• Wood burning fireplaces

Kanimbla View Clifftop Retreat is located on one of the most beautiful properties in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, just 90 minutes from Sydney.
Surrounded on three sides by unspoilt Crown bushland, you feel like you are staying in your own private National Park. Yet you are only 3 minutes away from beautiful Blackheath village.
The Guardian has featured Kanimbla View as one of the 30 "best green places to stay around the world" -- and the only one in Australia. Kanimbla View is one of only 7 eco-retreats to be featured in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Weekend 52 Weekends Away 2014.
Kanimbla View offers stylish, distinctive and comfortable accommodation -- from budget to eco-luxury.
We cater for couples, families and groups of up to 18. Groups (minimum 12) are accommodated in our two three-bedroom eco-cottages (two bedrooms in each can be configured as Kings or singles, the third bedroom contains a double and single bed), and Studio which is one large room with a Queen Futon and 3 single beds. Couples or families requiring a single cottage should contact the owners for a quote.
The retreat is ideal for holidays, celebrations, conferences and yoga retreats.
It also has an all-weather tennis court, boules pitch and 1.5 km of walking tracks.
There really is peace in this place.
Getting out and about
On the retreat itself you can play tennis, basketball or table tennis under a cathedral of gum trees. You might wander down to the boules/petanque area for a quiet game, or sit out on the heath deck and just drink in the distant views.
But most importantly you will want to explore our walking tracks and make your way down to your own private clifftop lookouts on our escarpment. With the aid of our maps and leaflets you can get to know a bit more about how this fragile environment can support such an abundance of plants and animals.
Beyond the retreat
If you want to go further afield than the retreat, then we are only 3 minutes away from Blackheath's excellent cafes, restaurants, galleries and bakeries. Another 5 minutes and you will find yourself at the doorstep to the Greater Blue Mountains National Park. The park offers some wonderful lookouts and walking tracks. But just a few minutes away from the retreat you can discover some equally inviting walks and views around Porter's Pass and Centennial Glen.
Beyond Blackheath you might take in a great film at Mt Victoria's welcoming, old-fashioned cinema at Mt Vic Flicks. Further west lie the Jenolan Caves. To the east you can explore more of the Blue Mountains bordering charming villages like Leura or Wentworh Falls.

A group of 13 of us stayed at this wonderfully quirky property. The hosts were wonderful, Nigel greeted us and gave us the rundown on how it all worked, then stepped back and allowed us to enjoy. The kitchen was well appointed and worked well for us. Beds were comfortable and warm. The cottages were well appointed. Thanks Nigel and Tony.

The property was great for getting a true feeling for the Blue Mountains, the bush, wonderful scenery and walking tracks.
The accommodation was good for a big family group of 18, with just one disappointment about the beds in the third ‘house’!
Overall, a great stay and beaut place to celebrate with family.

The place was amazing/beautifully maintained, was great to have so much space for a large group with the tennis court and cottages. As well as being able to spend the evenings in the lodge.
Nigel was great at explaining everything/welcoming us and we ended up having a very relaxed getaway for the weekend.

Honestly this place is heaven. The owners really go above and beyond making you feel super comfortable. The place has everything you could need and so much more. The kitchen, wow it is HUGE and AMAZING !! Has everything you could possible need to cook up a storm. Fully stocked. We were told we could take our time checking out and we didn't need to rush out, which was really lovely and sweet. Thank you for an amazing experience. Can't wait to do it again!! We are all obsessed with your beautiful garden and colourful flowers.

Roto Lu toilets were not noticed by us untill the last day massage from owner.
There were some flies in the comode on the last morning in the last cottage.
Taps were leaking there
Cottages had spider webs on roof
Even though it is an eco friendly system we expected a bit more

Fabulous for a group
What a great property for a group wanting together time, but also to be able to sneak off for a nap! We loved hanging out in the common lodge area, warm and toasty with the fires, and the kitchen was great for a crowd cook-up.
Nigel greeted us and told us all we needed to know for a great longweekend!

Great for family gatherings
Nigel was always quick to reply to questions etc. After months of rain there were damp tracks to be avoided. But the connections between the cabins and the community lodge were dry and lit at night. All cabins were warm as comfy. Fabulous commercial kitchen with fast dishwasher. Individual cabins allowed for getting away from the crowd. Short and long walks close at hand.

Stop looking! Book here now!
Last weekend, a group of 12 of my friends booked to stay at this property. From booking, Nigel was very good at communicating and sorting out any questions and issues we had. Once we arrived at the property, we were greeted by Nigel - who was a delight and very very helpful and friendly! The lodge was the perfect place for our large group to gather and not have to worry about the music being loud! The lodge also had a beautiful commercial kitchen with everything you need to cook for a big group... including a massive air fryer! The cabins were exactly what we wanted and allowed for separate time away from the group for sleep and when needed! All the areas had fireplaces which warmed us up with additional firewood avaliable. The grounds were beautiful and I would 100% recommend exploring and going on the many walks around the property. All of us very much enjoyed our weekend away and were said to leave! We will definitely be coming back & you should definitely book too! Great for big groups!
Thanks so much Nigel!

Picturesque and unique. We loved the property for our big group. The lodge with the commercial kitchen (housed all our Thermomixes) was perfect for our day sessions together and the cottages and their architecture were amazing. Loved the fire places and the surrounding bush was beautiful. A short walk to an incredible view gave the early morning walkers some inspiration. It was quiet and peaceful and i would definitely go here again. Nigel was hospitable and responded to all of our requests without delay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us.

My family and I had a most amazing weekend. Kanimbla View Blackheath is a perfect family venue - 22 of us. Nothing but praise for it.

Everyone enjoyed their stay and loved all the little fireplaces in the cottages. My favourite feature was the industrial kitchen that was available for guests to use. The property was large with plenty of outdoor activities. The adobe room was cosey & comfortable. Most importantly the facilities were clean and tidy.Nigel was very friendly, accomodating and accessible and made some great recommendations on things to do /places to visit.. We loved our stay.

Amazing weekend away!
Exquisite location with short walks on the property to amazing lookouts and much to do and see in the local area (including local apple orchid with delicious apple pies and warm spiced apple juice within walking distance). Was the perfect setting to celebrate with 20 friends, with great communal areas to enjoy each other's company and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy quiet time relaxing.
Highlights include amazing fireplaces, commercial kitchen and tennis court. No neighbours nearby so you really feel secluded with your own private space, excellent stereo system in the communal lodge was great for the music lovers! Don't look past this wonderful property!

Excellent Property
Eighteen people comprising three generations spent the past weekend at Kanimbla celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary.
The venue was ideal – room to spread, and then convene together in the Adobe. Wood fires, dinner on arrival, Red Pepper catering for the big dinner on Saturday night and the entire place to ourselves. Everything was perfect. A dream come true. Thank you Nigel and Tony for your professionalism, and personal touch.

Unique property
4 families spent the June long weekend at Kanimbla and it was perfect for us. We were torn between spending time on the tennis court and in the commercial kitchen. The kids loved the property and were able to run around and explore in between games of tennis, table tennis, basketball and scooting about. The owners gave us a lovely warm welcome and had the fires already burning which was much appreciated on a cold Friday afternoon. I highly recommend this property

Great lounge
Family group holiday away. Loved the houses, however the studio I think shouldn't be rented out as accommodation. It suited our group as the kids all stayed there and it's close to the great communal lounge area, however if I wasn't part of a group I would hate staying in that room.
The communal lounge and kitchen were great and the kids enjoyed the tennis court.
Pit toilets may put some off but just part of the holiday experience for us.
Overall good place to stay as a group, don't think if like it if I was just staying there with my partner though.

We had a group of 15 colleagues stay for the weekend. We really enjoyed the property. The property is fantastic for both large and small groups. The communal area includes a huge commercial kitchen, den seating with a fireplace, and a two large dining tables. It has a great atmosphere inside and out.The separate cottages are fantastic allowing those groups who wished to retire for the evening to do so. Both cottages are self-contained and well-equipped with a warm and inviting feel. The property itself is beautiful with lots of small trails and lookouts nearby, a great tennis court and a beautiful garden area.Nigel was a fantastic host (he even provided us with an additional pot when requested!) and we would certainly recommend Kanimbla for your stay.
