Access to beach, well decorated, very friendly staff
Extremely overpriced bar and restaurant, I got food poisoning as well from the burger. Also the hotel is located in a narrow and dark road, with no curb side, which made our night walks to restaurants/convenience store a bit scary because you walk along the car lane with no light

Beautiful and rustic wooden hotel with excellent personnel! Felt treated like a princess, everyday…
The food was very good and one of the best around.

The rooms are nice and clean, location is great
Upon check-in, they require a $2000 MXN deposit incase you break anything in the room. Fine, we didn't think anything of it, although we've never heard or experienced this before in other hotels. Upon check-out (which is now 3,5 weeks ago), they unjustly charged the deposit instead of liberating it, eventhough I signed to get the deposit removed. When we got back home, Orchid house themselves contacted me saying they made a mistake and they will resolve it. I provided my bank account details as requested. Now, 3,5 weeks ago I still don't have the deposit back. Every other couple of days I have to send them a message myself asking for an update. All they do is say they are looking into it and have requested "proof" they have sent the money to me (which now almost 1 month ago and I still don't have it back). To be honest, making a mistake is human, but the way their administration handles it is extremely unprofessional.
The last thing I'd like to express my dissatisfaction for is also related to administration. On checkout, the restaurant had given themselves a $700 MXN tip on our restaurant bill (which is about the same amount of the bill itself as we only ordered once). This was on top of a tip I had already given them. We found out during checkout. Luckily, after I insisted, they removed the tip during checkout, but really this is not what you'd expect in a boutique hotel like this. I'm all for giving tips but this is just unprofessional. They also charged food to our room that we didn't order. The signature didn't even look like ours... Luckily they removed that too, but what a mess...

The rooms are lovely and it’s right on the beach
We weren’t told construction was happening during our stay - loud banging, drilling & power sanding could be heard all the way down to the beach (3/9 day I stayed there whilst trying to relax over breakfast.
Sewage issues were also a problem with smells coming into the room.

The location was amazing if you are after a beachside property and the food and cocktails in the restaurant was amazing - best margarita I had all holiday. Staff very helpful and friendly
Unfortunately Tulum has a very bad seaweed problem (we were there in Feb) which no hotel seemed to do much about to keep on top of including this one. It says it's adults only but the hotel allowed day passes some of which were families. No laundry service. Not sure it was very good value for money.

Stuff is very friendly. The area is good, a lot of restaurants and mini-supermarket within walking distance.
I don't even know where to start.
Water in shower is salty, really, like where is no way to brush the teeth with this water.
Electricity breaks like twice, thrice a day. Whole area is working on generators.
The breakfast that included it's just yogurt with granola, juice or coffee and some fruits. This is not worth the additional charge for "room with breakfast". Anyway we ate outside, because the adding omelet in the breakfast is really overpriced. You can eat in the city for 400 pesos for a couple in really good places.
Wi-fi is not working properly. This is might be a small issue if there were mobile service in the area, but the service almost doesn't work, thats why the WiFi is so critical.
And in the checkout process I've got a bill of tips. I really think that tipping the staff is necessary, but if the service was satisfying. And not get the bill of the tips. This was unexpected and unacceptable.
For the summary, there is definitely more comfortable and cheaper places to stay is Tulum. We just didn't checked properly, that's why this review is not so much.

Such an intimate and beautiful location, the complimentary breakfast made it easy to get our day started with a little something before we'd adventure Tulum. The price is high because this location is prime, as it's on the beach and close to many popular restaurants- BTW, check out Ukami, best restaurant in Tulum beach.
I wish it was more affordable so I could come back every year lol. We split our stay between here and a more affordable option (Jade Tulum) and clearly Orchid was better. It's up to the consumer to decide what amenities they feel they would prefer.
I wish I had an opportunity to use the outside plung tub but it was kinda dirty - I used the hammock a bunch tho!

everyone was so nice and helpful!
just the rolling black ours but it was short like less than a minute and I understand they share generators with other hotels

Good location and access to the beach.
Where to start? This property has the potential to be great but isn’t as advertised. The ad told us we had an all inclusive breakfast and inclusive mini bar - great we thought. However, upon arrival we were told the mini bar was chargeable and not included. For breakfast we were simply given a very small bowl of yoghurt, some cut up fruit, bread and a tiny amount of granola. My partner is celiac so couldn’t eat this. We asked whether we could change to something else like eggs, but the staff refused unless we paid extra. This is unfair given it’s a medical condition. We also asked staff to fix a lamp in the room that was broken upon arrival and to also place actual candles into the candle holders they had in the room - they failed to do either. We did note, however, that they provided candles to another apartment above us. We also asked one staff member for help in getting a taxi one evening and he wasn’t very helpful. Overall the staff’s attitude towards us was poor, which is in stark contrast to the reviews on here. The final straw was on checkout where they tried to charge us for a stained towel. I asked to see a picture for proof and what they had was a face wash cloth that simply had a face cleanser on and hadn’t been washed - so we had the charge removed. We can’t help but feel that they aren’t very fond of gay couples, hence the poor treatment we got. A real shame as the property itself is nice but the staff and their policies are extremely poor. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

the property was small and quaint, only 7 rooms which was nice because the staff knew us and were very attentive. the service was fantastic, the food was amazing, it was the perfect location and not too pricy for the area.
my only complaint is there was some construction they were doing on the property that was sometimes in the way or loud. but they did their best to mitigate the disturbance.

The room is was really nice and it's well situated near the beach.
Breakfast was good.
Staff were friendly and helpful for the most part.
The bar closed at 1800. As a result we started buying beers from the supermarket, one night we asked for some salt and lime and were told no because we hadn't bought at the bar. It's a $250 a night surely they could spare a lime and some salt.

This beautiful boho beach house was amazing! Newly renovated and stylish. The hotel is small which is just what we like and walking distance from other beach clubs that play loud music and have parties. This one is nice and low key. We had an incredible room with a pool. Walking distance to the GoMart and other stores and restaurants. Good parking area. Loved the menu at the restaurant and the continental breakfast which comes with the room. Great housekeeping. Loved the beach sun bed loungers.
The food sometimes arrived cold. Service could be a bit more attentive.

We had the best room available, right on the beach. Staff was beyond amazing. From the front desk personnel, to the staff at the bar on the beach, to the cleaning staff (even the guy who waters the trees and rakes out the sand on the path to the beach every morning)...every person working here is top notch, and all they care about is making you happy. I wish I could name them, but I forget names so easily. The 3 people I dealt with at the front desk...one guy and two ladies...were just awesome. More than helpful, attentive, and quick to reply to everything. There were also two beach staff guys...one was a shorter gentleman who brought our coffee and breakfast to our room every morning, and the other was a younger, taller guy with tattoos, who went out of his way to take care of us the entire 10 days we spent there. They all spoke perfect English, which helped us a lot. Over-all, again, we could not have asked for a better place to stay with such great people working there. Oh, and the food was amazing too!
The only thing I can think of that wasn't perfect, was the controls for our private hot tub upstairs. The button for the jets didn't work, but I'm a plumber, so I figured out that the plug just needed to be reset inside the control panel whenever we wanted to use it. And this was not even a big deal at all. It might be, for a non-plumber tho!
Otherwise, not even one complaint about anything. Absolutely amazing place to stay.

Lovely staff, great location and lovely room
The breakfast could have been bigger or just better explained regarding options but generally good.
The €150 deposit seems a bit pointless as you could just charge for damages after but overall a great stay
