About this house rental
This unique eco-lodge is totally “off the grid”. It was awarded the Blacket Award for outstanding architectural merit, outside of Metropolitan Sydney, by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. Using the latest in eco-friendly technology, it is extremely energy efficient. The Eco Lodge consists of 2 double bedrooms that open onto the mountain grasses. Each enjoys a separate bathroom. There is also a study that sleeps 3 (1 bunk bed and another small single bed).
Set into the side of the mountain, the lodge is perched above the river and allows you to enjoy the Australian landscape in comfort. Wake up to watch the morning mist roll over the mountain ridge. Enjoy your morning breakfast on the sun drenched deck or picnic by the river. Extensive bush walking tracks, swimming holes and picnic spots.
Cox's River Rest
Cox's River Rest is set on approximately 1600 acres. It is a mix of grazing paddocks and untamed Australian bushland, and is bounded by a 5 kilometre loop in the Cox's River. The Eco Lodge is an eco-friendly accommodation option on Cox's River Rest.
This secluded bush escape is situated in the Megalong Valley, only 30 minutes drive from Blackheath in the Blue Mountains (about 1.5-2 hours drive from Sydney). Hidden at the end of the valley and right on the river - bring your mountain walking shoes, great books, good food and some good Aussie wine and have a ball!
The property is easily accessible and conveniently close to all the wonderful things the Blue Mountains has to offer, but it also has walks and scenery of its own more than enough to occupy your whole weekend. Maps and ideas are provided at the lodge for your information.

Awesome place.. loved it!
This was exactly the place I wanted to book - far away from the city but close enough to get there within 2-3 hours. The accommodation was excellent and the surrounding countryside gorgeous..! Karan

Rivers' edge hideaway heaven
Too many highlights to mention...but a few were; the gorgeous drive down from blackheath through the forest, the ponies, the fireplace, the river, the views, the warmth [this house is so well designed..heats up so easily & stays warm all night], the gorgeous black cows ,the roo's, painting the scenery, picnic up on the ridge, the flying fox over the river, the river sounding like the ocean all night long, the loo's, the fresh air, the fresh air inside the house too- no toxic chemicals, the toast rack is neat, the rocks, and last but not least - the heidi loft bed - dreamy spot for reading and having a nap. Excellent property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, almost like camping with all the luxuries. We will consider going back again. Only worry we had was the fear of snakes ( as warned in the information pack) as children running around. Jude

Stunning
The Lodge-Think of your favourite shoes-Cosy,comfortable and unpretentious. The location-simply stunning. Perched sixty metres above a pristine river with wombats, echidna ,roo's and platypus as your companions. As a seasoned world traveller I struggle to come up with a comparable location. For retirees or families wanting adventure in a safe environment then this is for you. John

Peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful location
Quaint little lodge set on a picturesque bush farm by the river. It was very comfortable and clean. We spent our time reading and relaxing and just taking in the beautiful surroundings. The lodge was well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable self-catered break. Amanda

An extremely rewarding 3 night stay

We had another great stay at the Ecolodge - its a great place to get away from the city with lovely walks in the hills, an amazing river, great views and outlooks, and a quirky and fun house to stay in with a great fire and a sleeping arrangement that is very fun for the kids. This time we also arranged a ride on the Icelandic ponies which my 5 yr old daughter absolutely loved! Will definitely be back!

Paradisiacal spot, kind and helpful hosts that dropped by.
Wise idea to create this eco-lodge to model how to take care of creation in a comfortable, hospitable setting.
The website listing's accommodation graphic isn't accurate - it shows a pair of bunkbeds plus the single upstairs (5 total beds), but there is one set of bunkbeds plus the single (3 total beds) - accurately described in the written information. That is a detail that should not overshadow the otherwise wonderful place itself and attentive caretakers. Thank you!

Best holiday ever
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Eco lodge. It was the most relaxing holiday we have ever been on.
Great time spent with our family just being together instead of having to do things.
Amazing views & the stars one night were the best we’ve ever seen.

Stunning
We had a wonderful weekend at the eco lodge. The setting is just stunning, and the house is lovely and comfortable and built to make the most of the location. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay including walking on the land, french cricket down by the river, and a barbecue on the verandah.I was sad to leave. Thank you !!

Consistently Amazing
This is now the second time that we have been lucky enough to spend time in the Eco Lodge, and again the house and property exceeded our expectations. For a family with children the Eco Lodge ticks all the boxes if you are looking for an escape from the City.

Beautiful, peaceful & serene
We had a wonderful time staying at the Eco Lodge.
The lodge itself was well appointed with everything you needed to have a comfortable stay.
We sat outside on the veranda everyday enjoying the sound of the Cox’s River flowing and the wildlife surrounding us.
The property is beautiful. We took one of the 4WD tracks and ended up on top of the ridge with the most spectacular views! We even saw an echidna in the wild.
The kids loved the flying fox over the river and we spent quite a bit of time just relaxing on the rivers edge.
Our hosts were great. Every email was answered in a very timely manner.
We loved our stay at the Eco Lodge and will definitely return.

Simply Magical
This is a truly magical place, and provides a perfect opportunity to connect with nature. During our two day stay we ziplined, explored the creek, picknicked, and had a wonderful tour of the stables with our young children, who will have beautiful memories of this place. Thank you for having us.

Stunning
We absolutely loved the Eco Cottage. The location is amazing - so tranquil and private. Wonderful to have the river there for picnics and paddling, and there were lovely walks. Great to be in a place off the grid, too. We all felt restored and refreshed by our short holiday in this special place and can't wait to go back.

We love this place!
This was our 3rd stay. This time our 2 teenagers bought s friend each and we all had a great time. We will definitely be back for a 4th stay.
It’s quiet and relaxing. The house is perfect in winter or summer. The property and the whole valley is just stunning and the Eco Lodge feels like you are a million miles away from everything, but it’s only just over 2 hours from Sydney.
The kids loved exploring the property and spent a lot of time at the river and in the flying fox.
The Icelandic horses are just beautiful and very friendly and loved our daily visits and pats.
A relaxing, chilled 4 nights away from he world!
