We had a fantastic time. We rented the pontoon. Did a little swimming and fishing off the pontoon. We used the included kayaks and paddleboard daily. They had a great sanded area where my granddaughter (2 1/2) played and built sandcastles. We rented another home about a mile away so we had a total of 18 people in and out. We played volleyball as there is a official net set up. My only complaint, the ball needed more air and we didn't have a needle. There is a pool table which we did not use but we did use the ping pong table for a little beer pong. We had a Hawaiian Luah one evening and the two tables on the back patio accommodated all of us. Close to downtown Frankfort. We golfed at Crystal Mountain. Visited two breweries and 1 distillery close by. Hikes Sleeping Bear Dunes. My husband and son road their bikes on the tart trail from Traverse City to Sutton Bay and back. We had a tour bus come and pick us up and we went to a couple wineries in Sutton Bay. We just alll around enjoyed ourselves. We always had dinners at the house. Never went out. Now, Jeff and Larry we need to talk your wives into renting us your home too, lol, and hopefully, a great combined price for both homes and pontoon.

We are a large family of varying ages. This is the perfect place for everyone! Jeff was the perfect host and easily accessible. The layout of the 3 living areas was perfect, as the loft was great for all-our kids. We rented the pontoon and it worked great. This property is so close to so many things and works well for large groups. We all agreed it is one of the nicest places we have ever rented!

Our grandchildren enjoyed playing in the sand, going fishing, having camp fires, kayaking and playing in the big yard.

We had an eventful weekend.
There were a couple issues that Jeff responded to immediately and was so pleasant and kind even during a 3:30am phone call. 😬
We can see how ideal this would be for summer months for a large or extended family week.

We were very comfortable, we had all we needed to enjoy our stay and would highly recommend to others

Beautiful outside area with kayaks, fire pit and lovely water view. We enjoyed the spectacular views even with some rainy weather. We even saw a rainbow over the water. The small town restaurants were quaint and delicious. Fun trip!

This is a great lakefront property with room for a large group. We only had 3 so we didn't use the extra space but can easily accommodate 2-3 families with small children or teens. Jeff has a great indoor hangout spot with a pool table as well as 6 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, a small beach where you can easily launch kayaks, a dock, 3 picnic tables, and a nice firepit with seating for 8+. Basically anything you'd want for a lakefront cabin with activities at your fingertips. The rental description is accurate. There was a portable AC unit in one of the upper rooms that did well for us. I expect it keeps the entire area upstairs cool if needed but it was mid 60's-70's during our stay mid-September. We would be happy to rent again.

Jeff was an amazing host - so helpful!

Perfect spot on big platte - water was great temp in september, lakebed was quite sandy. Great location to get to the Honor family market if needed and plenty of other activities (drive in, gold, etc.) near by.

This house was large enough for myself and my 3 kids and their families , 7 adults and 3 children
We all had our own bedrooms and space. Plenty to do. We enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and pontoon boat. We went fishing, enjoyed the large yard, pool table and fire pit. We’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful grounds. The outdoor space is absolutely perfect for large groups. Beach is sandy and clear. We would recommend this property to anyone. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Fire pit and chairs are top notch.

Great lake house!
We loved our time at Platte Lake Lodge and even added another night to our stay! Jeff was a great host and very responsive. There was ample room to space out, with multiple sleeping quarters and plenty of beds, which was really nice and comforting during these times. We used the fire-pit nightly and enjoyed our coffee in the morning sitting out by the lake. Enjoyed the kayaks and made use of the pool table the one day it rained; we spent our last day discussing when we could come back and do it all again!

Platte Lake Lodge
Nice place. Tons of room for our family. Pontoon rental was great, fished every morning with my dad and brother. Also nice to take the family on a cruise and jump in the lake. Both Jeffrey and Trent were very responsive to any request we had.

Just what the Dr ordered
Great week on a quiet lake. The property has everything you need for fun, fishing and relaxation. Kept our group of 10 ranging in age from 21-55 busy enjoying the lake and outdoors. Greeted by Jeff and he was on hand to help with any questions.

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay and are still talking about the unforgettable sunsets and late night stargazing sitting by the fire. The lake is absolutely perfect with crystal clear water. The cabin is a typical rustic lake house with a great coffee pot! Jeff and his family make it easy to stay here.
For those that are interested in the details, I'll share a few helpful details.
Cabin - rustic and lived in but clean. The kitchen has all of the appliances, pots/pans that you'll need. If you like to cook, I'd recommend bringing spices, oils, etc. There is not much there beyond utensils. Charcoal grill available.
There are plenty of good quality beds in the three places. We thought it might be odd but we found the loft to be an outstanding option for our teenagers. It felt very safe and they were thrilled to have their own space.
There are two full bathrooms in the main house that both include showers. There is plenty of storage cubbies and towels. Bring outdoor towels.
TVs - in the main house there is a large screen with cable and in the loft there is another large screen TV with Netflix options, smart tv.
Lake & Outdoor area is absolutely phenomenal. This property has so much frontage space to make you incredibly comfortable, private, and enjoyable. You'll never want or need to be inside. Swim, kayak, paddle, or fish - it's all very easy and accessible. They provide numerous kayaks and a couple of SUPs. The access and entrance to the water is unbelievably easy and very soft sand bottom. Water shoes aren't necessary although my kids generally wore them. Great for kids. Huge side yard with volleyball net. Nice size fire pit in the yard overlooking the lake - perfect to take in the sunset and also to stick around and watch for stars into the night. Amazing clear skies - known for Ursa Major sightings. If you can get up around 6am, the sunrise was stunning as well.
The area is pretty quiet. 5 minutes to groceries and a few local restaurants. Check out the Manitou if you're seeking fine dining (worth it). Frankfort is a 15 min ride and offers shopping, restaurants, etc. Traverse was about 30 minutes. If you like to run or bike, be sure to check out the Betsy Valley Trail that offers a 23 mile loop that you can pick up 5 minutes from the cabin.

Fantastic getaway!
This was the perfect getaway for our group. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was perfect to have multiple places to sleep, everyone had a bed which is hard to come by with a larger group, the grounds & water craft were perfect! We look forward to coming back again in years to come!

Wonderful Family Vacation
Our family stayed at the Platte Lake Lodge for a week's vacation to celebrate several Milestone Birthdays. We had 3 generations and 4 families staying at the lodge and everyone enjoyed the stay with all of the extra space the house offered. No one felt "on top" of anyone else.
The location is perfect, the amenities were great and Jeff was a superb host. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a laid back, fun vacation destination.

Perfect Rental for Extended Families
The owner Jeff was easy to work with and very accommodating.
The property was clean and ready for our week by the time we arrived. Jeff met us there himself and provided a full tour of the property and everything that was available for our use.
We vacationed with our children and their families which included three little ones ages 5 and under. The property contained everything we had hoped for that was included in Jeff's description. We made use of the kayaks, standing paddle board, volleyball court and fire pit. We added on the pontoon rental after we arrived so we could enjoy some fishing from the middle of the lake, along with leisurely boating around the water. On one rainy day, we spent time shooting pool on the billiards table in the garage.
The small sandy area at the waterfront was the perfect size for our small boys who loved to play in the sand for hours at a time.
The lake water was clean and refreshing. Water shoes are a plus for swimming and kayaking.
While there was no air conditioning, we had plenty of windows which we'd open to provide a nice cross breeze (we went the end of June so the weather was cooler).
On the one occasion that we needed to reach the owner, he responded to us right away.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to vacation at this rental again in the future.

This was our first time at the lodge. Our entire family went, 3 generations, for a total of 16 people. Plus, we had 4 more people come for a couple of days and we had plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably! It was also nice to have seperate areas for people. The property was perfect for us. Plenty of yard space for kick ball and wiffle ball games. Used Jeff's boat to do some fishing on the lake which worked out perfectly. Jeff was a perfect host and very helpful. It's a beautiful location with lots to do in the area. The kids range in age from 2-12 and they all had so much fun they asked if we could go back next year! Yes, we would definetly go back!!!

My husband & I spent our summers as kids "Up North" and we wanted to begin that tradition with our daughter as well. There is something magical about the Northwest corner of the state. We spent the week just after the 4th of July weekend at the Platte Lake Lodge & Jeff was a fantastic host.
The Cabin & Amenities:
Jeff has done a fantastic job with the property and developed three separate living structures. We referred to them as the main house , the loft and the guest house. Our daughter had a blast sleeping in each of them!
The main house is nicely decorated and appointed and has amazing views of the lake from the "Florida Room" and each of the bedrooms. The kitchen and bathrooms have recently been remodeled and are very nice. We made good use of the Circulon pots and pans! ( Nice touch Jeff!).
The loft is nicely decorated and sits above the huge three car garage. It can easily .. and very comfortably sleep 6 people. It also has a huge TV with cable which our daughter loved. I think she actually slept on a different bed each night.
What we referred to as the "guest house" looked like it may have been the original garage and has been beautifully renovated into what may be the nicest sleeping quarters on the property. Plenty of windows, great airflow, great wood flooring and nicely decorated. It greatly exceeded our expectations. And yup ... our daughter slept here too!
The Outdoor Space:
My mother came up to Platte Lake Lodge for a couple days as well and we made great use of the pristine outdoor space. Frome the stone fire pit to the outdoor furniture , volleyball court, beach area and dock, this was where we spent most of our time. In the evenings it was sunsets & wine over a roaring fire and of course s'mores & hobo pies. I think we were outside around the campfire every night till well past midnight. It was magical.
The Lake:
Before moving out of Michigan 15 years ago, I spent a lot of time in this area of Michigan. I have been on Crystal & Glen lakes, but never Big Platte Lake ... I was missing out. The lake is perfectly sized and has a variety of habitats. There is a nature preserve on the Southeast side of the lake where the water is calm, clear and maybe 4-5 feet deep . It was a perfect place to go birding, turtle catching and just generally take in nature.
I'd write more but VRBO won't let me lol! Bottom line .. we would absolutely recommend!

Lake Life and Golf!
This beautiful lakeside setting is spacious, relaxing and fun-filled. The convenient location to golf, great lakes (Great Lakes!) and natural beauty is tremendous. We played lots of golf at spectacular courses - best in the state - within 30 minutes of the lodge.
Please reserve me a month next time!

My wife and I visited the Platte Lake Lodge this Labor day, with our twin infant boys and small dog.
The owner was very accomodating, and made our stay very pleasant. The cottage was clean, and would be a great esacape for families as there are so many different activities to take in.
We bbq'd a few times, and headed into town which was very close by (you have a few choices in either direction). We made time, taking turns, to use the owners Kayak's and ventured out into the lake. The cottage has a firm sandy bottom, and the water was crystal clear.
Thanks Jeff for a great visit, and we will be back in touch when the boys get older.

we have a family group of 18 that stayed in Platte Lake lodge and it was wonderful. Property was in great shape and it supported all of our activities including French Darts and Bocce Ball. The firepits were great at night. we brought with us a speed boat, pontoon boat and 2 wave runners that were kept right at water's edge. great sunsets and millions of stars at night. We had a great time, probably the best in 30 years of coming to Platte Lake.
Thanks Jeff.

Fun-filled Cabin by the Lake
The cabin, loft, and bunk house were just what we needed for our Graduation Party! We were celebrating the graduation of "our boy" from Interlochen Arts Academy (IAA). The girls (teens/twenty-somethings) stayed in the loft, the boys (teen/twenty-something) slept in the front room, the "benefactors" (older ladies) slept upstairs, and our auntie who underwent knee surgery a few weeks prior stayed in the bunk house with her husband, daughter, and grandson (no stairs, easier access). Since everyone got up at different times and had different plans - kayaking, paddleboating, sunbathing, swimming, going to Sleeping Bear Dunes, touring local sites, and various IAA events - the bathrooms worked out great. Every evening after our excursions, we came back together for dinner, then we'd make s'mores by the fire pit and watch beautiful sunsets. Jeff (owner) even brought over more towels when the kids used them as beach towels. Fantastic weekend!

Great 4th of July Week!
We spent a fantastic 4th of July week at the Platte Lake Lodge. Jeff was an exceptional host. The property exceeded all our expectations. The furnishings (especially the beds) were comfortable and perfect for relaxing after a long day kayaking on Platte Lake, tubing on the river or going to the beach at Lake Michigan (which is such short drive away). The kitchen is well equipped and had every dish/pot/pan that we could need though we loved using the charcoal barbeque too. The ceiling fans kept all the rooms cool in spite of the high temperatures. The outdoor setup is even better. The fire pit is truly fantastic and the log furniture is comfortable. I would recommend the Platte Lake Lodge to everyone! A must-see!

Wonderful Family Vacation
The Platte Lake Lodge was perfect for our summer family vacation. The separate buildings (lodge, loft & bunkhouse) worked extremely well for accommodating our family's various needs. (8 adults, 3 children and 1 dog) The "extras" (fire pit, wooden lawn furniture, boat hoist, kayaks) included in this rental were greatly appreciated and used daily. As were the two bathrooms. Jeff was very friendly and helpful - a wonderful host. And upon our arrival, how nice it was to see that the pictures posted on his vrbo listing were truly what you got! This is a beautiful place to spend time with loved ones.
