main sites.
Only problem was parking - we had a rental car and the hotel does provide very limited on street parking. They basically charge a daily fee so that one of their staff finds somewhere on the street to park the vehicle for you. This doesn't feel particularly secure, and when we dropped off the car we were charged by the rental company for a small scratch on the plastic front bumper of the car which I know we did not do at any time we were actually driving the car, so I suspect it may have happened during the day the car spent parked in the narrow but busy street outside the hotel

Beautiful hotel just a block or so from the university piazza which is at the centre of everything.
A couple of minor gripes, things I would not have minded at a lower star-rated hotel:
Despite the bathroom being mostly finished in marble etc, was surprised to find plastic side panel on bath with a gap. Also apparent deterrent to running a bath as there were no taps, so you had to fill it from the shower head, and the bathplug had been altered so that it would not completely seal, but I removed and replaced the extra fitting. A bit odd when you consider the limited toiletries provided included two tubes of bath foam. And some really slapdash sealant between bath and wall tiles, out of keeping with the superb presentation of the hotel in general. I did not mention to this the hotel.
The TV guide on a sheet in the room gave the number of several English language channels but none of them worked, and difficult to stream anything on ipad as wifi dropped out literally every two minutes. Ended up watching James Bond in Italian. Only there one night in transit on my own. A couple would more likely be out at a restaurant till late and so less likely to notice the limitations of in-room entertainment.

The parking at this hotel was full. Therefore, I had to park outside, where someone broke in and stole some personal belongings. I would recommend to call the hotel before you book and get confirmation you get a parking before. Otherwise book some other hotels nearby with guaranteed parking. This hotel doesn't have enough parking spaces.

ONLY The location of the hotel being in the centre of Catania
My partner and I had two days in Catania and since she had never seen the Etna, I tried to do the possible to show it to her. As soon as we checked-in I noticed an excursion to the Etna on the following day ending at 15.00hrs so I asked the receptionist if we could keep the room till 15.00hrs. The really good-looking Roberta from reception who was very helpful and charming upon booking the excursion, told me yes that it was possible to keep the room but I had to reconfirm on the following morning. On the following day, Roberta who was working again and busy with clients, told me that it was fine to keep the room till 15.00hrs. So happy, we went to the excursion which was excellent but due to huge traffic in the city centre, we arrived at the hotel around 15.25hrs. We went up to the room where we found the room completely clean and our belongings moved! It took us 10 minutes to try to put thins in order and my partner could not even find her new iphone 13 battery charger. Due to this we almost missed our transport to the harbour of Pozzallo, which could have costed us more money!!!
Seeing us in a hurry, the receptionist told me in a very rude way that there was a late check-out charge of 65 euro!!!! I do not know why Roberta did not tell me at first that there was a charge (I could have refused straight away). With 65 euro I could have spent an extra night in another 'better' hotel!!!!! In my opinion, this is a very diplomatic way how to manipulate psychologically clients during their holiday! I had to buy another iphone 13 charger to my partner after being stolen from our room. By the way not even one call from the reception to see how we were after the check-in as during the night we had a huge problem with the air-conditioning in the room, my partner got sick. It was super cold!!!! The reception was impossible to reach by the phone. Service of this hotel is completely ZERO! I will never come to this hotel or look at it, so it made me sick!

Excellent, helpful front desk Staff , no issue to difficult to solve, very forthcoming and professional. Excellent location - close to all main attractions yet quiet enough to provide some rest after hectic day of sightseeing. Go and discover rooftop terrace.
Breakfast is a dissapointment , very basic - comparing to food available outside hotel a bit expensive and avarage quality - waiters non existent. Some fresh vegetables and a bit of an attention from breakfast Staff would have been a great start of the day. Shower at peak hours can be a challenge due to low water pressure at higher (4) floors.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside, with a lovely breakfast service, spacious rooms and secure doors. What we liked most about the place was how quiet it was.

I reallly like the location of the hotel - right next to the main street. lso the staff was very friendly and kind.
I think that the breakfast might be improved for 12 EUR but it was nice though.

The breakfast is good, with enough options to choose from. The location is great and within a walking distance of the main attractions. The staff was great and helped us book a taxi to the airport.
N/A, all is the great

Great hotel in a fabulous location, central and only a few minutes walk to the main historical square and other attractions. Our room was fantastic and the staff were friendly and professional, and gave great recommendations for dinner. Would highly recommend this hotel

great location, friendly staff, comfy bed
my room was at the back of the property and the window faced a tiny airspace between two walls - AKA almost like not having a window. some people said the front area of the hotel is too noisy.. well, the back is dark and airless.
I had a good stay because I was only there for 1 night and the location is extremely convenient to explore Catania Center, but I would have not liked to stay in that dark room for a longer stay.

Location is great and rooms are big and very clean.
1.5 / 5.0
the location is perfect for tourists. short walking distance to major sites in the historical center
the room was very old, outdated and not very clean. the air conditioner barely worked at all, the room was very hot and the AC made a very loud whining noise that made sleeping peacefully difficult

location. good breakfast.
filthy dusty bedspread. poor hygiene throughout. not enough bath towels - we got 2 really needed 4. bathtub drain not working properly. needs to be cleaned. There was a lot of loud noise from restaurant terrace just outside our window (1st floor room) every night until 1:30 AM ON A Thursday. we could not sleep ruined our day. they should not serve drinks and ? food just outside a guest window. Awful.

The location.
Loud noise from the air conditioner system i think, in the courtyard. Our air conditioner didn’t work, we just heard the noise from the others that did. Ask for a room with a city view.
4.0 / 5.0
Location was very close to city center.
Breakfast would be better, different fruits, and gluten free bread, was the same over and over every day.

Location
The hotel is not in good condition - scratches, leaks, damaged furniture. Bad soundproof - you will here everything around. BTW I booked a deluxe room (it has photos of rooftops from rooms window) and guess what I was able to see from window? The ugly wall in 2.5 meters. After short negotiation hotel provided me with better room.

The location of the hotel was amazing. Right in the city centre, it can't get more central. The reception ladies are all super friendly and polite to a point which i was amazed at how great they are. When we asked to be upgraded to another room they immediately supported us and when we had issues with the room they changed us to another room. They offer vallet parking at a cost however as it is really difficult to park in central Catania this was really useful and good and our car was always available in front of the hotel each day. Good price for what it offers
The breakfast was really poor for a 4 star hotel and needs to be improved. Once we booked the room, we had requested for a double bed which was confirmed. Once we arrived they put us in a room where two twin beds were brought up really close to each other so it was not a double bed. One of the two mattresses also was curvy and not good. When we asked the reception about this, they immediately changed us room the next day and got us into a double bed however unfortunately the bed was really squeaky at the point where whenever you even tried to change side you are sleeping, you would wake up from the squeaky noises.
