About this cabin rental
This riverfront cabin in Kernville has everything! The backyard is the river with a beach area, hiking, fishing, rafting, tubing, skiing, horseback riding, or just sit in the river with a beer and some friends! With sleeping space for 12, there is ample room for groups and families. Lake Isabella is 15 minutes away for added fun! Premium cable, high speed internet and wifi. 3,000 sq ft of living space and newly remodeled with a gourmet kitchen, giant bathrooms, an outdoor rain shower, and very comfortable beds, there is no other rental in the area that has these amenities and a sandy beach right out the backdoor.
Two large master suites, both with sliding glass doors onto a huge second story balcony for star gazing and morning coffee. Third guest bedroom has a queen bed. There is a triple bunk bed with a full size mattress on the bottom. Additional sleeping space includes a 15' indoor teepee with a custom mattress; sleeps 2 adults or 4 children. Extra large Juvee pack n' play is provided. All bedrooms have luxury linens and lots of pillows. The bathrooms all have large walk-in showers with river rock detail and are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Small kids nook upstairs is stocked with books and toys. Whether you are looking for a base for daily outdoor adventures or a quiet nature retreat, this LUXURY cabin has something for everyone.
The cabin has been lovingly remodeled and has exclusively been used by family previously. It is immaculate and stocked like a family home with everything you need from spices, cookware, folding chairs, towels, shampoo and soap, etc... There is a separate beverage/wine fridge. Most condiments and cooking essentials are already here and for your use.
NEW: The downstairs patio area has a new patio set with seating for six and a propane fire pit. There is also a brand new propane grill. High speed internet and WIFI enabled, plus cable channels, Starz and Showtime. Mountain internet and cable service can be spotty, please understand this before booking. If you must have internet at all times, the mountains might not be the best place for you.
The Area: Kernville is 5 minutes down the road and has lots of shops, bars, and eateries. Most holiday weekends there is a festival going on in the center of town with food trucks and local artisan vendors. There is also a community park right on the river with lots of grass, picnic tables, basketball court, and playground. There is a binder in the cabin with activity brochures, hiking maps, and restaurant menus, along with other miscellaneous information about the area.
Lake Isabella is a fisherman's paradise with competitions happening regularly. Swimming, boating, jet skiing etc... There are jet skis and boats for rent at the dock.
The Pacific Crest Trail is right down the road. The Kern River Brewery is in town and has some amazing beer - try the Sequoia Red!My favorite hike to a small waterfall and slide rock is 20 minutes up the road. The Trail of 100 Giants is 30 minutes up the road, a must see if you have never seen the giant Sequoias. Alta Sierra, the local ski resort, is less than thirty minutes away and is very fun in the winter.
I am familiar with many hikes and unique things to do in the area and am more than happy to answer any questions. This has been a magical place for our family and we want our guests to love it too!

This property was terrific for our family! Very kid friendly with lots of toys and activities for kids to do both inside and outside. Very comfortable and spacious. Just be aware that the popular Sequoia National Park areas like General Sherman are 3 to 4 hours away.

Amazing beautiful house. ON THE RIVER!!! Located in a great spot to go either up to McNallys or down into Kernville. Will book again. A great stay!!!!

We always wanted to stay @ Lazy Crane. We always stay at the Sequoia Lodge next door and have seen the house over the years. We did enjoy our stay, location is great spot to enjoy the river. There were many amenities with a lot of space and there were also some issues with the non working ice maker and wine refrigerator. Upon our arrival my brother and his wife started unpacking and discovered dog/cat poop on the floor (owner could only say weird?) and the beginning of a rat/mouse nest in the dresser drawer (this is why I rated the cleanliness low). We could hear the rodent at night in the walls/ceiling at, we did realize we were basically in nature, and I reported it to the owner. The lock box was a little difficult to open and we actually found the house unlocked at the side door.
If you are traveling with adults only - the Tipi and bunks are located in a common loft area outside the 3 bedrooms, perfect for the younger visitors. We will always visit the Kern River, not sure if we will stay here, it was okay.

This is it, Book this house! Custom built property with so many bells and whistles I’m not sure we even discovered them all. The house is very well stocked with every kitchen utensil and toy a family could need. My girls especially enjoyed the Huge sleeping Tee-pee and dipping their toes in the river. My husband appreciated the tri-tip sandwiches at the general store/ cafe across the street. S’mores and fishing and reading a book curled up by the fire….. we will def be back! Also the host was super responsive and easy to plan with.

This is our home away from home! Always a blast with the family. We couldn’t say anymore great things about this home. Amazing view, clean, fun, cozy, full kitchen, games for the kids, full library, beach accessories to enjoy by the liver, list can go on and on….We will be back next year ♥️

The property was perfect for our group. Just a suggestion. The walking to the water was dangerous for us older people, probably due to the flooding. Thank you.

House right on the water. Beautiful

This was a beautiful home. Location is great! Right on the Kern river. Purchased some Tubes across the street and floated down the river. The house has wonderful upgrades and a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. There is a market walking distance that serves smoked tri- tip. The house is perfect for families.
I did have to initiate contact with manager the week before. She did respond promptly and made a nice recommendation of a local restaurant/ brewery.

Absolutely the best vacation home you will find in the area. We were a group of 12 and had everything we needed for an incredible 3 nights.
This is not your typical rental - it is a beautifully decorated and fully stocked home with plenty of room to spread out and relax.
The location can’t be beat. Right on the river with a sand beach literally as your back yard with amazing views.
We will be returning as soon as we can!

This beautiful home was perfect for our mixed group of 10 people. Beds and pillows were comfy, bathrooms and kitchen are luxurious. The patio was comfortable, even in the heat, with the sun shades and ceiling fans. Great river access! The owners were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again!

We booked months in advance.
Communication with the owner was OK, a couple times I didn’t receive responses, and I started getting nervous a couple days before the trip when I didn’t receive a welcome email. I called the owner, and she picked up the day before check-in.
The cabin is beautiful, and it’s well stocked. Our kids had a blast. The cabin has everything for young kids. The side of the house had swings. The BBQ is perfect. And we loved the teepee and toys to play with. The cabin is super close to the river!
We saw blue jays, river otter swimming in the river, and a deer walked by the back side of the cabin. So much wild life, we loved it!!
When we arrived, we smell cigarette smoke and found two butts on the ground outside under the swings, that was gross.
Unfortunately I got glass in my foot because glass candle sticks were placed in the bath towel cabinet. When I pulled the towel out, the candlestick fell and broke on the floor. I cleaned up the bathroom but a sliver of glass got into my heel, and that was frustrating and painful.
We brought tire floats, and the rental description says to pump them up across the street. Unfortunately the store worker was not very happy we came to pump our floats up without buying anything. We ended up purchasing from the store a couple times, but the initial experience was not enjoyable.
We couldn't get the fire pit to work, and the owner wasn’t quick to send help. I felt for the price we paid ($2400 for 3 nights, Sun-Wed), we should have received on-call handyman support.
Overall we loved this cabin and Kernville. And would love to return. Thank you!

This is our second time staying this year. It's in a great location with a convenient store right across the street. Not many houses have such access to the river out front which makes for relaxing afternoons in the water. I would most definitely stay again!

This spacious, clean and resort’esq had our family oohh and ahhhing over this location. Very clean house, excellent amenities like cooling, heated floors, adequate supply of towels, beach chairs. Well-stocked kitchen. The covered patio is overlooking the river. So peaceful, calming. We used the patio shade as a projector screen
to watch movie at night, we brought our projector. There are 2 masters bedroom, each with balcony overlooking the river. The house is very spacious. I highly recommend.

Our group of 8 women had a very nice stay. All beds were comfortable and the house was right on the river. We enjoyed river rafting from both kern river outfitters and renting tubes at the general store across the street and floating down to the park. Wonderful stay, thank you for having us! Would definitely come back. House is also very kid friendly if you plan to bring kids.

We had an absolutely sublime experience staying at the Lazy Crane. The location is incredible, just a short drive to town. The river right in the backyard is beautiful and the kids spent many hours playing there. The house is extremely well appointed, and views are gorgeous. We hope to return!

We loved staying in your cabin! It’s beautiful and very cozy. It’s nice and clean, beautifully decorated. The views are amazing! We would like to comeback more than once a year. Can we make a contract to come several times a year? Maybe get discounts? Thank you so much!
