A lovely relaxing break - near to the cite, but away from tourist crowds.

We liked the quirkiness of the apartment, its history and its location. Having a balcony with sun for most of the day was a bonus. Well-equipped kitchen and very good shower room. Very comfortable bed and the shutters worked well.

Absolutely perfect

The apartment was in a beautiful old French building and had lovely high ceilings. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was good. The kitchen was well equipped and even had a coffee maker. The host was excellent, really responsive. I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Carcassone, the location was prefect. I hope to come back here at least a couple more times because I enjoyed my stay so much.

Good value in a good location

Good central location, close to restaurants and amenities. Not far to walk to the the train station or the castle. Kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom had shampoo and conditioner, which is great if you are travelling light. Nicely decorated and enjoyable to chill out there. Really enjoyed having the Carcassonne boardgame there to play 😃

It was very hot and the street noise is loud at night. But it was August and in the middle of the town. The toilet seat lid drops down on you 😄

Great position close to restaurants and the train station.

Spacious comfortable 1 bedroom apartment. Breakfast/snack pack was appreciated as was the range of tea/coffee items.

Fantastic location close to the town plaza. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants within short walking distance. Also close to a large supermarket. Very comfortable apartment with well equipped kitchen.

The apartment we had was on the third floor, therefore lots of stairs to climb. The staircase was beautiful however. There are two other apartments lower down.

Collected from Alex in the wine shop. He could not be more welcoming. All guets get a free bottle of wine .

It was a wonderfully spacious apartment with fabulous sunlight and large windows for letting in the breezes. Being located in the Bastide is a huge plus. Alex the owner is very responsive and a quick communicator making all the arrangements easy. We used the kitchen, dining room, and washing machine to keep our trip expenses quite manageable.

No issues here.

Great apartment in the old part of town, lots of character and charm (in a good way).

Well appointed apartment on the first floor with small balcony off the bedroom and lounge room overlooking the street. Comfy new bed! Kitchen well equipped. Host very friendly and helpful. Town square is very close at the end of the street with many good restaurants. Bonus, the very helpful host owns the wine shop on the ground floor.

Street can be noisy first thing in the morning and at night but that is to be expected in that location. Just adds to the atmosphere !

Wine, tasty food, history and local knowledge from host, Alex, was superb!

It was great to be both close to the Place Carnot (the central square in the Bastide part of Carcassonne and also a very easy walk to the Cite.

Being on first floor was great and lovely to have a balcony but occasionally a bit noisy but nothing massively disruptive

The apartment was excellent value for money. It is situated in a very good location ideal for exploring the town or further afield as the station is a few minutes walk away. The bed was very comfortable and the fan most effective. The owners are welcoming and helpful and the complimentary bottle of wine was much appreciated.

We had a great time in Rue Barbes.

The apartment was in a great location. There was plenty of room and there was also a fantastic balcony. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was great too. The cooker/oven was easy to use, as was the washing machine. Bars, supermarkets and restaurants right on your doorstep.

we would highly recommend this apartment as central to night life in Cabot square

everything we needed was there and very comfortable bed and sofas in lounge ideal for two people.

there was nothing to dislike as the owners seem to have catered for everything needed in a home.

All good but noisy

Space, location, furniture, kitchen...

Place is central, so you have to expect it to be noisy, especially as windows are single glazing. That's the only issue with the place.

Great apartment

Great apartment in fantastic location with lovely roof terrace. Very week equipped and lovely furniture. Very comfortable bed and quiet room.

The main entrance door to the building is dirty and the glass broken . Not a great first impression. There is also an unpleasant small on the staircase. Also payment was not automatic through Booking.com for some reason ? And we had to go the the owners shop to pay on the morning of our departure .

Really nice apartment, nicely furnished with lots of space. Alex was very helpful and gave us some good information about the area and things to do locally. Had a great holiday!

If you don't like stairs, book the first floor apartment.

Amazing stay in Carcassonne

The apartment is well located outside, but close to, the main touristic area. The apartment is spacious, for two, and the decoration fits very well the proposed idea. For those who like to buy some local stuff in the markets, the kitchen is well equipped. Alexander was easygoing and helpful throughout ours stay there.

There was a small inconvenience with the regulation of the temperature in the shower, but that was promptly solved.

Lovely apartment, full of character! Close walk to the old city and not too far a drive from Narbonne & Perpignan for beach days. Parking available close by, w/ weekly pass for €20. Host was very friendly and gave great recommendations! Would definitely return to this property! 😊

Its an apartment right in the very centre of Carcassone - easy to walk to dinner -s hops - citadel. Lovely traditional apartment with small kitchen. Perfect for a short stay.

Its location is its advantage and its drawback. In the centre - narrow street - 2 minutes walk from the square with all the restaurants and bars. Its not the quietest location at night as a result

A week in Carcassonne

After a second stay in 2 years at Rue Barbes, myself and my girlfriend can only rave about the apartments. We arrived just after the massive European heatwave but it was still very warm, so the 2 fans in the apartment were a welcome break from walking around in the heat. Everything about the apartment was above standard once again, with a lovely welcome from Alex. When we eventually complete a 3rd trip to Carcassonne, we won't be looking for anywhere else to stay!
