About this house rental
As you enter the front door, the Lodge's elk welcomes you from its mount on a 24-foot-tall, stone fireplace. The enormous living room features mountain cabin décor with peeled logs from Mount St. Helens and Acacia hardwood floors. The entire south wall is a bank of windows that gives you a breathtaking scene of Lake Norris and its hills. Your glorious scene is private – no other house is in view.
The living room offers two comfy leather couches, a leather chair and ottoman, an overstuffed recliner, a stereo system, and a 70" HDTV with a DVD player, many DVDs, cable TV, free Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, other internet services, and free WiFi. The living room flows into the kitchen with new slate flooring, a seventeen-foot-long granite island, and counter seating for seven. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare and to serve meals for the entire lodge. It has two pantries, two sinks, two refrigerators (each with an ice maker), two full-sized dishwashers, two ovens, two microwave ovens, two coffee pots, two blenders, and a six-burner cook-top on a second, granite island.
The dining room is right next to the kitchen and features two beautiful oak tables and sixteen matching chairs. Two woodsy chandeliers and elk-horn candelabras make the perfect setting for your meals. To top it off, you have awesome views of the lake from both the kitchen and the dining room -- and nearly every other room in the lodge as well.
Your views get even better when you step through kitchen’s sliding glass door onto the large, two-story deck. Four tables comfortably seat twenty people on the new Brazilian hardwood deck. The grilling area has both a big gas grill and a charcoal grill, as well as a stainless-steel prep table. After your meal, an outdoor sofa and two swivel chairs beckon you to relax, put your feet up, and soak up the awesome lake view. If you walk down to the lower deck, a hanging chair and a hammock await you for the perfect post-meal nap.
The Lakeside Lodge has six master bedrooms, each with a king bed, private bathroom, television, full-sized closet, and lodge decor. On the lower floor, a Kid's Kamp area has two bunks that sleep six kids and features a “cave” full of pillows. These rooms can sleep up to 20 people, and if you need more room, you may also rent the Lakeside Lookout, an efficiency cottage on the property that sleeps four (Vrbo Property No. 1731053). The Lookout has its own private swimming platform/dock and superb views of Norris Lake from its deck.
The Lodge provides everything for your recreation. Downstairs, a giant game room has ping pong, Foosball, air hockey, giant checkers, a closet full of games and Legos, a TV with a DVD player, Netflix, and video games. The Lodge also gives you easy access to the lake. A short walk down a paved sidewalk (with no stairs) takes you down to a big, blue dock with two jet ski ports and a double, covered berth for your boats. At the dock, you can swim, float, boat, fish, relax on teak benches -- or swing on the double teak swing.
At the Lodge's private dock, you and your family can swim in a safe cove off the main channel and away from fast-moving boats. Our cove is only a five-minute boat ride away from the pirate-themed Sugar Hollow Marina and is less than two miles from the lake’s well-known jumping bridge -- a guaranteed thrill. And after a day of swimming, boating, tubing, and water-skiing, you and your family can watch the stars come out around our new fire pit, complete with a picnic table and circle of new Adirondack chairs. To top off your perfect day on the water, a crackling campfire and tasty s’mores await you!

The layout of this lodge allows everyone to be close for dinners, games while providing great lake views.
Each bedroom with bath was also nice, kids camp was a winner for the small kids. The slope walk to water allows a golf cart to take our older mom and handicap kids down with little effort. Long and short is hated to leave and can't wait to return.

We rented the lakeside lodge for the first time this year and all I can say is this place fit every need we had for 11 people, very well equipped home had everything we needed in the kitchen, two of everything made it so nice to cook for a large group, the area was great the house was clean
and beds were very comfortable everyone says they slept like a baby,. We loved the way they thought of everything had a whole closet full of games and toys a neat hideout for kids, the owners Steve and Kathy Ray are amazing and got back to us right away with any questions.. we already booked for next year in this gorgeous home.. the dock was awesome lots of room for our jet skis and tritoon boat…. Best house we have been in on Norris, we have been coming over 10 years and this was the best so far .. highly recommend if you need a home for a large party, and every bedroom was a master with king beds and private bath plus a bunk room .. can’t add enough stars to this home

Lakeside Lodge was the perfect location for my water-loving family to relax, unwind, and have fun in the sun. The rooms were clean and spacious, the kitchen was well equipped, and the game room had a large variety of activities to fit a variety of ages. We loved having 2 refrigerators and dishwashers. Our grandson had a blast staying in the Kids Camp. The walk down to the water was steep, but that’s to be expected for Lake Norris and we much preferred the sidewalks to the multiple flights of stairs present at other properties on the lake. We rented a boat and appreciated the nearby marinas, the jumping bridge, plus the multitude of little coves to explore. The hosts, Steve and Kathy, communicated well before our stay and called to make sure everything was okay during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying at the Lakeside Lodge.

Steve and Kathy’s home was exactly what my group was looking for! Plenty of space for our group of eleven. The kitchen had absolutely everything necessary to fix any meal during your stay. The view from the deck was incredible. To get to the water and the private boat dock was not steep compared to other homes on the lake.
The location of their home is perfect to get to the famous jumping bridge, as well as gas for your boat at Sugar Hollow Marina. Both of these were within a five minute ride from the dock.
Kathy even called the house phone during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed, which I found very considerate.
When I got home from our trip, I immediately talked to my wife and we plan on coming back to the lodge next year and bring the kids! I had such a great time at their beautiful home.
Thank you Steve and Kathy!

This trip is with a group of guys (6) that have been friends for 60 + years all originally from Michigan. We met for several years with the wives for a yearly reunion.
We were very pleased with our stay at Lakeside, just a absolutely beautiful home. Owners were great to work with, the views of the lake, awesome, so much room. Would encourage anyone to come and stay here at Lakeside Lodge.

Everything was good. Plenty of room, exceptional kitchen, equipment & seating. A bit of TV difficulty that was resolved — not normally necessary but it’s football season. Location & boat dock fine.
Everything as described. I would recommend!

We love Norris Lake and the Lakeside Lodge met our expectations!!! The house had plenty of space to spread out. The covered deck was amazing, the game room served us well with a ping pong tournament and the dock was amazing and spacious for the fishing, swimming and relaxing that we had. The crew caught many fish of all kinds including multiple catfish, bass, and panfish. The swing on the dock allowed some peaceful moments down by the water.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will likely be back again!

The lodge was amazing! Exactly as described in listing and the kitchen was better equipped then my own home, which was necessary for us as we cooked in almost every day!
Beds were comfortable
It rained first 2 days but with the game room and covered deck there was plenty to do!
Thanks so much for a great week!

The Lodge was absolutely perfect for our family of 13. We had 7 adults, one 8 year old, two 5 year olds, two 2 year olds, and one infant. The Kids Kamp was a huge hit for all our grandkids. Adults had absolutely everything we needed for the house and the lake. Dining table for 16 was huge. Two large outside decks had wonderful views of the lake. Main deck had tables and seating for 18 and comfortable lounge patio seating for 5. Lower deck had a comfortable, huge hammock and a very nice chair and foot support hung from deck above.
Kitchen was very well stocked with two refrigerators, two double sinks, large center island, and everything imaginative for the entire kitchen. Hose decoration was very interesting, from the Elk over the fireplace, the large bear in the corner of the living room, animal skins on the wall, to even a small wooden bear carving on a nice light stand. House was clean throughout. Wife says this house was perfect and was overall the best place our family has stayed EVER. Very pleased wife.
Only issue we had (and it was extremely small) was the island sink faucet had a small, slow drip near the handle. We simply left a folded paper towel under the handle for the owner to fix in the future.
We hope to return for future family vacations.

Kathy & Steven are perfect hosts and so hospitable! We look forward to a return trip!

Our stay was amazing! The home is beautiful! There is plenty of room to spread out even with a large group. All of the master suites made it perfect for our family to gather and celebrate Christmas! Would most certainly return to this lodge again! The host communicated frequently and made things very easy.

We’ve been getting together with our group of friend for the past two years on Norris Lake. This was our first time at this house and loved it. Gorgeous views off the huge back deck, perfect layout for big dinner at the enormous dining room table. We took advantage of the kayaks and enjoyed a serene paddle in the little bay. Great communication with hosts, really appreciated them checking in with us. We plan to be back!

This is the perfect property to take a group. We had 4 families there for Labor Day and loved each having our own separate master suites to retreat to. The kids camp in the basement was adorable and provided plenty of room for kids of all ages to unwind.

This home is perfect for family and friends. It is beautifully decorated, kitchen has everything needed along with great work space for all to help prepare meals. Bedrooms are private and quiet with each having their own bathroom. The kids camp is adorable for any age child. The outside is just as nice as the inside with a very large deck, firepit, and very large dock. We truly enjoyed our trip and will be back.

This property is by far our favorite we have stayed at since we started doing this large group Norris trip. The kitchen is massive and stocked with anything you would need, the decks themselves gorgeous even if they didn’t have an incredible view of the lake. The walk to the lake wasn’t hateful despite the slope, it was well lit, and my girls favorite spot to lay out a night and watch the stars. The fire pit area was nice with plenty of space. The whole family loved playing pong and air hockey together. Our kids were so well entertained with the closet of games and toys that getting them down to the lake was a battle. Even with being on a more open part of the lake, the waves at the dock were minimal, and floating and relaxing in the clear water was so enjoyable.
This property is very kid and family friendly. Very neatly decorated with a cabin feel.
We ended up being down a boat yet still felt we had a great trip because of the space.
The community was also very neat, lots of deer and a great winery close by.

Lakeside Lodge Family Funweek
We spent a week at the Lakeside Lodge and it was perfect for our very large extended family (mom and dad, their three kids, spouses, and 9 grandchildren). We did a massive grocery shop on the way in and never left the property again— you won’t want to! Everyone had their own king sized bedroom, and the kids loved the bunk room downstairs. There were games and puzzles galore, but we spent the majority of our time swimming off the dock and cruising around Lake Norris on a pontoon boat (delivered to the dock by Oasis Water Sports). The kitchen is massive which allowed for some epic family meals. And the porch has a beautiful view complete with hummingbird feeders. Don’t be like us and overpack. All you need is a swim suit, towel, pair of pajamas, and flip flops. Be sure to visit the Sugar Hollow marina for taco Thursdays and live music, and don’t chicken out at the jumping bridge!

This house and the property is beautiful. The listing is exactly as it states.
My family had plenty of room to spread out…all adults slept in their own master suite. The kids loved the downstairs sleeping arrangement and all the games the owners have in the closet. They were super excited to find 2 gaming systems but stayed so busy with us playing outdoors, they never played them and had very little phone time. That was a huge win for everyone. The kitchen has two of everything (sinks, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, ovens, and dishwashers, even two sets of washer and dryers in the basement). Enough seating inside and outside for an army. We took our boat out fishing and tubing and brought it back to the private covered dock. Swimming off the dock was nice because the cove they are in is safe and away from the main boating part of the lake. S’mores over the fire at night was also the best dessert and family time to end our evenings.
If you want to visit Norris Lake and relax with friends and family, this is the house you want to do that in. Perfect all around.

Gorgeous Lakeside Family Getaway
This beautiful property exceeded our expectations in every way! Impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, designed in such a way that there was privacy when desired but also an open design for family gathering in kitchen (incredibly well appointed), living room and lower level game room. And the views!! Access to the lake was also perfect! This may be our favorite vrbo EVER!

Wonderful Full Family Getaway
We had an absolute blast at this gorgeous property. It was perfect for our large family.
The bunk room was a HUGE hit with our kiddos. We had the following ages: >12mo, 21mo, 3, 4, 5, 7. The four bigger kiddos loved it and they loved the cave. It was so amazing what they had done with that space. Entertainment for hours. The game room was perfect for the adults and would be amazing for teenagers as well. They had tons of board games, legos, and other stuff in the closet for all ages that kept them so entertained.
The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and so convenient to have two of most everything for our large family. There was a perfect amount of space for everyone to have their own space but it still felt cozy. The grandparents took the master suite on the main floor which was perfect for them and there were two additional bedrooms on the bottom floor that had the kids bunk room and three more bedrooms on the top floor. Both the infants were able to get their own room in a pack and play which was perfect for the adults. Made it so restful and more fun in the end :)
Things to note:
1. The walkway is steep to the dock and firepit - totally doable for us but would be difficult for elderly to get down there if that's important for you (It's not a staircase, just a paved walkway so you're relying on your own balance)
2. This is perfect for a pretty secluded getaway (we went off season in March so probably a pretty different vibe than what I hear the lake is like in the summer). It is a pretty big drive in and out of the area after you leave LaFollette. If you're comfortable driving through narrow and steep areas it's a breeze but if that's something that makes you uneasy it's something to be aware of. Its about a 40+ minute drive to Walmart and 30ish to the nearest Grocery Store, if you're comfortable driving through those types of areas. If not it would take longer. We made sure to try to not forget anything at the grocery store to only have to make one big trip but you know how it goes.. always forget something haha
overall -- the BEST first trip of many that we will hopefully be doing annually. We would DEFINITELY stay again if we decide to go to the same area again. It was the perfect place that fit our budgetary needs as well.
Thank you Steven for a wonderful stay!

Great lake views!
Everything was exactly as listed. Beautiful view of the lake. Game room full of games was a plus, we had everyone entertained. We got lost trying to find the house specially since we arrived at night, but once you find it you can get around. Most of our family has AT&T and we did not have signal at all, the good thing is that they had wifi. But overall it was a great vacation, we hope to be back soon!

Nice Lake House
Overall a really nice property. Well set up for large groups for sure with all the king beds and huge open area for hanging out with family. Walk to the dock is no joke, it’s steep. Nice dock. Would definitely recommend.

Great home that easily accomadates large family. Beautiful views of the lake.
Our stay was in November. The walk to boat dock was very steep in off season when the water level is low however it didnt stop us from utilizing the dock fishing and kayaking. The lake water is a beautiful, emerald color and very clean. Home is situated in a cove which allows for much privacy. We had the whole cove to ourselves, which we loved. Owner was easily reachable, attentive and responsive to issue that arose. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare for all the meals including 2 crockpots. We hope to return again!

Amazing house with an amazing view!
Our small church group (6 couples) enjoyed our weekend at Lakeside Lodge. There was plenty of room for everyone and each couple enjoyed having a king bed. It was quiet and peaceful with amazing views. The fire pit was a big hit! The home is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The kitchen is large and beautiful, perfect for a group. The home is nicely decorated and several commented on the interesting objects on the living room walls. Communication with the owner was excellent. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Summer 2021 at The Lake Lodge
We did our first ever family and friends summer vacation. The Lodge provided ample space for our entire group. Each large bedroom with their own bathroom was a plus!! Then kids enjoyed all of the amenities on the property from the game room or just jumping and swimming off of the dock. We enjoyed group breakfast and dinners without being on top of each other. It was our first time to Norris lake and it is truly beautiful! The water is very clean and you can see your toes! We were a close boat ride to the local marinas where we able to have a quick snack and ice cream. We brought our own boat and did find that we needed to prepare in advance to locate a place to launch and then store our trailer prior to coming to the house. We did not realize the terrain!

Family vacation
Great place to stay house was plenty big for 12 people and everything was as listed in the details. House was very clean and kitchen and dinning room was amazing. Short walk to the dock for great swimming and boating along with a fire pit for late night marsh mellows. Keep in mind this house set just ways in the cove with only two other houses to be seen. Very private will for sure be back. Thanks Steve for all your help on getting us hooked up with the marina and the emails. Communication was outstanding. We will be back.

Lakeside Lodge with Beautiful Deck
Excellent location on the lake for boating that permits access to the main body of the lake while still peaceful enough to permit kayak trips throughout the day. Bedrooms all have king sized beds and private bathrooms. The home has a very spacious main deck where we spent the vast majority of our time. The dock is in good condition and a nearby business delivers boats with a three day rental.

Retreat
My family and friends (15 of us) had an incredible time staying at the lake side lodge. The lodge itself was beautiful and it was great to have room for all 15 of us to be able to cook dinner and eat with one another for each meal. We had an incredible time and the hosts were very accommodating. Would highly recommend to any family group.

2020 Family Christmas at Lakeside Lodge
Our family had an amazing time at Lakeside Lodge over the Christmas holiday. The lodge, which overlooks a quiet wooded cove on Norris Lake, provided stunning views of a winter landscape along with many sightings of deer on the property. As you enter the lodge, you immediately feel embraced by a warm and inviting atmosphere. Every room of the house is well- appointed and cozy. Each bedroom is spacious, outfitted with comfortable king mattresses and pillows. Several of the grandchildren enjoyed sleeping in the Kids Kamp bunk room with its secondary secret entrance/exit through the “Cave” underneath the stairs. The kitchen is a dream—well equipped and spacious to work in. We loved that we were able to dine together at the long dining room table with seating that accommodated all 16 of us. And there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained: roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, kayaking, running or walking up and down the paved pathways around the property for a good workout, hiking around part of the lake, watching Christmas movies together as a family in the great room, playing video games or playing foosball, air hockey and ping pong in the game room, or making handmade Christmas ornaments with the children around the spacious dining room.
We are very grateful to the Ray family for providing a beautiful venue for our family to gather together to celebrate Christmas and for so thoughtfully setting up a Christmas tree with lights for us to enjoy.
