An exceptionally interesting location on Over basin. Historical and very nice walk for the dog along the canal. Very clean. Bed comfortable and shower great. Food in restaurant excellent and very welcoming staff. Very dog friendly both in accommodation and in restaurant. Our dog ate with us in restaurant.
Odd not having a host and just a key code. Nespresso machine didn’t work and no one to tell. Outdoor bar seating area just below us as we were on first floor. So during day aware of people chatting nearby as weather set fair. Quiet enough at night as restaurant closed for orders 8:30. Walk into quays and central Gloucester marred by very fast roads and loud traffic noise.
4.1
Good accessibility to Gloucester by car.
View of River Severn.
It was a short walk to a Toby Inn as onsite pub closed.
Small fridge in room.
The room was cold, but despite the owner being responsive to this problem it wasn't resolved in time.
The bathroom extractor fan was not working, so lots of condensation.
Needs new pillows.
4.1
Modern and quirky accommodation on a riverside setting. Maybe too far from town centre for some but for us it was a lovely 40 minute stroll through the adjacent nature reserve.
The breakfast options were limited compared to others we've stayed in and it was strange that we only met one member of staff - who was very pleasant - during our two day stay.
4.1
Feels like it's out in countryside but it's only minutes from town. Easy to find and park. Good set up with separate access to rooms independent from bar area. Dog friendly with dishes and treats provided. Quality fit out in rooms and big bath. Room big enough for bed and sofa. Fridge too.
4.1
Room clean and comfortable.
Convenient location with pleasant outlook over woodland.
Plenty of parking.
A choice of fresh fruit and a continental style of breakfast would have been nice. However, Sam did supply fresh fruit on our second morning which was much appreciated.
4.1
location was interesting. The accommodation and bar -dinning area were cleverly combined in the one building. we enjoyed an excellent breakfast in May sunshine outside. A bit more garden tidying would help. Otherwise, a very nice, friendly, comfortable spot.
4.1
The location was good. The room was spacious.
We were charged £120 for a Monday night stay to include breakfast. Subsequently we learnt that breakfast wasn't available on Tuesday mornings. We asked for a reduction and received an email granting us a £20 reduction. We were nevertheless charged £120.
It was cold. The room thermostat wasn't operational. We found a fan heater in a cupboard which was able to raise the room temperature to a comfortable level.

There was nothing to not like here. The property is eye catching and inside was lovely too. It was so clean and smelt lovely. The manager was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We also liked the surroundings and will certainly come back.

easy access, lovely location and setting . clean room very comfortable
it is not a dislike as such because there is nothing to dislike it is more around signage , I relied on sat nav postcode hoping I would spot it. it is well hidden which makes it a little haven off a main road - but you have to be sharp eyed to spot the sign as the property is not visible from the road. I had to reset Sat Nav to the actual venue and trusted the directions. just a tip - to finding this great hidden spot

Breakfast was very good, staff happy and helpful.
The walls in the rooms seem quite thin? Could hear people whilst in the room and worried others could hear us.
4.1
personal approach from staff. all v informal. dogs top priority as any good dog owner would like. loved the doggie treat bag. staff v pleasant and accommodating
restaurant food was fresh, simple menu, well priced and extremely well cooked.
the noise from the little fridge in the bedroom was disturbing.
the carpets were quite stained but it's to be expected considering the area is right by river bank and most guests have dogs so that's a lot of muddy feet

Only that they had no space for dinner, but just a compliment to their great reputation & great food!

the room had everything you needed and the breakfast was really good.
noisy from the music playing in the pub until past 11pm.
4.1
Room, property location, staff that were there (2) helpful and very pleasant.
Very little staff, restaurant NOT open Saturday and Sunday evening, no breakfast available on Monday. No overnight staff and no response from contact number when there was a problem at 1 am Sunday morning.
4.1
Friendly helpful staff with good quality food on offer. Great location for walking into Gloucester and along the river Seven with an attractive water basin on the doorstep and a nearby nature reserve.
The start time of the breakfast service is quite late at 9:30 great if you are on holiday or have no time constraints not so good otherwise.
4.1
The location suited us because we enjoy walking.
Probably a good 30 minute walk to shops and restaurants.
we had the twin room which was the only room available.
The room was a bit warm ( think it might be above the kitchen )
Although a fan was kindly provided.

Breakfast was excellent.

Our room was spacious with a small fridge with milk and water in .had a bath and shower in the en-suite.large towels .bed was comfy with nice white linen.room had character, not bland like a lot of chain hotels.definitely quirky.breakfast was best we have had in accommodation for a long while.Katie who was our waitress for breakfast was really nice, friendly and helpful.
they ran out of coffee pods for the In room coffee machine…but it was replaced with a cafeteria with coffee in.thanks to Katie.Shame breakfast doesn’t start a bit early .9.30 is a bit late when you want to get out to do things.
4.1
Breakfast was excellent. Bed comfortable.
Coffee in room was missing….none available in the hotel!
Plug missing in sink …. No replacement in hotel.

Bar closed, no evening meal
4.1
room and location staff
road noise but didnt spoil stay needs couple comfy chairs on balcony but that didnt effect enjoyable stay plus excellent breakfast
4.1
Nice room in a convenient location. Breakfast only starts at 0930 which didn't work for me being on a work trip. However, staff communicated well and were responsive to my questions
Nespresso machine but no pods!
4.1
Location fine.
No apparent management apart from young staff trying their best. Most would be unsure if there was going to be food on in the evening if you were a walk in.Bar was shut at 9.45pm so would not give a resident a drink which was pretty poor.
4.1
Breakfast Was very nice but would be a lot better if it was opened at 8am as 9 30 am is late in the day as guests would like to be up and out to enjoy the day , Location was ideal for us
Staying open to 10pm came back one evening and it was all shut at 8 30pm breakfast too late in the morning 9 30am by time it took to cook its 10am ant the chef puts to much salt on food which soiled our evening meal as it was not edible beer kegs blocking access to disable toilet and the stairs
4.1
The drive up to the property is quiet and picturesque
as it’s off the main road surrounded by leafy trees; with
the river around the back.
After a tiresome and hectic day preparing
for a Wedding the next day, my family and I arrived
back The Mooring Post at 6.30pm on Friday evening.
With our hungry toddler in tow, we had planned to have
dinner at The Lock Keepers. The Assistant Manager
(Amy) came over to tell us that the restaurant was now
*closed* and we could only order dessert as the
Chef had already gone home! She suggested that
we go to Toby Carvery; that was approximately a
15 minute walk away. We went there, only to be that
it was fully booked, so had to walk all the way back
to the hotel (along a busy motorway) to get the car.
After enquiring at three other heaving restaurants
close-by, we managed to get table at a bar in order
to get something to eat; as it was already 9pm at
this point. When we got back to the hotel, the
water bottles in the mini fridge had not replenished
and this was not at all noticed during our three-day
stay! We are so upset by the lack of consideration for
patrons and complete disregard of guests’
basic needs.
4.1
Very central to Gloucester Quays and very helpful Staff Katie and Amy.
Really good room within reason.
The Bar area was very good and comfortable.
We noticed several things that need to be addressed.
1. The access to the main Stair way and the Disabled toilet were restricted due to FULL KEGS of beer being stored there NOT an ideal situation especially if during the night there was a fire emergency etc.
ALSO the fact that there isn't a Staff member on site during the night hours is disconcerting especially if there is an emergency.............?
2. On the first evening the meal was really good HOWEVER the chef in his wisdom had added far to much sea salt to the meal of two of our travelling companions and this was pointed out to the relevant staff.
3. All the potted plants spaced around the bar area were in need of TLC and regular watering.
4. We stayed in the Garden Room which is a lovely room BUT...
The Plug in the bath wouldn't work therefore UNABLE to enjoy a bath and we believe the Spar Bath wouldnt work, also our companions had a room up stairs and the Spar Bath didn't work.
5. On our final night on the 20th Aug we decided to try a meal elsewhere and enjoyed the meal with a view to returning to the Lock Keepers for a couple of drinks before retiring BUT on arrival back at 9pm knowing the Bar was due to close at 10pm WE were to say the least a bit pi#£ed off to find everything locked up and in darkness, and then finding out that the Staff had had permission to finish at 8.30pm due to no customers .....?
It is supposed to be a Hotel.........
4.1
Breakfast very good, but it is not served until 9.30!! This is no good if you have a day planned, so we missed one breakfast we had paid for.
I was expecting the “Riverside” location to be better. Garden was very run down and tatty.
Cups in room had not been washed up! Carpet dirty and stained.
The place is run by young people who were lovely, but obviously lack customer skills.
Poor range of beers and wine.
4.1
Quality of rooms and food
Breakfast was only available from 9.30
4.1
Breakfast very nice and very generous.
Staff were lovely.
Great location.
Highly recommend.
