About this house rental
Snowmobilers... we are located on Bannock Trail so you can sled-in/sled-out to all Cooke City trails! We also have good parking space for trailers.
This luxurious Mountain home sits on the banks of beautiful Soda Butte Creek, with magnificent views of Mount Republic. With 5 beds (sleeps up to 10), 3 bathrooms, and 3000 s.f. of living space, there is plenty of room to spread out, and you'll love the year-round hot-tub and sauna overlooking the creek. Yellowstone National Park is only a few miles away, but you don't have to go anywhere to see abundant wildlife... we have resident fox, deer, elk, buffalo, eagles, and yes... even an occasional bear! The house features a multitude of craftsman features, including stonework, two stone fireplaces (one in the master bedroom), massive pine beams and pillars, covered decks, a soaring cathedral ceiling, and artistic cabinets and trim. This property is among the finest vacation rentals close to Yellowstone National Park.
The spacious kitchen includes brand new appliances (range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave), coffeemaker, toaster, and blender. Overlooking the island, you can converse with others in the dining and living areas, or just watch tv or listen to music. You'll enjoy lots of storage in designer cabinets; and all rooms in the house are radiant-heated hardwood.
The living room is expansive, with floor-to-ceiling windows in a vaulted ceiling that frame views of the creek and mountains. Three massive pine pillars, milled from trees that were cut on the property, rise 30' to the ceiling. You'll love the crackling and scent of pine burning in the authentic stone fireplace. You can relax and barbecue outside on the wrap-around covered deck, just a short distance from the creek-side sauna and hot-tub. The radiant heated wood floors, comfortable designer furniture, large-screen tv with DVD player, and high fidelity sound system ensure a warm, welcoming gathering area.
The large master bedroom has an authentic rock fireplace, soaker tub, radiant heated hardwood floors, attached master bathroom, and walk-out french doors to the covered deck with beautiful views of the creek and woods.
There are three other spacious bedrooms in the house... one on the main floor and two upstairs. All offer great views, radiant-heated hardwood floors, plentiful closet and dresser space, and easy access to bathrooms. As in the Master Bedroom, the beds have compression foam, down comforters, and down pillows. There are three bathrooms in the house, two on the main level and one upstairs. All have shower/bath units.
The adjacent heated breeze-way houses a washer and dryer and plenty of space to hang wet fishing clothes or snowy winter jackets and pants.
Cooke City, at an elevation of 7400 feet and only minutes from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, offers two distinct seasons. Summer is filled with outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, ATVing, fishing, rafting, photography, and sightseeing, either in spectacular Yellowstone National Park or in the beautiful surrounding areas. Fall through spring presents world-class snowmobiling and backcountry/cross-country skiing in the most gorgeous of mountain settings.
The road to Cooke City from Gardiner, through Yellowstone National Park, is kept open year-round. To the east, Cooke City is accessible by Highway 212 from May through November, depending on snow levels. Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, Wyoming 296, climbs from the Cody area over majestic Chief Joseph Pass and then wanders through gorgeous Sunlight Basin before arriving at Cooke City. The Beartooth Highway, which twists and winds its way from Red Lodge, is open only through summer months, and is considered one of the most scenic drives in America.
MTNLUX Refuge has immediate access to the other two vacation rentals on the 1-acre property... MTNLUX Guest House (1146630) and MTNLUX Loft (1146668), that are also listed on Airbnb. Larger groups may rent multiple units. Guests in all three rental properties have joint access to the sauna, hot tub and laundry room. What a beautiful setting for a magnificent residence. Cannot explain in words the beauty the surrounds this home.

Our extended family of ten stayed in this gorgeous home and its idealistic setting for our family vacation to Yellowstone National Park. It was the perfect setting for entering the park without long lines. We thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife and scenic views in the Lamar Valley. We also enjoyed the majestic scenery along the Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. We had perfect access to everything we wanted to see. The owners/caretakers were extremely easy to communicate with and the house was beautiful!

The property is absolutely beautiful. It had everything that we needed in terms of cooking for the week. Big supply of wood to make fires in the house as well as outside or to use for the sauna. Lots of fun games, like a pool table and ping pong table. Communication was excellent. Very clean. Always love properties where we can get some laundry cleaned as well. 100% recommend.

We had the trip of a lifetime

Relaxing retreat with a view… this beautiful, clean and comfortable home had all of the amenities and accommodated our multigenerational family group extremely well. It was extra nice that there were toys, a pack and play and a high chair for our little grandson. We all enjoyed being in the middle of this beautiful natural area. We had hoped to see some wildlife along.
the soda butte creek and in the yard but only saw a couple of mule deer. The close proximity to Yellowstone allowed us to introduce the grandsons to the many wild animals that the park had to offer. Needless to say, the boys enjoyed every trip into the park. The kitchen was well equipped as well as the laundry room. Our family loves Yellowstone National Park and staying at such a nice home made us all not want to leave.
Luckily there were no issues. So we did not have to contact Michael or Michele. And the reservation and payment process was easy as well, even when we asked to extend our stay.
Thank you the Rosengrens for such a warm and inviting home. And thanks to VRBO, for making the search and payment process so easy.
Only a couple of constructive suggestions that might be helpful to the renters: knobs or pulls for the kitchen drawers and the bathroom and handrails up to the decking would be helpful for us older folks and having the sprinklers run at a different time would allow the kids to play outside in the morning. up,

A beautiful cabin in Cooke city! The views of the mountains from inside the cabin were so relaxing! Wonderful host to work with, and they make sure you have everything you need. The hot tub & sauna were so wonderful to have during the cold weather. Wildlife was amazing!! Buffalo, wolves, Elk, moose, coyotes, eagles! We look forward coming back next year!

Overall the cabin was amazing. I knew there were other cabins on the property but wasn’t aware our cabin was connected to another guest cabin—that may have been overlooked by me at the time of booking. It was not a problem however. I would suggest to others going earlier in October due to Cooke City’s businesses being seasonal

House was incredible and everything that we wanted it to be for our vacation. The only thing I would say is to add a separate washer and dryer for those staying in the main house. We had a group of 8 staying in the main house including 2 children and it was rather difficult to share with two other property rentals when we had days worth of dirty clothes. Otherwise, this house is perfect and we will be back.

The house was exactly as pictured. The house was clean and very spacious. Beautiful views and stream behind the house. We enjoyed our stay.

Everyone in our group (7 of us) loved the house. Plenty of space for all and lots to do. We spent our days in the park and nights relaxing on the porch, playing corn hole and enjoying the creek views. The ping pong and pool table were a huge hit as well. All info needed for arrival and contact information was provided before hand which made for easy check-in even though we got in late. The caretaker was around a few times during our week stay and always engaging with us. We had no issues but he was knowledgeable and available if needed. What we loved most about our week was the proximity to Lamar Valley, our favorite part of the park. The house was a special place to return to each day and call home for the week. We hope to return again next year!

This property is absolutely amazing. The cabin is stunning. We were pleasantly surprised how kid-friendly it was. The location is picturesque. We stayed with my parents, my sister's family, and my family (6 adults and 4 kids total). We were all very comfortable, and we all want to stay here again!

The home and surroundings are exquisite. All three generations of our family enjoyed everything about our stay. The landscape, especially at night, is surreal.
Be mindful that groceries should be brought with you, as there aren’t stores readily available. The kitchen had everything we needed!
My family would love to come back! Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

Your house is simply beautiful. Scenery amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up early, having coffee on the deck, watching the sunrise and spotting wildlife, deer, fox etc. We would certainly return. Very clean.

An unforgettable Yellowstone family vacation began on the northeastern entrance and ended in west Yellowstone. Mtn lux was an incredible home base for our family. Remarkable wildlife included black bears, grizzly, bison, moose, elk, marmot, coyotes, antelope, mule deer, white tailed deer, fox, osprey, ground squirrels, wolves, and chipmunks. When asked, our grandson son said his favorite part was everything because of the wildlife he saw everyday. My heart and soul are full.
Hosts were amazing and responded in minutes! This was impressive. When the power went out the backup generated prices us light and I wifi even when the town was out.
Sharing the common areas was also fine. I was a little nervous but the home layout is well throughout and efficiently spaced.
We’d love to return someday.
Grateful for the memories ❤️ and sharing your beautiful home.

Our stay in the home was wonderful. We had everything that we could have needed for our stay. The beds were comfortable and the shower was a joy after long days at the Park. The owners were very helpful with any concerns we had during our stay. Two things I would mention would be that cell service is a challenge and if you have breathing issues, the smell of burnt wood in the house is strong. These two things by no way take away from this home.

We had an exciting stay at the beautiful cabin. The home is comfortable and well-appointed with furniture and appliances, and the location is just the best! We saw a fox and several moose right on the property- even a big bull with giant antlers. Coffee on the porch was peaceful and sunny every morning, and then sunsets over the mountains ended the days. The kids played pool and ping-pong while the adults enjoyed family talks at the large tables. Worry about n nothing because every message to the owners was met quickly with a response and they were accommodating to our every need. To put it short and sweet we all had a great time.

The house has to be the best place in town we’ve rented. Amenities are great and owners respond quickly with any needs!

The Rosengren properties are gorgeous, and one of the few places in Cooke City that can handle a group of our size. The amenities are great, and the spacious house provides a great place to relax after a long day in the hills. The hot tub and sauna are a great touch as well. Looking forward to my next visit.

Just remember, when you rent this place don’t assume you get the whole place there’s multiple Rentals connected to this house which is a little confusing!! After saying all this, I would still rent this place. Just thought I would give you the heads up if that kind of stuff bothers you!!

This home is stunning and the views even more so! Easy check in and out. Michael and Michelle were so kind and easy to work with, promptly answered any questions we had and were helpful with suggestions on sites and activities since NE entrance was still closed during our visit. They thought of everything you could possibly need during our stay. The beds were all so comfortable and cozy! We met their care taker, Allen and Angie, who were just as kind and helpful. We can’t wait to come back!

Highly recommend
The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. Also very close to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone and Lamar valley! Would definitely stay here again, it is also very close to two beautiful highways-the beginning of the bear tooth highway and just a very short drive to Chief Joseph highway.

Beautiful Location, Not the Easiest in Winter/Snow
This area is really charming and the home is clean, spacious and beautiful.
Unfortunately, because of an unexpected snow storm, Beartooth Highway in Yellowstone was closed, making our location (20 minutes from the North Eastern entrance) less convenient.
During our stay, the town lost power for two days. We did not have water on our last day either. With the water & power out, the dishwasher, garbage disposal and washer and dryer were unavailable. This made it hard for us to clean as we also ran out of trash bags.
For part of the time the Wi-Fi was also out, leaving us without cell service. The owners were usually responsive but we couldn't even reach them for a chunk of our stay.
I was surprised to realize this house shares a wall with another unit they rent out. I also did not realize the hot tub, sauna, and washer/dryer were shared with two other rental units, and it seemed as though the other renters also were not aware of this. I think the listing can be clearer about shared amenities.
Even with the power outage, which is out of everyone's control, I would recommend this home. The views from the living room and master bedroom are really beautiful, and the group enjoyed the pool table and jacuzzi when it was available.
If you're staying here, I'd advise you stop at a grocery store in Gardiner or Bozeman. The convenience stores are very small with extremely limited selection. It's all part of the experience though!

Heaven on Earth
The perfect HQ for a bucket-list trip for my Dad. Pictures don't do it justice. The owner's were incredibly responsive, kind, and helped to cultivate an excellent experience. We spent our days exploring Yellowstone's northern loop, and our mornings and evenings in the comfort of this well appointed home. Thank you. We're already planning a trip back.

BEAUTIFUL REMOTE LOCATION
I would highly recommend this property for those that want to disconnect and have a direct path to Yellowstone and some of the most scenic highways in America. We had plenty of wildlife visit during our stay from bear, fox, pine marten and more. Just a gorgeous layout. No phone service for android even with wifi......that was a good thing for me but glad one of us had an Iphone. Would definitely recommend.

Family Vacation
It's my own fault for not reading all the way to the bottom of the description prior to booking this rental without enough time to cancel w/refund. It is not secluded as you share the property with other people as they have two other rentals...a loft which is upstairs and inside the main house, as well as another building that is adjacent from the back porch. For the money we paid, we wanted complete privacy. My kids were uncomfortable sleeping upstairs knowing there were people we didn't know on the other side of a door in the pool table room, so they shared a room downstairs for the entire stay. The host was very responsive to some questions that arose while we were there. One of the days my kids were playing in the snow out back and a man showed up on a snowmobile and started working on the roof with a sledgehammer for about 30 minutes. Didn't ring the bell and alert of us his presence. He was working right above the kitchen, needless to say we had the kids end their snow play so no ice pieces would fall on them, as the area they were playing in was right near him working. A heads up from the host would have been awesome. He also re-stocked the firewood out back while he was there on the property, something to maybe do between guests rather then during the stay of guests. We did enjoy visiting with Monty each night for dinner at the Miners Saloon (great food). We also really enjoyed our private tour of Yellowstone with Yellowstone Dreamin' Adventure! The house is beautiful, the kitchen is a dream, as long as you are cool with sharing the property with other people then this will work for you, that just isn't our jam.
