The village was quiet. The house was easy to get to. It was right next to a system of trails that were fun to hike each day. The carry-away breakfast basket was good. The air conditioners/heaters work very well. Check-in and out are easy and efficient. Staff is helpful if you need anything. Nice courtyard and cute little lawn area. Bedrooms were cozy and the internet worked well.
A lot of things in the Stone Forest house were broken. Many of the screens, windows and doors need to be fixed. The kitchen is very small. The main living area; you can smell the bathroom most of the time. It stinks. The weekend we went was very cold but we were not allowed to have a fire. I've stayed at a few other houses at Brickyard that were great, but not this one.

staff was great
we were there for a relaxing holiday and there were several families with small kids that were allowed to run around screaming loudly throughout breakfast and dinner.

Great location, close to the wall, about one hour hike uphill to the wall it is possible to go in the wild wall and explore. Also a small taxi or bus ride to the oficial Mutianyu wall entrance.
Great facilities and excellent food in the restaurant.
A bit overpriced, a one time only experience.

We had a great stay at Brickyard! The whole terrain is rustic but beautifully designed with a view on Mutianyu Great Wall. We loved the cute breakfast buffet (some warm vegetables/eggs/meat, salad, fruit, yoghurt/cereals, bread/jam). The rooms and amenities were all clean. It was handy to have come by car, but you can also walk to the valley station of Mutianyu from where you have to take a shuttle bus. There are several restaurants and simple small shops within 1km from the hotel. Staff was super friendly, helpful and English speaking. Perfect location for a little getaway from Beijing.

The facilities were great and very cute. We enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace in the living room and the location in general. Breakfast was given to us in a basket. However, it would be nice to be able to go to the restaurant and enjoy a hot breakfast.
Th fire place in the bedroom did not work in the Mumanyu villa. All the smoke blew back into the room and there was smoke everywhere because of it.

Easy to get to. Very warm house for January stay. Rustic but modern.

comfortable, great location, great fox winter visit due to internal fire, external grilling, and is a good size for 4 people, would also be nice in spring/summer due to good outdoor space
kitchen facilities a little sparse so need to be aware in advance

Neat, very stylish and comfortable
Good location with nice views and garden. Very nice service

Very large space with good outdoor area. Very safe and close to Mutianyu. Lots of local restaurants around with good food, Easy to get taxis to other areas if needed
Breakfast was very simple and too much bread, based on my previous stays expected more options, some construction work nearby but not too disruptive

Very beautiful space, nicely decorated, great location close to the Mutianuy section of the Great Wall. It is really amazing to have the view on the mountain from the rooms. The Sansa restaurant (located just outside of the hotel) is delicious.
I would have liked some more facilities for children. When asking a staff member about children playground (mentioned in the description) we were just pointed to the garden/courtyard which only has a grass area and some chairs. There is also a "hot spring" outside bath but it looked a bit dirty. I still recommend it for families since it's very easy to get to the wall where children can have fun on the slide.

We stayed in Mumanyu for two nights. It’s an awesome villa suiting for 8 people and is very stylish and spacious. 3 of the for bedrooms have a bathroom en-suite, the forth bedroom (with a kang bed) has the bathroom just aside. Everything was clean and neat
The kitchen is quite small for a villa for 8 people and the fridge is also too small. We brought food for a BBQ with us. The storage of that was challenging. A few sharp knifes would also be fine. Also challenging are the mosquito doors which are luckily installed everywhere. You can’t hardly open them from outside. We very often needed someone to open from the other side ;)

We’ve been to The Brickyard before and have also stayed at the Big Rock House before. The great thing is that dogs are allowed at the houses belonging to The Brickyard. The Big Rock House is absolutely stunning. Originally an old farmhouse it has been extended with steel work and glass into an absolute gem. The garden is nicely planted and there is even a gas barbecue available. The staff is absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful
The breakfast which you get in a basket is absolutely a shame. It’s a small cube of butter (we were 4 adults), 2 mini glasses of jam, some bread and yogurt, juice and cupcakes. If you want to have a proper breakfast - bring is with you! There are no cold cuts, cheese or eggs. Although the home is laid out for 6-7 people there isn’t enough tableware and cutlery available, e.g. there are only five of the same looking plates and only two bowls there and there’s only cutlery for five people. All tableware and cutlery is randomly thrown together. The curtains in the bedrooms are old and it’s impossible to draw them close because they’re not broad enough. The mounting is sagging. The rain shower head in the bathroom is scaled and it’s almost impossible to become wet. The rug in front of the shower is absolutely insanitary and should be replaced with replaceable terry towels. The whole house is a bit out of time and needs a little care. When we asked for a parasol for the terrace we had been told that there was one but that it’s broken. Don’t get me wrong, the house is really super but the value of money is not consistent. For the demanded room rate per night you can easily stay in a 5 star resort hotel. But anyway, we will certainly go there again.

We have been going to the Brickyard once or twice a year for the past 5 years. The properties are amazing, food is exceptional, location is great for exploring the Mutianyu section of the Wall, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. This was our first time visiting since having a baby and they were very accommodating with items like high chairs and portable cribs. They have undergone new ownership recently so there are a few changes around the property but we really hope they plan to keep its charm, quaintness, and rustic feel.
It’s always pricey - but definitely worth it. The breakfast basket provided for the homes is very carb-heavy (muffins, a baguette, and 2 loaves of bread)...would be nice to have some fresh fruit and/or eggs.
