This was a nice house located near enough to the town to walk. It was a typical beach house with a well stocked kitchen. It had a great view from the front porch of the ocean and was in a beautiful neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

After staying at “Valhalla by the Sea” for three nights, our recommendation to prospective visitors can only be to look elsewhere, particularly for how expensive this place is. At this price point, you can stay at a nice hotel or a much nicer VRBO. Of course, what’s “worth it” is a matter of personal preference. You might find “Valhalla” perfectly delightful if you enjoy beds that make you feel like you’re sleeping on a felled tree, or finding on the side of the kitchen sink a hefty trail of grime that if given only an extra week would begin talking to you. What made this a poor VRBO experience was feeling like we had gotten royally swindled by what we received for the cost, which in retrospect was outrageous. Also, the host never replied to our messages we sent while at the property. We will not return to "Valhalla".

The quaint beach house was the ideal location for enjoying the island for a few days and make some family memories! My favorite spot was sitting in the chair in the dining room, because the breeze was so nice, and I had a view of the ocean and lighthouse. It was nice to have two bathrooms for the group we had with us. The property had bikes for us to use, beach towels, and kitchen necessities. It was nice to have the living room and the smaller library area so we could both hang out as a big group, and have another place besides bedrooms to split off. The beds were not very comfortable, which was the only complaint we had while staying. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and the property manager was very quick to respond the whole time we were there, and leading up to our trip as well.
P.S. For any families with babies/toddlers, bring a sound machine! The floors are very creaky, since it's an older house, but putting the air conditioner in the room my toddler napped in really helped him fall asleep, since it was pretty loud and drowned a lot of the noise out!

Spacious home with all the necessities - had a great 10 day stay and enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the ocean!

We came to Peaks Island to celebrate a birthday and enjoy the serenity of the island and explore the city. We got the best of both worlds. Patty from Peaks Island taxi was splendid and informative and ensured we got to and fro when needed. The house had all comforts needed, the wood stove kept us cozy, and an over all great time. Thank you!

Lovely spot to host a group of friends who hadn’t seen each other in years. 7 adults is a bit of a tight squeeze but doable! Location couldn’t be beat.

This ocean view vacation home is an older building which has been lovingly outfitted for guests. If you are looking for slick and glitzy look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a classic, quaint seaside getaway just a few minutes walk to the open ocean, with many nice decorative touches and modern kitchen appliances, you will be very happy here.

We came to Maine to see the fall foliage. Never having been we tried something new and started on Peak’s Island. Love the island. House is a nice cottage with all the right amenities for a stay. Sea glass was everywhere. The Islander’s whom live there full time are not the nicest people, but it doesn’t ruin your trip. A nice drive to Merrifield Farm for some Maple Syrup and Rangeley Lake for Fall foliage is perfect to add to the trip.

The rental was good, the house can handle six, but can only park one vehicle. Very nice overall. Be patient with the ferry schedule, and get in line early.

Nicely appointed beach cottage. Bring small car as only parking for small car and a golf cart. Nice water views 5 mins to shore 10 minutes to the tiny village and ferry.

6 thirty-something guys on a dude trip absolutely loved this spot. Peaks Island is a magical place and this house was the perfect home for a long weekend. Easy checkin, lots of provided amenities, and the promise of wanting to come back. Don’t mind if we do!

3rd year at Valhalla
We love the location 0f Valhalla but are disheartened that the property is not being taken care of as it should be. We love the neighbors and our grandchildren are sad to think we may not go back, but the price is going up for next summer and we feel that if it was truly clean and well taken care of, we wouldn't mind paying the extra money, but for now, we will start looking elsewhere. I am so sorry that other renters do not respect properties they rent. I can see that the house/furnishings have been abused by the renters. Very sad to report this, but true. We have definitely created wonderful memories on Peak's Island, and will return, but not sure where we will stay.

Fabulous Fun Vacation!!
My daughter, niece and I stayed here and it was everything we wanted and needed. Right near the ocean with great views in a gorgeous 100 year old home. We definitely will be back.

Great family get away
Enjoyed the ocean views and waves from the porch. The location was ideal for sunrise walks and a short walk to the ferry for day trips to Portland for our big kids. Hoping to start a new tradition.

Nasty. ! Nasty!! Soooo gross.
It was so gross I ended up renting rooms at the inn! This place is disgusting! Plus, not a single closet or anything where to hand clothing. Most disgusting place I’ve ever rented!!!

2nd year at this location
We truly love the location of this house. The only downfall is the lack of outdoor space, and what space there is, is not kept up (lawn not mowed and bushes not trimmed). This doesn't hamper our stay, but does stand out in the neighborhood. We are excited to stay again in 2022!

Family wedding stat
Our family stayed at Valhalla for a family wedding. All of us felt the house was perfect. Lots of sleep space, clean, great views. Like most homes on Peaks, the parking is limited but there is one dedicated space in front of the house which we greatly appreciated. The best room in the house is the dining area with lots of windows presenting phenomenal views. The covered front porch was also a favorite gathering place. The location is private and away from lots of foot traffic but very close to the shore. A perfect distance for walking into town or to the rocky beaches. Loved our stay!

Perfect vacation oasis
Great little house. Not fussy and very comfortable. I would stay here again.
Property manager was very helpful when toiletry bag was left behind. He put it in the mail right away and I received in a couple of days. I have recommended this place to a few of my friends.

Great location, peaceful with beautiful views
Overall really great stay. Traveled with family, there were 6 adults and 2 children and we all slept comfortably. Parking is tight, but there is additional parking by the ferry if traveling with a group and need more than one car. I do recommend renting a golf cart to get around. Everything is very close by but if you do not want to walk or ride a bike, the golf carts make it much easier than driving. The views from the house are beautiful. Great place to get away, relax, and enjoy simple island life!

Just what we were looking for!
The house was perfect for our family of six, ages 10 years to adult. We were looking for a cozy beach cottage with easy access to the coast and this house for the bill perfectly. It was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. There were a few minor items in the house that needed repair or updates, but that did not bother our family at all. The weather was cool during our stay, but we bundled up and walked or rode bikes all over the island. We hope to visit again soon!

Just the recharge we needed!
Perfect place to recharge and energize. The house was perfectly described and the small touches were thoughtful! The island was wonderful and being able to walk everywhere was lovely! We definitely want to make this a yearly getaway!

Adorable and peaceful
The island is quaint and very removed from the hustle of downtown which is a nice thing to retire to. The house itself is set close enough to the waves to listen to them at night as you sleep and it had everything to make ones stay comfortable.
The island has much to see if you love nature and everyone seems welcoming and friendly.
Nice romantic getaway!

Great for a quiet winter getaway
We had a great February break getaway here - nice sledding hills nearby, beautiful fireplace, and well-appointed kitchen. I'm sure Peaks Island is lovely in the summer as well, but I would recommend a cozy change of scenery here too! We are already enjoying our memories of roaming in the snow and on the cold beaches with our kids and dog.

Awful
This property was a nightmare. Never was informed that the property was on an island only accessible by ferry that has limited schedule during winter season. Plus it cost everytime you catch the ferry to return home from work in Portland. Secondly I checked out early snd requested a refund. The property manager told me he was waiting on the owner. 2 weeks went by. Then the owner is claiming damages. I don't smoke. I burn Palo Santo, and sage for energy purpose. But have never been accused of smoke nasty cigarettes. This owner is a racist and a liar and only accusing me of false damages because he didn't want to return my money after I only stayed for 5days and paid the entire stay upfront.

Cute cottage
We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. The owner was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The furniture was very comfortable and the decorating was very Maine-like. Great place for a getaway!

My husband, 1 year, dogs and I all enjoyed our stay on Peaks at this beautiful home. It is a convenient location- not too far from town and coastline. Beautiful kitchen views.

Restful retreat
The house is beautiful and has a beachy feel throughout. It is close enough to the ocean to get that sea breeze, and it has the windows for it! There’s a quick 5 minute walk to the beach and you can see the ocean from the porch! The neighbors are super kind and friendly which made the stay more enjoyable. The town is in walking distance if you don’t mind a hill or two. The island is super dog friendly along with the house thanks to the owners!

We had a much needed respite on Peaks Island. The best part was the ocean breeze
We had a very positive experience. Relaxing and worry free. We appreciated the bikes in site to tour the island. Outstanding location- lovely neighbors, magical setting. We slept with sound of the waves. Great beach days and family time.

We had a very nice stay! Armin was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process. Kitchen and living room were great. The only problem was not enough electrical outlets. Thank you very much for a great place to stay!

Just what we needed.
House was just like in pictures, tons of character! It was in a pretty good spot in relation to the ferry. Little to far to walk but not horrible. Ocean view was pretty good. . We had an awesome weekend. I loved the breakfast bump out..
We did have a few disappointing things. The recliner is missing bolts so one side of the back falls off. I tried to repair but like I said the bolts are gone. This clearly has been like this because it’s pushed up against the wall to keep it up. Lots of the blinds in the house are broken. That was a let down because we wanted the windows open for the breeze and view. When they are all up some have broken parts sticking out others you need to tuck on top and 2 of them do not go up. We wanted to use the fire place on Saturday night so we could sit around but only two pieces of wood so didn’t get to use it.
Great things: 4 bikes in the basment. This was a total surprise. Some how we missed this in the info and the bike shop is closed due to covid so we were super excited.
Very comfortable beds!! Great claw tub upstairs! Beautiful flower bushes out front! Breakfast table room is the best!
Biggest let downs ; parking, tiny yard back yard grill and chairs.. I had a truck and no way can that fit in the one parking spot available. The only spot provided is for a compact car. We had a family birthday party And one other car came. it forced us both to park in road so the little parking spot could be used for lawn chairs. We used the BBQ that was full of old meat I had to clean it before using, a lot. We also had to use the hose to wash all chairs and back porch down. There was moss and tree stuff all over it maybe we were first debtor if season? Back yard is maybe 6’x6’? Very tiny. There is a sharp pipe in back yard Only a 1/2” above ground so we ended not using the back at all because we had a two year old that can over for the birthday.
All and all, we are easy going people and had a great time I felt the price was correct for the Product. Look at the pictures, if you like what you see you will be happy.
My suggestions to make it perfect offer a family size golf cart and tell guest to park in the public parking lot for ferry.

Perfect vacation house!
We had a great long weekend on Peaks Island! The house was exactly how we had imagined it and it was perfect for us. We were so happy that there were bikes available in the basement and we used them several times. There were lots of toiletries and other extras that were available, although we didn't need any of them. The view of the water and the lighthouse was beautiful, and it was a super short walk down to the water. I would definitely book this house again!

Awesome and relaxing getaway
The house had everything we needed for our party of 8 who liked to cook and bake. The location was ideal with the views of ocean and lighthouse such that there was always someone on the front porch. Armin and John addressed our every question/request in short order. Definitely recommend!!

Peaks Island Gem!
Loved the place! House was so pretty and the decor and amenities were outstanding right down to the baskets of toiletries. We liked to play the game of count the lobsters in different rooms. Didn’t get to use the bikes but they were better than expected. Place has an excellent location within walking distance to everything you want on Peaks Island. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future!
