About this house rental
As on Feb 24, we have completed some upgrades. Fresh paint, some new furniture and homewares and are back in business.
Myrtlemae Farm is a 24-acre property hidden away behind state forest one kilometre from the town centre of Balingup. It features meandering gardens and stunning views over-looking the Blackwood River Valley.
‘Rustic’ is certainly a word you could use to describe Myrtlemae Cottage. It is also ‘cosy’, ‘charming’ and ‘comfy’.
We think the cottage started life as a stables come work shed. Since then it has been through a few changes including the addition of flagstone floors using bricks rescued from the old Balingup Hotel.
The cottage has been meticulously re-purposed. The interior living space is essentially one large room split over two levels. The upper level features a queen and two king single beds. On the lower level is the living area with lounge (which folds out to a double bed) and wood fire, dining area and kitchen. The kitchen has a stainless-steel oven, gas cooktop and fridge along with a toaster. kettle, and Nespresso including tea and complimentary coffee pods.
Off the main space modern bathroom that also has a washer/dryer combo. There is also access to south facing deck (perfect for sunsets).
There’s no TV, but you can stare out the widescreen window and take in the nature channel all day and there is a host of books, games and puzzles to entertain.

We were down from Perth with our dog gor a weekend away. The accommodation was just what we needed, the photos are a good indication of the layout and amenities. Super clean, comfy bed, and a great fire and heater, so despite the cold weather we were cosy. Very relaxing and easy get away..

The cottage was well presented, and communication was excellent from Al, the host. The rustic accommodation is perfect for a relaxing holiday, and the location is great. We would recommend!

Nice quiet get away! Location was easy to find and kept clean. Unfortunately no hand soap which was an inconvenience till we brought our own. Bathroom could have been cleaned a little better.
Over all nice relaxing place with friendly horses.
Will return in the near future.

Property is looking a bit unloved and neglected. Needs a paint inside and garden needs work. Minor maintenance -doors hard to shut, family of lizards living on front deck, trees growing into windows. Air con not working to capacity. Someone has really done hard work initially on this restoration and this farmstay property could easily be beautiful again. Area is scenic and resident horses Jack and Bowie enjoyed our apples!

We enjoyed the atmosphere in and around the accommodation. Greens, raindrops, birds and kangaroos. Woodfire gave us a relaxing time. Love this cottage.

A peaceful and serene stay on the outskirts of Balingup, tucked away on a beautiful private property with gorgeous views & friendly horses that visit. No TV but a warm log fire, board games and books....perfect place to unwind with simple pleasures to entertain. Rustic simplicity at its best....thank you!

A lovely property set in a peaceful location and only a short driving distance to the township of Balingup. Once the fire is going, it's very cosy and warm. Wonderful views of the surrounding land. The water pressure to the bathroom basin was very low and it wasn't easy to regulate the shower temperature. Had to run the water for some time before we had hot water. Sink tap in kitchen had a leak and I used chux wipes around tap to try to stop water flooding the wood bench top. A plumber is probably needed to fix this. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you :-)

The setting was beautiful and the view from inside lovely. We had a lot of little bugs inside and the trees on the roof were very noisy at night.
We enjoy the peace and quiet and loved seeing the horses. They were very friendly and happily ate carrots and apples from our hands.
A lovely stay with my daughter.

Peaceful rural retreat
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Location is perfect, very peaceful and private, but only a couple of minutes out of Balingup. The fire kept me cosy at night, and the serenity was just what I needed. Listing is accurate….it is a rustic cottage! But modern bathroom and everything you could ask for. No wifi and no TV suited me perfectly. Good phone reception if you need to keep in contact. I will be back.

A beautiful rustic cottage tucked away on 24 acres just outside of Balingup townsite, so quiet and peaceful apart from the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees. Clean and comfy furnishings, gorgeous polished timber floors, cosy fire and all you need to kick back and recharge....dont forget to take apples and carrots for the resident horses Jack & Bowie, we miss them already! Loved our short stay and will definitely return!!

Beautiful peaceful location . Sweet property,
The only thing that lets it down is the very late 3pm check in and 11am check out .. feels like you pay for time you really aren’t there.

Pure relaxation
A beauty part of the world to stay a few days. The cabin was quaint and the presentation was superb. Views to open fields, where two tame and friendly horses come for their morning pat and juicy carrot. There is a cheeky lizard that also comes each day and likes to pop inside for a look around.
Would be good if another screen door was added to get a breeze through on those hot days without letting all the bugs in. We really enjoyed our stay.
