Amazing location, the venue is right at the start of the most beautiful hikes.
Interior is dated, however the bedding is pristine clean and comfortable - all that's needed after long walks.

The pub and flats are 10 min walk from Edale station.
The flat is warm and cosy, with a good kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.
The food in the pub is excellent, and the farm cafe does amazing fried breakfasts.
We will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely stay over a very snowy weekend. Great location, near the station and lots of lovely walks. The cottage is cosy but clean. Thanks for having us!

The location was awesome. Great if you want to hike in the area but want to be away from some of the crowded areas of the Peak District. Loved that I could walk out of the door and be on a trail in a couple of minutes.
Somehow I think I was staying there through a transition of management and restaurant was closed and I never got wifi. The room had lots of space but was not very updated and I never got any soap or room attention. Great to have your own kitchen bc there was only one restaurant open in the town.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, very good food.
The cottage deserves more attention, housekeeping. Dirty dishes and cutlery in the cupboard, broken radiators and outdated carpets.

Wonderful location
Rude, surly, unwelcoming staff; Extreme mould on bathroom walls and in shower tray; Dirty tables in pub/restaurant strewn with used plates and glasses that weren't cleared for hours.

The staff we really helpful. The location is great for hiking just between Kinder Scout and Mam Tor, not to mention the train station is about 10mins walk away to go to either Manchester or Sheffield.
The cottage is actually a flat above the kitchen at the rear of the pub/property with the car park on the side and the pub garden behind/by the front entrance to the flat.
This means the flat can get very warm in the afternoon if the kitchen is busy and can get loud as well due to the kitchen /car park and pub garden.
Beyond that the property is in need of fresh decor there are a number of broken items in the property including a bin with no bucket so anything put in it just lands on the floor. There was also a lack of toiletries on arrival with neither loo roll or hand soap in the property.

straight out the cottage door to walk, enjoy a beer in the pub garden or eat a tasty meal in the pub. friendly staff. parking at the pub a bonus.

Location was good
Shop and cafe in the village very good
Food in pub was good
The young men were pleasant.
Being misled by false description of 'cottage' - the accommodation was up steep stairs to a poky flat and not a cottage. The description 'wonderful views' was not true, there was a glimpse of hill from one room and the rest overlooked car park and bin area.
The bedroom was so small you had to squeeze through a 6"gap to get out round the bed.
The shower was dangerous - the water scalding without notice
Rubbish from the previous tenant was in the bin and filthy wet cloth in the sink.

The location was fabulous. Being able to complete iconic walks from the front door.
the bathroom was very tired. The shower doors did not shut properly. there was mould and it needed a deep clean. The fridge needed a deep clean as it smelt of old fish!

Great location. Friendly owners in pub. Squirrel in loft dealt with same day.
Small bedroom uninhabitable. Bathroom dirty. Fridge dirty. Mould in bathroom. Draft through front door

we stayed in beautiful little cottage, kinder cottage which is a part of The Old Nags Head. The cottage had everything we needed, was in an idillic setting and the staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.
we loved everything about our stay we just felt a small welcome package of local milk, cheese and eggs would of been a lovely added touch.

Would book there again

One of the beds was broken

You could feel lots of humidity and mould inside the place
You could hear the music from the pub until 11pm

Nice quiet cottage. Had everything we needed and great location for walking.
Some things not cleaned to high standards ie cooker. Bathroom decor a little tired.

Fantastic stay and right in the heart of the peak district, we will definitely be returning for more walks during the Spring/Summer. Staff we incredibly helpful and the Nag's Head Pub itself had a warm friendly atmosphere that was perfect for a drink after a long walk.
There wasn't anything we didn't like in all honesty, the only thing we can think of is that the main door to the cottage we stayed in banged slightly during the night, bit of a harsh criticism though because it was blowing a gale force wind while we stayed...

The staff. Pub and food was the best ever. Can't wait till the nt time I go

Location was amazing, food in the pub was great. The heating in the flat was very warm! It could be a bit loud when warming up but as an old building that was expected. The flat was cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed.
The decor in the flat was not very modern but it didn't impact the comfort or cleanliness of it.

great location, excellent staff, lovely food. the cottage was lovely and warm on arrival, and it had everything you would need for a short stay. there was an allocated car parking space at the rear of the pub for the cottage, so parking for one car wasn't a problem. despite being directly over the pub, you couldn't hear any noise from below. there is a general store at the campsite just over the road that has lovely local produce. breakfast in the morning was big and very tasty. all in all, a great place.
really small points, but the decor is a little tired and could do with a quick spruce up. the curtains dont really block out the light from the carpark area, but it wasn't really a problem. the TV reception was hit and miss at best, but then we weren't there to sit and watch the box, so again not a problem, and CBBC worked, so the kids were sorted. the mattress in the double bed tended to roll you into the middle - fine by me, but the wife wasn't too happy! lol. all in all there were only minor points, but a little bit of attention to detail and it would be rated as excellent.

Unclean fridge
double bedroom door damaged
'paper' light in lounge damaged

Done self catering , attached to the pub

Beautiful right in the heart of The Peak District at the start of The Pennine Way. Great walks all around direct from the holiday cottage. The pub staff were super helpful and when the pub was busy they'd bring food direct to the cottage. Great food & drink available in the pub and breakfasts too at weekends, or you can entirely self cater, the choice is all yours.
Probably due to COVID but there wasn't an up to date menu with serving times in the cottage, but a very minor issue.

Great location for hiking. Near perfect for one-night stay. Lovely little village. Super comfortable armchair! Very cosy cottage, just behind the pub. Perfect for father and son bonding time or a date! Pub food is good. Meal didn't take very long to come. Hope to return in the future!

Great location. Great to have the pub on the door step. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable apartment for the two of us. Had enough facilities if you wanted to be completely self-catering.

Beautiful location, was out walking a lot of the time.
They're not cottages, they're flats above a pub. Not clean enough, very small and cramped . The Kinder "cottage" kept getting a lot of flies inside even though the windows were closed, because the skips are just below it. Quite noisy, a door downstairs constantly banging. We even had to fill the water bottles for their pet rabbits as they were completely empty for quite some time. The Grindsbrook cottage was dirty with lipstick marks on drinking glasses, food remnants on baking tray and in the microwave. Overall, pretty disappointed.

Awesome location, lovely cottage and great pub. Will definitely use again.
Space was a bit limited on the top bunk for a large guy.
6.0
Great location. Was a little surprised that the cottage was quite dirty in places eg fridge, door handles and cutlery all had dirt and ledges has thick black gunk in places. Small bedroom would benefit from storage for example a row of hooks of shelves
7.0
The birds in the roof and no plug near a mirror. Also nowhere to put food that we bought for the self catering trip
