The customer service was excellent and the staff were very serviceable. They helped us with additional requirements like getting us taxi's.
The WIFI was weak and failed to work on one of the days.

Great location within the city walls with optional parking. Nice pool area with bar service. Staff all very friendly.
Not great selection for breakfast. Rooms could do with some updating albeit they are very well priced. Despite these few negatives we would stay again!

Very friendly staff. Large comfortable bedroom with an excellent shower and a small terrace overlooking an attractive swimming pool area. Good location, just inside the city walls and a little more than 5 minutes walk to the main Piazza.
Although we had two wardrobes, one was filled with excess bedclothes and there were no drawers in which to store underwear and casual clothes. Car parking was a bit expensive at 15 Euros per day.

Central location. Some staff helpful.
This is not the standard of a normal 4 star hotel. Tiny rooms, minuscule bathrooms, antiquated plumbing, very hard beds.

Prior to arrival communication with the hotel was excellent. This included them sending full details for access to the car park as the hotel is located within the Volterra ZTL. The car park is adjacent to the hotel.
A friendly welcome on arrival. We were expected and as all paperwork was available so we were in our room within a short period of time. As the hotel was a Convent the rooms have been built within the original nuns cells, with each having the name of a nun on the wall next to the door. A nice touch.
We were upgraded to a lovely room overlooking the swimming pool and the Tuscan hills. The room was clean and well equipped, including a safe, a kettle with tea (no coffee?) and a comfy bed. The bathroom was bright and clean and the excellent shower had good pressure and almost instant hot water.
Breakfast could not have been better with a wide range of plentiful delights available, including fresh coffee made to order. So much better than from a machine.
Location is perfect with the hotel being located on one of the ancient streets into the city. The main square, with its wonderful architecture, is a 10min stroll.
All of the hotel staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful.
It will definitely be our place of choice to stay when we next visit Volterra.
We cannot think of anything negative about our recent stay.

The hotel is located in a historic building, in the center of the village. Tastefully and comfortably furnished. The room facing the courtyard is quiet. In the inner courtyard a small pool. Breakfast was good. Large selection of sweet dishes. There was no problem with storing the bikes and charging the battery.

Reception always very welcoming and helpful. Really amazing spread for breakfast, hot showers, comfy bed and no traffic noise.

Location can't be better when looking for a modern hotel in a medieval city... Volterra is a town like a movie set, and I would choose this hotel (with the garage for sure!) again at our next visit.

Great little gem, just inside the city walls. Swimming pool a big bonus, we took a quick refreshing dip after a long drive, ready to see this lovely little town. Breakfast was very good, outside in the shade in the liþle courtyard, with fresh coffee. Staff was very friendly, made our stay perfect! We will be back.

The hotel and the inner yard with the pool were beautiful, a perfect place to stay in Volterra!
The breakfast could have had more fresh bread, fruit and vegetables

great location, very clean, beautiful pool.
the shower base was slippery and would benefit by having a grab rail.

We loved the rustic atmosphere, it's an old hotel within the walls of Volterra with much history itself, once being a nunnery.
Whilst the facilities are basic it totally is what you would expect in such a location. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast - not much hot food but when its 37C outside, cold cuts and cheeses are better!
It helps that they had parking very close by and a lift within the building.
The Italian people are lovely, accommodating and helpful -we could not fault a thing about our stay in San Lino Hotel and Volterra and we would recommend San Lino to anyone who wants to experience ancient Italy at its best!
I wouldn't say I didn't like it but we have a big hill to climb up to get into the town square but that again is the charm of Volterra but for those with mobility problems, or parents pushing buggies, this could be difficult.

i forgot to the that it was almost impossible to lock with the key from the outside. From the inside was 100% impossible
