About this apartment rental
Due to the high demand on la maison des sirenes 1, I decided to offer another apartment. This is La Maison des Sirenes 2 ,same house but on the top floor (4th floor) of my brownstone.
It is located in one of the most coveted block(tree lined)of Bedstuy. It features a master bedroom (luxury Vera Wang queen size mattress) , a guest room with a twin size daybed coming from another world, an antique bathroom, a complete Tuscan kitchen, dining room and living room. The apartment is very bright, light is coming from every sides and ceilings (skylight).
The apartment was decorated with taste and I meticulously picked every single piece of furniture myself. Some of the furniture’s come from abroad and have many stories to say on their own. Some other has been collected for years and stored in my apartment waiting for the perfect place to be. Keep in mind this is not a newly renovated apartment .it has a flea market mood. The wood floor is imperfect and scratched. All the signs of a well lived house.
NYC OCCUPANCY TAXES ARE NOT INCLUDED AND ARE DUE UPON ARRIVAL IN CASH. They are required by NYC on less than 180 days rentals. They are 5.875% +$2/night.
feel free to look at my other listing on homeaway .the property number is 171767
Bedstuy used to be known for its motto 'do or die' . Not anymore!!!! Now it is best known for its incredibly beautiful Brownstone. It was fearures recentlt in the Time Out magazine as ' one of the best neighbourhood ' of NYC.The strong community and abundant beautiful brownstone townhouses contribute to its growth and charm. New cafes, restaurants, bakeries ,boutique ,galleries nd wine bars are sprouting everywhere receiving much attention by Zagat, time out,NY magazines and blogs. A diverse mix of students, hipsters, artists, crative professionals, architects and attorneys of all races continue to move to the neighbourhood.
The area is serviced well by the A abd C train with commute times 15 mn to lowervManhattan and 30 mn to midtown.(times square).
Bedstuy was home to famous artists such as Notorious BIG,Lil Kim,Mos Def,Chris rock,,poet June Jordan and activist Hattie Carthan. Bedstuy streets are often represented in media : Spike lee movies, MIA music video.....
There is a strong sense of pride being part of Bedstuy and being its pioneers.

Thank you for an excellent place to stay! My kids and I had a great time visiting NYC! The apartment was clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious and nicely furnished. It was a nice neighborhood with several great restaurants we discovered. Less than a ten minute walk to the subway, so it was easy to get to Manhattan. Instructions were clear and communication with the owner was great! I’ll definitely stay here again next time. Thanks!!!

Cozy apartment on a beautiful street, close to shops, restaurants, bars, and public transportation. No issues with the space, would have loved to have stayed longer.

A very charming appartment in a quiet street in a very beautiful quarter (Bedford Stuyvesant) with nice cafés, bars and restaurants and not many other tourists. The subway is close (10 minutes) and we would recommend it warmly!

Property was clean and convenient. I liked the diverse area of the neighborhood with local restaurants and stores nearby. I stayed two nights with my husband, son, and a few of his friends. We were there for a quick tour of the city, hitting all of our favorite spots and this place was great for sleeping. I loved all the natural light that entered in the morning.

We are a family of five and spent two days in Brooklyn in this lovely apartment, and then three in Manhattan. We really enjoyed the stay. The place is cozy, clean, cheerful and quiet. The beds are really confortable too. A perfect place to relax after a busy day visiting New York.

Had a great time in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Apartment is absolutely okay, but you have to climb some stairs. Neighborhood seems to be safe, some good restaurants and cafés around the corner. Good connection with subway to Manhattan. Natalie is a good host though we did not meet in person.
So, if you look for a good housing near to Manhattan - this is a fine option.

We had a great time. The area was wonderful. I communicated with Nathalie through text when I had questions and she got back to me quickly. I need to stay there again because there is SO MUCH MORE to see than you could possibly do in a weekend. THANKS NATHALIE!

We did arrive and the cleaning lady was finishing her job but nothing at all was how we expected this place to be. Extremely isolated and not in the best area of Brooklyn.
I immediately had an asthma attack and this usually takes place when I enter a room that has not been thoroughly cleaned for a long time.
The bathroom was hideous and the terrace had fast food trash.
I immediately called an Uber and left for a hotel. I did Try to stay as nice as I could and to give Nathalie a chance to work something with us and she completely refused. I would simply not have subjected my wife and two daughters to stay in this place. Pictures are extremely deceiving. And once you’ve paid don’t expect anything from the host.
One last note. Asking guests to pay for taxes cash is illegal in New York and in any other states. If you pay for taxes, you should not be asked to use cash only.

Amazing place, just perfect for four or five persons, great kitchen, good feeling of being home and away at the same time ; the decoration is an inspirational one, which makes you travelling and the owner is adorable. We were all delighted.

Very nice rental in a typical Brooklyn neighbourhood. We were 5 (parents + 3 children) and we never felt stocked with no space enough. The appartement is really spacious, full of light. Nathalie, the owner, very nice and helpfull.
We got great memories of our first stay in N-Y and some of them because of this great rental. We're already dreaming of our next journey there.

I do not think I could have found a more perfect place to stay in Brooklyn than La Maison des Sirenes 2. Having travelled to New York with four of my friends for two weeks in August, it was extremely important for me that the apartment we stayed in felt comfortable and home-like, and Nathalie made sure that our stay could not have been better. A welcoming and friendly hostess, Nathalie catered to every one of our needs; from providing cab numbers, to giving us directions to local restaurants.
The apartment is a gorgeous brownstone set on a idyllic tree-lined street. It is open-plan, with the large and spacious master bedroom leading into an immaculate smaller bedroom. The attention to detail is stunning, with a claw-fot bathtub and antiques providing a unique atmosphere that I did not expect to find. Although Hurricane Irene hit New York while we were there, and we were forced to spend two whole days stuck in the apartment, we could not have felt more at home.
The subway, three blocks away, gave us direct access into Manhattan, and local shops and launderettes provided us with everything we needed.
While many reviews have misrepresented Bedford-Stuyvesant, I found the area to be charming and quiet. The locals were extremely friendly and I always felt safe.
I would strongly recommend anyone visiting New York to stay at this apartment.
Thank you so much Nathalie.
