Great apartment

The view was spectacular and the apartment was spacious, clean with a well equipped kitchen. The host provided excellent directions to the parking for the apartment which was appreciated.

Literally best place to stay in Porto

Love-love-love! The apartments are located in a super beautiful place, the view of the city is charming. The apartment itself is very cosy, bright and sunny, there is absolutely everything you need for a comfortable life, everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Right next to the apartment there is a lovely wine bar with a gorgeous view. We are especially delighted with the staff: we have travelled a lot, but this is the first time we have seen such attention to the guests. Elisabeth wrote to us a few days before our arrival and gave us detailed directions from the airport. We were met on site by the lovely Mrs Nilde, who spoke to us in detail about the apartment and the city and gave us lots of great recommendations on where to go and things to do in the city. We will definitely recommend Arco Apartments to our friends and will definitely come back again. Thank you 🤍

A wonderful place to stay in Porto!

Everything about our stay was fabulous! The view from our window of the bridge. The location in the Old Town. The kitchen facilities. An exceptional wine bar close by. And the wonderful communication and fashion advice from Nilde!

No washing facilities. Some people might find access difficult because of the steep steps to the apartment.

Superb

The apartment was exactly as was shown in the pictures and the view was exceptional. It is a little difficult to access the apartment since it’s located on a heritage site with no direct access to cars, but personally I don’t mind it, because we were given clear instructions on how to get there prior by our host and everything was nearby and walking distance from the apartment. I also really liked the extra effort our host made on welcoming us :)

This was the best place we stayed in Portugal. Would go back immediately!

The apartment was beautiful and located in a unique area where history was all around us but the apartment was modern and comfortable. You can see the river and the walking bridge and just a short walk to breathtaking views.

There are lots of stairs so be ready for a workout.

Fantastic apartment with great views and lovely host but beware the accessibility challenges!

Beautiful apartment with stunning views. Nicely laid out and with good facilities and comfortable beds. Host was excellent at communicating and trying to help us when the extra bed we had requested was forgotten.

Carrying bags up and down steps! You need to be aware that this is not a place to stay for those with mobility challenges as there are quite a few stone steps in either direction up or down from the apartment. Carrying all our suitcases was not fun at all. As lovely as the apartment was, had I realised the accessibility challenges I think I would have chosen differently.

The Arco Apartments are in a fabulous location and of generous size.

The location of the Arco Apartments is really good, close to the river bank (downtown) and close to uptown. There are many attractions to visit close by and it is also close to buses and trains. The apartments are situated just behind and down some steps from the Porto Cathedral (Se do Porto), the Museu do Vitral (stained glass museum) and the Bishop's residence, which are all attractions you can visit. As other reviewers have noted, the Apartments are accessed by stairs and it is necessary to carry your bags down the stairs. The communication by the hosts was excellent and they were there to greet me when I arrived. The apartment I stayed in did not have a view but had a little courtyard that let in a lot of light. During the excavation works required to build the apartment, some historic stone steps were uncovered and these were incorporated into the apartment behind glass in the very large bedroom. I read another review that mentioned there was a damp smell due to the stone but I did not notice any smell and the stone was wonderful at blocking any noise from people going up or down the stairs outside. The apartment was well equipped with a kitchen containing a large fridge and 2 air conditioners. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Arco Apartments and highly recommend them.

A marvellous place to experience the delights of Porto from

Our apartment had a stunning view of the Dom Luis 1 bridge and the waterfront of Porto. It was spotlessly clean and well laid out for our group of 3. Excellent air conditioning and pretty much every amenity you could want. The only thing that could have been added was a washing machine. Elizabeth and her staff were friendly, accessible and nothing was to much trouble. To add to this a wine bar had just opened a month ago right next door and we did try it several times!

Porto is a quite hilly town and you have to be prepared for quite a bit of climbing. This Di particularly the case in accessing Arco Apartments and they are a little way from restaurants.

Kept us healthy!!

The accommodation was good, and in the old part of the city, on a number of very steep sets of steps. If you are not fit, it is in a very hilly part of the city. We stayed in Santanna 3, and it was great but the bedroom was damp due the owner wanting us to keep the glazed section around the stone-work open. It had a slight smell too. Shower etc in need of retiling.

Two nights in wonderful Porto, sadly the accommodation dissapointed

The apartment is excellently located in the historic part of Porto, near to the cathedral and the famous bridge. It is actually built into the cliff side. The accommodation is on multiple levels and very quirky, with some exposed "old Porto" stonework visible behind feature glass panels. The apartment was clean and well equipped.

Taxis cannot get directly to the apartment, from the nearest drop off point you have to navigate quite a distance of cobbled pathways and then multiple uneven granite steps to reach the front door. Anything heavier than overnight bags is a serious and exhausting ordeal. The front door to the apartment is directly off the a main steep thoroughfare down to the riverside, to this end you cannot really open any window shutters to let natural light in as pedestrians tend to look in. Our biggest issue was noise from above late on into the evening up to midnight, after contacting Elizabeth she confirmed a wine bar (part of the Arco setup) was being set up for the coming Saturday, she did manage to get then noise stopped. From our understanding the wine bar will open in the daytime and close at 7.00pm. I personally would not want to stay beneath a functioning wine bar. Even though we got profuse apologies from Elizabeth and the wine bar manager we were disappointed in our choice of accommodation and we are not "moaners" by any measure.

Cool but damp location, fix the humidity or risk health problems

Very cool design, modern, clean (except for the tile walls and floor), centrally located.

Damp as a cave, AC needed to be replaced to better control the humidity because we ran the bath fan and ac each day, TV/cable never worked, kept insisting using WhatsApp for communication but I don’t have it and don’t want to, too cluttered (don’t need a coat rack and an umbrella stand AND so many tables, a little noisy with a lot of pedestrian traffic outside the door, coffee machine started leaking on last day? 1 roll of toilet paper. We waited for our host to arrive for 15-20 minutes, when we were told she’d be there already.

Exceptional

Location was superb, our surroundings were breathtaking, but it didn't come anywhere close to how beautifully gracious our hosts were! They made my boys and I feel like we were a part of their extended family. I have never met warmer people in the 50 years I have been on this earth. I am already looking at when we will return to stay at Arco Apartments. Just a cluster of blessings. Muito Obrigado
