Family owned and managed, the aptly named Starlit Escape is known for its seclusion, peacefulness and natural beauty. No detail has been left out and the owners are always accessible for any need. About St John, The US Virgin Island's Best: The still-pristine island of St. John is the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands and lies just 3 miles east of St. Thomas and a mile from the nearest of the British Virgin Islands. Nearly two-thirds of the island is national park, with forests and nature trails for your enjoyment. Nature lovers will be amazed by St. John's ecological diversity, from cactus-laden desert bluffs to lush tropical forests singing with tree frogs and painted by orchids.
The true treasure of St. John is its beaches, white with soft, sugary sand and edged by coconut palms, gentle waters, and pristine coral reefs. World-famous Trunk Bay is here, as are spectacular Hawksnest Bay and Cinnamon Bay. Part of the national park land is underwater and home to amazing coral reefs, plant life, tropical fish and turtles.
Beyond the spectacular natural beauty, St. John is a colorful and artistic community filled with unique shops, boutiques and vendors. The shelves are filled with local artwork and distinctive jewelry as well as exotic imports. All of the restaurants are locally owned, each serving up tantalizing flavors and atmosphere for even the most discerning palate. Local seafood such as mahi mahi, Caribbean lobster, conch, wahoo, yellowtail snapper and tuna are always fresh and available.
Getting out on the water is a must for every Virgin Island vacation. Sailing, fishing, scuba diving and powerboat charters are widely available, as well as sea kayak and dinghy rentals. Our favorite is sailing. The fresh tradewinds, calm seas and protected anchorages make the Virgin Islands one of the top sailing destinations in the world. Hundreds of nearby islands await your exploration, all just a short boat ride away. Some of the best snorkeling and diving spots are only accessible by boat.
Many visitors will be captivated by the fascinating history of St. John and the Caribbean. From the Taino, Arawak and Carib Indians, to the days of piracy, to the Danish sugar plantations, St. John has amazing stories of slavery and freedom, rebellion and discovery. Many remnants of those days have been preserved here. Upon your exploration you will find Danish sugar mill ruins, archaeological digs, and petroglyphs from the ancient tribes that first inhabited St. John.
There is so much to do and see on this tiny 27-square-mile mountainous island that many visitors find themselves coming back year after year.

Lovely and remote spot
This spot was delightful and perfect for a couple. While there was an AC in the bedroom we never needed to use it. There were a couple of spots to eat close by so we never needed to cook. There was also some lovely hiking and beaches not too far away. The road to the home is very rocky and am SUV or other high riding car is essential. The owners of the home lives above us, which was not obvious from the description, but we hardly saw each other! All in all a wonderful place

Paradise!
We had an amazing time staying at Starlit Escape in Coral Bay. It is a beautiful home set in the jungle after an adventurous drive. The place was clean, had everything we needed, and perfect for our family of 4 (kids 10, 12). The kids each had their own air mattress which they said were "the best beds ever" and the queen was very comfortable in the bedroom. The porch, deck, pool and hammock were used a lot in the afternoons and evenings, and lizard catching was a favorite for my son. We loved staying in Coral Bay and can't wait to come back!

Wonderful for small families
Starit Escape was a great home-base for our family of 3 during our stay on St. John. The property is meticulously maintained, very clean and well-equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay. You will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access the property, and cell phone service is almost non-existent on the Coral Bay side of the island, so it will be important to plan on where and when to meet for checking in prior to heading to the Coral Bay area. We truly enjoyed the quiet neighborhood setting, and all of the amenities Starlit Escape offered.

A magical property and experience of St. John's beauties
The owners of the property have put so much heart and love into the land. It is a unique place on St. John in that is has a flat and beautifully landscaped piece of earth. We enjoyed picking fresh fruit every day and watching the tropical flowers open and greet the day. We know St. John very well and enjoyed the peaceful offerings that Coral Bay had to share. This is an older house but had all the comforts we needed. When things popped up that we wanted addressed the owners were quickly responsive.
I would highly recommend this for the traveler looking for a quiet getaway to share in St. John's beauties. And in all honesty, although Coral Bay is more tucked away, it truly is not an inconvenience while on vacation to do a slight bit more driving to get back into town where you would find more amenities. (And we enjoyed getting away from the business that Cruz Bay brings). It is probably the same driving distance to North Shore beaches as from Cruz Bay. The views from the roads are beautiful and we found the beaches on this side of the island to be more accessible now than they historically had been.

1st time back since 2016, and that was way too long!
This house met all of our needs, coming home and cooling off in the pool was nice in the evenings. Was awesome to see all the different plants and trees in the yard. Would def recommend this house anyone looking for a nice, clean private house close to town and all the beautiful beaches of St. John!

A Home Away From Home
Starlit Escape is perfect in every way! The owners reached out to us in advance to provide helpful travel information and suggestions for car rentals. This was our first time staying on the Coral Bay side and we're so glad we did. Starlit Escape allows you access to some of the more secluded beaches and great restaurants.
The house was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. It included every amenity needed for your stay. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck each morning. Each day, we would walk the paths to see the different flowers in bloom. The property offers such a private and natural feel.
Thank you for creating such an enjoyable stay for our family.

Memorable trip to St. John
My wife, three kids and I really enjoyed our stay Starlit Escape! The check-in process was great. The owners/managers reached out in advance by email and gave us instructions and then on the day of check-in, we text back and forth and they made sure that we knew where to go and what to do, which was great since the road signage is not the greatest. We rented a jeep, and it was more than enough for the road to get in and out of the property. We timed how long we were on the dirt road to their property and it was 3-4 minutes. It did not significantly increase our time to go anywhere on the island. We had heard and read that the Coral Bay side is quieter and that was exactly what we were looking for and happy that we stayed on the Coral Bay side. The master bedroom has the air conditioning which was really nice. Our kids stayed on the blow-up mattresses provided by Starlit Escape in the main living area and they slept great with the fans on and the windows open with the breeze coming through. Our kids loved their afternoon dips on the pool after a day of being salty in the ocean. Also, there is a small grocery store about 4-5 minutes from the property that we used a couple times and were surprised by the options available there. Its called the "Love City Market." Overall we had a great stay here and through the property managers were great! Thanks!

Great stay
I enjoyed my stay at the Starlit Escape. Its a first floor unit that had a lot of space in the living room, dining, and bedroom. There was a nice deck in the back yard with chairs and a picnic table (and hammock and pool!) for relaxing in the afternoon.
Definitely need a Jeep or something similar to get to the property so book a vehicle early.

The Perfect Escape
My husband and I stayed at Starlit Escape this February for our honeymoon. We stayed for a week and were welcomed upon arrival by Jared and his family. They showed us around the property and answered any questions we had. We found the property to be beautiful inside and outside, clean and well maintained. It was nice to have the spacious deck outside with the nearby pool for the few afternoons we returned from the beaches a little early. We found the property to be thoughtfully decorated and stocked with all the essentials so you feel at home. Its just a few minutes from the grocery store and restaurants in Coral Bay making it convenient for running to the store to grab a few essentials or eating out in Coral Bay. We enjoyed seeing Avalene's pet tortoises outside and we fed them a few times! There are lots of friendly wild donkeys nearby which we enjoyed stopping to watch on the road to the house as well. Overall we had a wonderful visit to St. John and are thankful for our wonderful hosts for welcoming us into their home and sharing their island with us. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did!

Great place to stay!
Starlit escape was everything we needed for our vacation. The house was spacious and clean. Jared and Angie were great hosts and provided plenty of space while still being available to answer questions or give island advice. We would definitely recommend.

Peaceful, pleasant, beautiful
I traveled with my teenage son to visit STJ for snorkeling and hiking. Thank you Jared for sharing your space with us. It is obvious how hard you work on keeping your home well maintained. The pool is a great way to end a day of adventure. I appreciate that you were able to meet us somewhat late in the day when our flight was delayed. We were able to prepare meals at home easily, and we slept very well in your comfortable beds. I would love to visit again another day, but we leave with fond memories. Thanks. John and Max May

A gem with a wonderful view over the green hills of Coral Bay
Very nice and comfortable house with private pool. Perfect for a small family. Placed in the quiet and beautiful Coral Bay.

Quiet, beautiful and private.
Situated in a rural area, Starlit Escape is aptly named. With very little lights to interfere and a private pool- swimming under the beautiful night sky was a real treat.
The house is located in rural Coral Bay, with grocery stores and restaurants/bars within a 5-10 minute drive. You’ll see donkeys, goats, and iguanas every day. The house is very private, with great foliage and trees surrounding the grounds. There’s an awesome play house if you bring your kids :) The bed is comfortable and the rooms are very spacious and open. The bathroom has a nice, large shower and water pressure is great. The kitchen was well appointed, and I cooked almost every day. The back deck has plenty of outdoor seating and a grille, as well as a hammock for relaxing in the evening.
Jared was a great host and gave me tons of privacy.
I spent my days hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming- and starlit escape provided the perfect place to relax, rest and recoup. Definitely recommended!

Great escape
This is the ideal place to get away from it all. We stayed five days and loved it. Very large, airy, and comfortable. Huge shaded porch with two hammocks, lovely pool, beautiful natural setting. Jared, Angie and Avalene (and her tortoise Lilac) were perfect hosts. Highest recommendation.

Starlight Escape Recovered Well
My husband and I went to St. John to enjoy the beaches and warm weather and also to see how the recovery is coming from the hurricanes. I won't lie, the damage done is devastating, especially the further east you go on the island. I will say that the people are working very hard to clean it up. Every day there were people out cutting weeds and removing debris from the roads and linemen working on power lines. I could even see changes by the end of the week in the area where we stayed at Coral Bay.
The villa itself was great and all that the two of us needed. Jared was very helpful in giving us tips on where to eat, shop, and rent a jeep. Believe me you do need a Jeep! That would be the only thing holding me back from a 5 star -- the last part of the trek is rough but it's just part of the island.
Also during the time we were there there was no cable or internet so that really forced us to unplug from the outside world which is not all bad!
Glad we went and hopefully can go back again to see what I am sure will be even more progress on this island.

Great spot for the Coral Bay Area!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Starlit Escape. The name is perfect. It's detached but close enough to access all the great spots on St. John.

Great property for a romantic getaway.
We had a great time at this property. Everything was clean, well kept, and well maintained. The house had everything we needed for our stay. It was conveniently located in Coral Bay which allowed for easy exploration of the island. The location of the house, also gave it a more secluded and quiet escape from the busy Cruz Bay location. Jared and Angie were truly hospitable. We mentioned we loved the idea of picking a mango right off the tree and eating it, and a few minutes later Jared and his lovely daughter came over with a mango offering from their own mango tree! There was another mango waiting for us the next day by the door when we came back from a long day at the beach! We look forward to our next stay.

Perfect get away spot for the two of us. Highly recommend it and plan to return.
Great spot for quiet retreat in private setting. Surrounded by thick hillside jungle full of great animal and bird sounds (protected by perimeter fencing), this home is beautifuly appointed and well equipped. It is only minutes down a fairly rough gravel roadway to the Coral Bay village. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful (they live on the floor above) but gave us plenty of privacy.

Awesome stay in Coral Bay
We had such a lovely time on the Coral Bay side of the island and Starlit Escape was the perfect little home for the week. We really enjoyed the laid back feel and it had all the amenities we needed. We're dreading going back to the hustle and bustle of home. Thanks for an awesome villa Jared and Angie!
