About this apartment rental
Fabulous apartment in the great Castillogrande area in the most iconic art deco building in Cartagena. The best beaches in Cartagena are just steps away from the apartment. The condo has two private patios with coral stone water fountains that are ideal for entertaining family and friends. One of the spacious patios with a bar-b-q leads to the building swimming pool and has great views of the ocean.
The condo comes fully furnished with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and very comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. The master bedroom is very large and comes with TV, its own sitting area and dressing table. Each bedroom comes with individual AC units for great comfort. Two of the bedrooms include queen size beds and the third bedroom has two single beds. Super fast WIFI and Cable TV with many HD Spanish and English channels, including Netflix and YouTube. Towels, bed sheets are provided. The kitchen is completely updated with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and a large refrigerator. It is fully equipped including microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and blender. Private parking is included with 24 hour security. The large living room-dining room areas has great views of the ocean and direct access to the two private patios.
The rental fee includes a DAILY maid service. Our fantastic maid (who has worked with us over 10 years) will come daily to clean apartment and cook breakfast and lunch as requested (tenant provides required groceries). She is trust worthy and also an amazing cook (the best “arroz con pollo” and “arepas de huevo” that I have ever tasted).
Apartment is in an Ideal location only 15 minutes away from the airport, 5 minutes from the walled city and 3 minutes to San Martin shopping district with great restaurants, casinos and shopping centers.
We have been coming to Cartagena for over 15 years and can recommend the best restaurants in town and also help you plan your stay.
We own a 32 foot boat that can be leased separately to tour the nearby Rosario Inlands, aquarium and other interesting sites in the Cartagena bay.

We had a great time on our trip to Cartagena and enjoyed Gonzalo’s condo (and hospitality) very much. Our group consisted of 4 adults and a 6-year old. There was plenty of space and the property was exactly as advertised. Ledis kept things immaculate and cooked great food too (arepas con juevos, pescado frita, and cazuela de pescado).
Having the pool right outside the door - and the beach across the street - was very convenient...especially with a young kid.
Other recommendations:
Food - Chef Julian (Spanish restaurant with great paella, sangria, and tapas), Mistura (in the old city...good everything...try a drink called Machica).
Tours - I highly recommend Jose with JV Travel. He had nice vehicles for transport, is bilingual for mixed groups, and really knows the Aviary on Baru very well. After the Aviary, the seafood lunch at Reyato’s was excellent! We also hired captains to take us on Gonzalo’s boat for the day. The aquarium was interesting but very packed on the weekend (maybe a weekday would be better). We had lunch at Aqua Azul because the normal public beach (Cholon) was packed. Aqua Azul is a private resort...beautiful beach, good food, and a pool as well, but a bit pricey (still recommend).
For the gringos (Americans) coming to Colombia for the first time:
- Go with the flow and enjoy the beautiful country and people!
- People will always try to sell you things. A simple “No, gracias” with a smile is usually enough to fend them off. If not, walk away or ignore them. Just keep in mind these are people trying to make a living for their families like the rest of us!
- Try new things...especially the food!
- Yes, it’s hot in Cartagena. Try to avoid mid-day activities outdoors (unless the beach or the pool). Wear a hat and sunscreen. A/C isn’t always available at establishments; locals are accustomed to this. You’ll be ok, too!
- Walk. Taking a taxi during the heat of the day might make sense, but otherwise, download a map and walk to the grocery (Carulla). There’s also a small neighborhood store around the corner (Robert). Gonzalo has a small roll-around Carulla bag to make the return trip easier.
- Learn some basic Spanish words for communication.
- This condo isn’t in some private, gated community. Locals from all over Cartagena come to enjoy their beaches. Sometimes things get busy on the weekend, including music and lots of car/motorcycle traffic. Just be careful and you’ll be fine.

Cartagena has many beautiful high rise apartments, but we were looking for something different. This amazing condo in edificio La Marqueza was perfect for the experience we sought. Located in the beautiful Castillo Grande sector we had a clean, spacious, wonderfully appointed apartment in an amazing Art Deco building. The pictures in the listing are accurate, but do not fully reflect how awesome this property is. 2 large private outdoor spaces with fountains to compliment a great 3 bedroom condo with lots of room and architectural interest. A massive master bedroom and steps to the pool (which may as well have been private since we were the only people who used it for 10 days). The property fronts the beach with only a two lane road between us and the Caribbean Sea. Convenient to everything in Boca Grande (short, pleasant walk, or $2.00 cab ride) as well as the Old City ($3.00 cab ride). The building has a concierge 24x7 and the condo comes with a delightful housekeeper who will provide breakfast, lunch and the best empanadas in Cartagena any or all days of your stay. I love contemporary design, and have high standards, but the decor, and layout of this condo was perfect for the environment and added a touch of authenticity missing from the surrounding high rises. The owners were awesome to deal with, very responsive, helpful and accommodating without being in any way obtrusive. I have used HomeAway/VRBO for many trips and can honestly report that this was one of the two best experiences I have had on all fronts. You never really know how the photos and descriptions will match the property on arrival, but in this case everything exceeded even my fondest expectations. It is Columbia, so the showers aren’t hot and the environment isn’t sterile, but it was very clean and comfortable and if I could give six or seven stars I would. We will be going back, and I only hope this review doesn’t make it difficult for us to book because this place should be full all the time.

Family visit
The apartment was beautiful with a gorgeous beach right across the street. It was very spacious and comfortable. It was extremely close to everything either by a quick walk or a taxi. Everyone in the complex was very helpful and accommodating as well. It was a very clean and well maintained apartment. The patio leading out to the pool was awesome as well. Every morning I sat on the patio next to the pool overlooking the ocean. It was a great way to start my day!

Everything was excellent. Upon arrival we were met by our personal cook/maid and the person who would take care of any physcial problems encountered. The drive belt in the dryer broke one day and it was rapidly repaired. The location is excellent .

Amazing stay in Cartagena
I just came back from Cartagena where I stayed with my family (7 in total) in this amazing condo. The experience was great from start to end. The owner Gonzalo was very helpful in giving us information about the condo in general, about places to visit and where to eat out. When we arrived, we were greeted by the condo administrator who made himself available in case we needed something. We also had the help of a wonderful woman who came everyday to clean the condo, do laundry and cook. She spoiled us by preparing breakfast and lunch. She made for us local dishes like empanadas, arepas de huevo (egg arepas), fresh fish, arroz con coco (coconut rice) and patacones (crispy fried plantain). She made sure we enjoyed our vacation without worrying for anything else.
The condo was very spacious, clean, in a very convenient location, with view to the beautiful beach and exit to the building pool, which was almost private to the condo. We felt like at home. It was perfect for a family.
I definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants to stay in Cartagena. Thank you Gonzalo for making our experience so great. We will be back!

Perfect place to stay in Cartagena
We are so happy with our one-week stay at this wonderful condo on the beach in Castillogrande. I can't imagine any place better! We were traveling with my in-laws and our twin boys, age 12 and there was plenty of space for all inside the apartment, yet we rarely left the covered patio and pool!
The location of the condo is to us just perfect. Across the street from the beach (you can always hear the waves), and two blocks from the bay-front paved trail where we walked every day. The walks were never boring--looking at the pretty architecture of wavy balconies on giant towers, then returning to what we think is the best-looking building in Castillogrande--the Marqueza. We cooked our lunch at home, and either walked to a restaurant in Bocagrande, or took a taxi (easy to find and hail) to the old town.
Gonzalo is a very attentive owner who checked in with us several times during our trip. Ledys, the housekeeper, showed my kids how to cook arepas and empanadas and came most days to help out. There is security in the building and wow, if Rio could ever figure out how to be like Cartagena, well, everyone would win. We walked at night time without worrying a bit.
We also contracted the owner's boat with a two person crew to get over to the Oceanarium and the Rosario islands. Highly recommend a trip on the "high seas" though please wear more sunblock than you think you would ever need. We all returned a bit redder than how we started.
Can't recommend highly enough. The best.trip.ever.

Perfect! Clean, perfect location, Peaceful. The perfect place to rest and relax.
My family loved this apartment. It was clean, perfect for children, we could walk out to the pool, walk 80 (of my steps, I am short) steps to the ocean. Lyds, the sweet, lovely lady who helped us by cleaning and cooking was most helpful in so many ways. OH! the sunsets are over the moon each evening, which are right out the back door over looking the ocean. We will be back, our family loved every moment at this lovely home.

Very comfortable, clean and safe accommodations.
I would revisit and highly recommend this condo based on the following:
LOGISTICS
Owner phoned me soon after lodging was confirmed in order to familiarize me with the condo. Info about area dining, attractions etc was also provided. Upon arrival, I was met by a representative who familiarized me with the property.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Beds were comfortable with clean linen. Bathrooms were clean, with fresh towels. Kitchen was well suited for cooking and consuming any type of meal. The patio was very conveniently only six steps away from the swimming pool with a view of the beach across the street. The air conditioning units kept the condo cool. The televisions have a multitude of cable channels as well as access to Netflix.
SERVICE
Excellent and reliable maid service with the offer of cooking meals and laundering clothing in the washer and dryer that is located in the condo unit. A cab can be conveniently summoned on the street front of the condo.
SAFETY
Condo is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood, and an attendant is stationed at the desk 24 hours per day.

The property is on a quiet street, directly across from the beach. Very roomy 3 bedroom 3 bath.
Gonzalo does a great job communicating. We never had a problem. Arrived as arranged we were met by an associate who showed us the ropes. Perfect spot far enough away from the boom boom, yet close enough to walk. Ya gotta have Ledys (house keepers) empanadas, the best we had all trip. Pool seemed private and right out our gate. We hardly saw anyone. Book it you won't be sorry. Great beds, clean rooms, rooftop views just up the elevator, right across from the beach.

The day staff took care of our every need- cooking and cleaning as required. Having the pool on our patio was magnificent. The location was central to
the area and a short walk or cab ride to markets, money exchange or local restaurants.
It was a pleasurable place to stay and I would revisit this property.

Exceeded my expectations. Pictures do not do justice. Beautiful beach front location.
This was a large perfect vacation home for my family. We have 2 adults and 3 kids ages 7, 5, and 3. So this was very large for us. We could've brought grandparents along and had plants of room. The kids easily share 1 room at this age. We brought a movie projector to play movies on the wall of the kids room at night with some dvds we brought. That kept them happy at night and then we have the whole house to ourselves.
The house is stocked very well. They have so many cards and games available to play. 2 tvs with cable and some English tv channels and shows (you just need to adjust the settings to convert to original language on the cable box).
The security of the building is great! Doorman right outside the front door. Luxurious and secure. The kids LOVED the pool!!!! It's right outside the back patio door, with a gate around it to keep young kids safe. The owner was so kind and left pool toys for us to use since I mentioned to him in advance we had kids with us.
The owner, manager, and housekeeper have all been amazing to work with. My husband speaks Spanish and that has been a huge help. But google translator in a jam works ok :) the housekeeper Ledy has done well with the cleaning, and laundry each day. She has gone to the store for us and she also makes great lunch for us each day. She offered to do breakfast too.
The beach is right in front of the condo and it's a beautiful walk on the boardwalk right by the house. We love taking a walk each night. There are 3 playgrounds very close to the house for the kids. From 5pm-8pm these parks are full
Of children that live in this exclusive area of Cartagena.
Taxis are very cheap 6000 pesos around town. The doorman will call one for you if you ask or you ca just wait by the street, plenty come by.
We have had an amazing family time. We even ended up asking the owners if we could extend our stay another week. They have been prompt replying to any questions I had during our stay. One of the AC units stopped working (they have more in other rooms so it wasn't an emergency) and they sent someone out within 24 hours.
Awesome time here! I highly suggest!
