About this house rental
Water views and great location on the island. The house is positioned towards the end of a quiet boulevard on the north eastern end of the island (about 4kms from where the ferry terminal is located at the southern end of the island). The northern end of the island is where the main bays and beaches are. The water views from the house look towards North Stradbroke Island. There are no houses between you and the water and you can access Moreton Bay out the front of the property. A perfect place for entertaining, relaxing, fishing, swimming, boating and kayaking. There are a number of places on the island where you can eat out, with the closest to the house being the Bowls Club, which has a courtesy bus service. The island has playgrounds and parks (including a new skate park), a 9 hole golf course, a bike track, heritage walking trail, taxi and small local bus service, cafes, two supermarkets, fuel and a host of other services.
Large two storey home, dog friendly. All we ask is that pets are kept off the furniture and we prefer they sleep in the laundry.
The house is perfect for 3 couples or 2 small families. There is an upstairs and downstairs living area, with easy access shower and toilet on both levels. Upstairs has a massive deck off the living area, with open kitchen, dining and lounge (with TV and DVD player). There are two large bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed and the other with a queen and single bed. All the rooms have built-in-wardrobes. Downstairs there is a bedroom with a queen bed, and the rumpus room/bar area with flat screen TV and DVD player. There are also board games and a collection of DVDs at the house. There is wi-fi available at the property and mobile phone reception. The downstairs area flows out to a lower deck and sitting area. The small back yard is fenced and the house is fully screened. The house is designed for anyone looking to have a peaceful and relaxing short break or longer holiday with plenty of space for everyone.
Please note: The house is no longer accessible from the rear of the property as it is fenced off and as such the property is not suitable for anyone with a mobility impairment as there are multiple stairs from the front of the property to the 2nd floor of the house, with no hand rail on the external stairs to the first level. Also note that there are no parties allowed or gatherings, no excessive noise allowed and maximum of 6 people and no smoking on the premises. Breaking of any house rules results in immediate eviction, police action and all monies forfeited, including security deposit.
Boating, swimming and fishing out the front of the property
To the left of the house is an open beach area where you can swim and launch a tinnie or a kayak around the high tide. There is also an all tide ramp at the southern end of the island and a half-tide concrete boat ramp on the western side of the island at Dalpura Bay, which is a short two minute drive (or 15 minute walk) from the house. Dalpura Bay is also a good spot for a swim and a fish when the tide is in and a great place to sit and watch the spectacular sunsets. As well as being able to take a passenger ferry (which now accept GoCards) or a vehicle ferry to the island to access the property, you can pilot your own boat (or even a seaworthy kayak) to the house. You can anchor in the shallow bay out the front of the house for the week or the weekend. The local bay is protected from the North Easterly and the Westerly winds, which makes it ideal for kayaking in most conditions. There is a narrow slipper kayak at the property for the use of guests. There is open parking at the front of the property. Plenty of room for the boat and car.

The house was great and we really enjoyed the views from the front verandah. The step down was an issue and always had to watch when going out on the verandah so a half rail would be a reminder that the step down was there as my partner stepped off there on one occasion. The stairs were an issue as we both had sore knees so would not recommend for older or disabled persons. The back yard and around stairs area needs some maintance work as very uneven and could result in an injury. The bottom step needs repair as its loose. Big hole in road leading up to house and no where to park car except down on roadway out front down 37 stairs.Would have been great if could have entered house from back so didn't have to carry all out things up so many stairs.

Greg's accommodation was the best. Large house, very secured for kids, fully fenced back yard area for dog, large deck with view of Ocean and Stradie island.
We'll be back and next time.
Thank you Greg!

This is our second time staying at Golden Sands on Macleay Island and both times have been so great. It’s such a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable place that we love to bring our kids and Labrador. Our kids fish right out the front, we get to relax on the huge balcony together regardless of the weather, beds are very comfy but the only downside is we only booked 2 nights. We definitely recommend to families, a group of couples or anyone that wants lots of space for their getaway!

Nice house, we were not very fortunate with the weather, very hot and than wet, but we had lots of space in the house. Just mind that there is no aircon upstairs. Thanks

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at On Golden Sands. The house is very comfortable and much larger than we expected. Although the weather was not the greatest, we enjoyed just chilling on the huge deck, utilising the daybed and hammock, reading and soaking up the gorgeous water views. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Communication was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (our dogs did too! They loved the fully fenced yard) and we have already booked to stay again next year. Thanks so much for having us!

The property was impressive for the rental price. There was a little bit of damage to some walls when we arrived, I noticed, as well as one light switch (the downstairs bedroom) which is going to need some maintenance in the near future.
We were all impressed with how comfortable and relaxing the place was, though, and will be sure to return.

We've just enjoyed our 4th visit to Greg's place and this time we brought friends along.
They are used to a 5 star "Straddie" experience and probably had an element of apprehension as they have never visited our Island before.
They were wildly surprised (and I really shouldn't 'talk up' our Island too much) and loved every minute of our way-too-short weekend.
We were child-free this time and had quality reflective time to tune into to the extraordinary choir of many birds and of course we never tire of the view over to Straddie.
We love Golden Sands.

We absolutely love Greg's Beachhouse and have just completed our 3rd trip. We're planning our 4th.
The house is great value and that is just an added bonus to the beautiful setting with an outward looking view to Straddie.
As kayakers and sailors, the position with prime beach frontage, maximises our capacity to relax and enjoy.

Greg's property is great, so much rooms and different areas to spread out and enjoy. Amazing views of the water and lovely and quiet - would love to stay again!

Thus house is BIG! We were musing how large the home was, when we found a secret door to a full sized bar, rumpus room another bedroom and bathroom! Stunning views. We didn't want to leave. Very comfortable, not luxury, but really comfy.

Perfectly located with great facilities. The pictures really don't do this place justice! More than enough room for me and my four friends. We made use of the huge deck, bbq and the kitchen. We also loved how secluded and peaceful the area was (and great proximity to the water). The house was clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely come back!
