The hotel is located in the heart of old town of Tangier, thus you're in a walking distance from virtually anything of interest within the city. I picked this hotel because of its historic importance (Churchill once stayed there, etc.), and indeed, the hotel has beautiful interiors. If you are lucky and get the room with the view - great view, if not lucky - the view is not great at all.
The staff was nice and friendly, we got a decent dinner on the day of arrival.
Unfortunately, beyond historic atmosphere and nice location there were very few positives about this hotel.
1. There were interruptions with hot water provision (though mostly in the hours of sleep / midday)
2. Breakfast was, unfortunately, of very low quality - I would suggest partnering with a bakery and get good pastries sorted, then replace coffee with a better one and maybe reduce the hot dishes to eggs and sausages, but again, make good ones.
3. Sound-proof is virtually non-existent, I didn't sleep well because of it.
4. the WIFI didn't quite work
5. For some strange reason, this hotel does not serve alcohol (albeit Morocco is a wine-producing country, and I would imagine that in the times of Churchill the service at this hotel was a little bit more...advanced).

Location was great, breakfast was good, view was awesome
The hotel doesn't have an elevator/lift and we took the stairs with our luggage which was really exhausting. Even Taxi do not drop you till the hotel reception/entrance, so you need to take additional 2 floors walk/stairs with your luggage. Also please don't go to the hotel before check-in time otherwise you need to wait in the waiting area till the room is ready. The hotel didn't confirm our early check-in request by email so we were bit early for check-in and have to wait almost one and half hour for the room. While booking we were offered one full bed and one twin bed but we were offered 3 single beds. The view and location was good.

Nothing
When we arrived the receptionist looked for our reservation, they discovered that they hadn't reserved a room for us, they refused to give us a room reserved for someone else who probably wouldn't come, knowing that I had booked since March 17, perhaps because we spoke Arabic and priority goes to the white!
They said that they would give us a better room, but it was a cheaper room and didn't meet any of the features of the room I had booked, it had 3 small beds instead of one large one, and ordinary, undecorated furniture. It didn't have a view, neither of the sea nor the city, but of the inner courtyard of the hotel, which contains thrown furniture
We went back to the reception and told them, they said it is not our job to give you what is written in the reservation!!?! They tried to fool us, but I was confident in what I did and how I booked. I spent 3 hours searching for the best hotel because I had invited my best friend to a concert.
In the end, they decided to give us a room that was supposed to have the same features. When we entered it, we found the furniture in a miserable condition, almost all the handles were broken, a phone was placed in one of the drawers, and many problems with the furniture, and on top of that, the Wi-Fi signal never reached the room, we had to use mobile data.
The next morning at breakfast, apart from the old, broken, and not clean utensils, the employee responsible for organizing breakfast was very rude to us, when my friend wanted a new empty coffee cup, the employee disrespectfully said to him, “Why don’t you use your cup?!” my friend had to make an excuse. The employee started shouting and asked another employee to give him a cup.

Forse sarebbe utile potenziare WIFI

The location is amazing
- the people never answer to your inquiries before arrival.
- I got a room without windows and so different from what I booked and they said that’s the only available option. Though I booked way before.
- the breakfast is not varied and everything finishes early even if the breakfast time is still open.
- people in the reception are so helpful and not so friendly.

Beautiful views of the sea, excellent location in the Medina, wonderful historic ambience, attentive staff. Easy to walk throughout Medina and to Kasbah, restaurants nearby, wonderful hotel breakfast. The FRS Ferry terminal is right across the street, walkable distance.
Be prepared to climb stairs, no elevator. But the stunning views are worth it.

The hotel is in a grand, historic building very close to the port. It is beautifully tiled and has a terrace with a great view. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and it was quiet despite a music festival just outside.
The only real issue was the lack of wifi reception in our room.

Worst hotel I have come across,I will never suggest any one to go to this hotel very dangerous entrance also brake fast after charging £120 is shame health and safety zero total nightmare
No possibility

Breakfast is good but location without escalator very very bad
I like everything but the location without escalator

The view was amazing, and the hotel was very authentic.
The staff was amazing and polite, but there was one woman who was very rude and yelled at you if you asked a question. She was Moroccan and worked there. Try to avoid her because she is very rude and will ruin your whole day.
3.6
Amazing location. Excellent room.
2 single beds put together rather than a double bed.
3.6
Very close to the port, great location. Staff was supportive to show around the way. The room has what you need for one night.
The room and bathroom although clean had a typical stink. Tooo many stairs to walk up with the luggage and no escalators or lifts. Wifi was poor /slow in the room.
3.6
Good location, but a bit of a trek up the steps. The bellhop was great.
Definitely needs some attention
3.6
Wonderful location and beautiful exterior
Hot water only morning and evening, a quite disgusting breakfast, outdated interior, falling apart, disinterested management.
3.6
My room was on harbour side, view was amazing. There was hot water in the shower at times that were written at reception. Old Medina is just few steps from the hotel.
Go to the breakfast early, otherwise you might find some food finished and there's no refills.
3.6
Quirky decor, friendly and very helpful staff.
Difficult getting hot water.
3.6
Location is excellent, next to a very nice port area and a square with lot of openness. The hotel itself is a great historic site and has been around since 1870. The decor was very nice. The breakfast was good (however repetitive). It is in Madina with great experience of Moroccan culture. Several food places nearby and staff can help to locate it- although the narrow madina streets could be confusing so go around with someone or during day time with GPS
The room amenities were minimal with only TV in the room. The safe was non functional. Bathroom was ok but bit outdated

Amazing location!! great view out of the room and everything is in walking distance! the building itself is super antique and its a nice historical experiece
Blankets are old wool blankets, overall the hotel is a bit „old“
3.6
Breakfast was pretty good, room was spare but comfortable. Good price for what you get. You can walk straight out the door to the ferry terminal, or up the hill into the small medina.
Clearly a bare-bones operation hardly keeping the lights on. Bring your own shampoo. Don't stay here if you have mobility issues, since you need to walk up several flights of stairs just to get to the lobby.
3.6
Come for the history (and the view over the bay), stay for the hospitality. Ideally located for the medina and the ferry terminal, climbing the stairs of this hotel you can’t help but think of all the famous people who have done the same. The local cuisine in the restaurant is excellent too.
The location comes at the expense of quiet. There is a square below and a very busy road between the hotel and the bay.
3.6
We chose the hotel because it's a living part of Tangiers history and we were not disappointed by its old era charm. Beautiful cafeteria and terrace with a view of the port, excellent location.
It was a great stay for us but travellers expecting a luxurious hotel will be disappointed. Also, elderly travellers / travellers with limited mobility are advised to book elsewhere as the hotel lacks accessibility (no easy street access, no lift)
3.6
Convenient location closed to ferry. There are some steps accessing on foot. I had no problem with a small suitcase in a pleasant day. Room is bit dated but comfortable and it has a nice ocean view. The hotel still keep its historical charm, public area feel like a museum.
3.6
The hotel is well located next to medina and close to port.
The views are great over the harbour.
Plenty of character and good value.
Breakfast was simple but good.
No lifts for 4 storeys and you have to come up 4 storeys from taxi level. This would exclude many people from considering this hotel.
Plenty of character but has a few rough edges. Eg. Flushing the toilet from the 4th floor creates a deafening gurgling sound as the water slowly sloshes through the pipes of the floors below.
Hot water not available during afternoon.
Not sure if history should retained or just get a hotel chain to bulldoze the place and start again. Despite this, I would stay here again.

Perfect location, best place you can be in tangier. Close to everything. Staff booked us a great trip to cheufchauen.
Hot water at limited time is not perfect. Breakfast could be better.
