The cottage is filthy and messy! One patio door was left unlocked another door had a deadbolt and handle lock that did not work. The closest in the main bedroom and a small sunroom were cluttered with owners belongings, definitely hoarders! The kitchen cabinets and drawers were dirty and filled with open food items and dried up vegetables (I think) and chewed dog bones. The stove and fan above it were greasy and there were dead flies and bugs stuck to it. The linens and towels were old, stained and mismatched. I won’t even get into the outdoor space which has broken spindles on the porch and chipping paint. We called the property manager who did send someone to fix the door the following morning and VRBO whom I’m waiting to hear from but we were not offered other accommodation and I have yet to hear from the property manager. Beware she also manages other properties in the area and can only assume they are also in similar states. The photos of the cottage are very old photos, we expected an older rustic but clean and comfortable cottage, needles to say that is not what we got.

Location of the property was perfect for our getaway. Lots of open space for gathering and eating. While advised our host (as requested) when we were an hour from arrival there seemed to be some confusion as to the property we had booked. There is much potential with this property, however it is in need of some TLC. The outdoor pictures posted are not current. The overgrowth of shrubs over the firepit made it unsafe to use. Beautiful hydrangeas! The locks on the patio doors are not in good working condition and the railing on the front steps needs repairing. We loved sitting on the beautiful front porch enjoying our coffee. We had some concerns about cleanliness. There are repairs needed to the upstairs bathroom tub area which would permit proper cleaning. The built-in cupboards in the living and dining room are beautiful, as is the coffee table. Clothing and other ‘stuff’ left in the dressers and closets were perplexing and made them unusable by guests. Coffee bar and wine fridge were nice additions. Both top and bottom racks of the dishwasher need to be repaired as well as the refrigerator drawers. Some of the chairs were in disrepair but we had enough others to use. We enjoyed ourselves immensely but would not like to see this property decline any further.

Stayed for 3 nights. Cottage is in a beautiful setting. Generally a nice place. Cathy was easy to get in contact with regarding snow removal after a heavy fall one of the days. But our experience was well below par. It was clear bed sheets weren’t washed in one of the rooms (visible stains & dirty socks still between the sheets), so hard to tell if the others were or were not. Floors were filthy. Kitchen oven still had chicken wings and microwave still had an old pizza. I could go on but those are the highlights. We’ve been to much cheaper places, off grid cabins etc that were less of a hassle, I.e. having to clean everything on arrival. You would imaging cleaning fees of 125bucks should mean a clean stay

1. The cottage is sparkling clean. I was concerned about the covid19 and ask Cathy to pay more attention on the cleaning and disinfecting, the cottage is perfectly cleaned as I want.
2. Cathy is a fast responder, and flexible of check in and check out time, we appreciated she allows us early check-in and late check-out.
3.the cottage is walking distance from huckleberry outlook, we enjoy the walk every morning
4. The cottage is prefect for kids, they have huge box of toys and puzzles, kids can play by themselves which is very nice for me.
Overall, the stay is comfort and relax. We will come back again 🙂

Beautiful house with everything we needed for our stay. Small public beach minutes from the house. We drove to the nearby towns for shopping and restaurants.
The owner was very responsive to our questions. We will definitely book again.

What a shame about this house. It could be a spectacular property but it's been allowed to deteriorate to a pretty sad level. We couldn't sit outside at night because the lights didn't work. The cushions on the covered seating area where we did spend a lot of time were really dirty. The stovetop doesn't work properly having never been cleaned. The oven worked well. The igniter on the Weber gas bbq didn't work. The interior was disgusting. We had to light it for more than half an hour to make it useable. I could go on especially about the upstairs but suffice it to say a LOT of work is needed to make it worth the huge price to rent it.

One of the best cottage experience my family has yet. The beach was minutes walking distance, easy walk with little ones. There was a dock where you can also catch fish.
The cottage itself was spacious and clean. The backyard was amazingly convenient for my family to have BBQ and roasting marshmallows in the campfire.
The nature experience of the environment was beautiful, especially the nearby lookout hike.
Overall, my family and I had fun, the host was extremely communicative and can't wait to come back!!!

As far as we are concerned the property is totally misrepresented on the VRBO site.We unpacked the car and within one hour repacked and left.Pictures are old,the lovely white fascia on the porch is now moss covered and mildewed. Their driveway would be enough to tear the bottom off any normal car, huge potholes, both entrances to the cottage required walking over 4’ of ice ,snow that would freeze overnight making it very dangerous. The fridge needed to be wiped out before we could use it,there was food left in the freezer and there was a half eaten pound of butter in the kitchen cupboard. One kitchen cupboard was jammed with half used non perishables from previous renters to the point that we could not get our food in the cupboard. The oven was a total grease trap and unusable, the owner/property manager suggested we use the self clean feature and clean the oven ourselves, it would likely have caused a fire and the smoke alarms would have gone off all day.Pots ,pans all thrown in one cupboard on top of each other,no shelves, terribly unhygienic.TV remote was missing ,owner indicated it was likely taken by previous renters ,she suggested we use the PlayStation to watch Netflix, hard to do if you can’t turn on the TV and being over age 70 Playstaion is not something I would know how to use, so the whole tv,internet system was useless. In the master bedroom the drawers were all full of clothes and the closet locked so no where to put ours.
Property manager/ owner was far from helpful, quick with excuses and suggestions about what WE could do to fix the problems with HER property
Home away and VRBO were also less than helpful in trying to get some sort of refund, once again we were made to feel it was our problem and had we worked with the owner/manager(who is the one who suggested we fix the problems and that we did not understand the VRBO concept) we would have had a wonderful time.
Sorry but our past rentals with VRBO ,In fact with every cottage rental company ,have been great, this place was a dump,it should be deleted from the VRBO site
