Loved my stay! Kana is so helpful! Really enjoyed my time with her. Also the room is nice, it’s super clean

Everything. Kana (the person in charge) made us feel at home. Her recommendations were key to making the most of our stay in Hakone. She helped us to find a tattoo-friendly Onsen, reserved restaurants with local food and showed us several hiking trails.
The room was very clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and the building facilities were in very good condition. We were very pleasantly surprised, we will definitely come back.

KANA!!!

The owner was incredibly nice! She was super helpful with figuring out transportation, where to eat, and things to do. The showers are small but very clean. Comfy beds in the shared dormitory.

Kana-san was very welcoming and supremely helpful in finding us a restaurant for the evening. The tickets for the close onsen were really appreciated too.
The mattresses were a bit thin

Hostel with a lot of traditional Japanese charm. The shared room is practical and the beds have a door/curtain, providing some privacy.
I want to especially mention Kana, the woman in charge of the hostel, she is lovely and helps you with everything. She recommends routes, excellent restaurants, and onsen. She even checks availability and calls to make a reservation for you. Fantastic! We couldn't have been more comfortable, we regretted only staying for one night.

Ryuhei (Hei San) is an amazing host. The dormitory beds are very comfortable and clean. There is a locker for valuable goods, comfortable shared lounges, kitchen, pay to use laundry etc. They also have a guide book about nearby Onsen and details of recommended restaurants. The guests are well taken care of. The location is convenient to visit Dougashima, Kawazu, Itou, Heda and Izu panorama park.

The 2-person pods were so nice. It was the best stay in our trip, even though we didn;t have a private room. The pods were cozy, the common space very nice, bathing facilities very nice and host couldn't be nicer.

Kana is the most amazingly helpful host. The double bed bunk bed was the comfiest bed of the trip. The old post office building is cool!
We were sad to not see Mt Fuji due to cloud and didn’t feel we were in the easiest place to see it but you cannot ever guarantee seeing the mountain.

Kana is so kind, cheerful and helpful. We really enjoyed meeting her. She really went above and beyond- even walked us to the correct bus stop to show us where it was. The location of the hostel is great- super walkable from tozan railway station, to bus stops, etc. There are shops and restaurants, hiking or walking paths nearby and the town is lovely to walk around and explore. The historical building is amazing. The beds are soft and I brought an eye mask and noise cancelling headphones and fell asleep just fine!

The staff Kana san is super super friendly, I felt like I met an old friend and we could talk all day. I had a smooth trip to kawaguchiko all thanks to her as she gave me exact instructions on how to go there. She recommended me restaurants and onsen places that I can visit and even help me make a reservation. I had a such a great dinner and a great experience at the onsen. The room is vintage and pretty big for one person. I honestly like it a lot. The room has no aircon, just fan ( so just take note) I personally don’t have an issue with it. Kana San is very thoughtful to give me a thin, cooling blanket instead. I enjoyed my stay so much that I change my plan a little so that I could meet her for a little while more. Price is so reasonable that it was wayyyyyyyyy beyond my expectation.

I love the host Nana a lot. She is a very friendly and easygoing person. If you have any question about the tour. Don’t hesitate to let her know.
There is no air-conditioner in my room and the bed is too soft for me.
I think it must be mentioned when I booked the room. But I can not imagine how hot HAKONE’s summer can be. I will come again except for summer time.

The best place ever because of the authentic Japanese vibe. We stayed in a Japanese style room. It was awesome to wake up with the morning light coming into the room through the rice paper windows.
We will never forget our amazing host, Kana who shared her passion for the area and Mt Fuji in particular with os. She took us on an unforgettable trip to the shrine and a mountain area at 4 am in the morning so we could experience sunrise with a beautiful view on Mt Fuji.
The best place for us on our 18 days tour in Japan.

The host Kana is very helpful and help me to book the onsen which is value for money for backpackers, the bed is big which can almost fit 2 persons, the hostel located in several bus stations. The hostel very classics and if you have a feel of old style guesthouse, this is the one.
The house is old might be make little noise during walking.

absolute gem!
Kana was an amazing host and helped us and everyone with so many things for example restaurant bookings (and suggestions), onsen bookings and even took us to hike with her. she’s been like that with everyone.
moreover the atmosphere was great and it’s a small place with something like 12 guests at a time. the spacious common area invites for socializing in a very comfortable way and all guest were very interesting.
we slept in the dorm (4x queen size beds) which is super spacious and the beds were very comfy. the room is on the 2nd floor and facing the road. it can get noisy I guess but we didn’t have any problems at all (Kana even hands our ear plugs).
the location is great because all buses that are relevant are stopping within 100m and therefore it’s very easy to get to and from all sights such as lake ashi, Picasso outdoor museum and so on.

The staff is really really nice. She gave us great advise for the bus, restaurant and even help us book a private Onsen. She was the best.
Lack of curtain on the window, bring your sleeping mask if the light bothers you.

Kana, our hostel host, was the best ever host - so friendly, helpful and always with a ready smile. The hostel was well resourced with free green tea, coffee and chilled water etc. Location was superb, eight minutes’ walk from the train station or a minute’s walk from the bus stop. Room was comfortable and serviceable.

The location is at small station but can be convenient to many scenery spots by bus. The host is extremely kind and friendly, she provided many suggestions, helped booking private bath and cared everything I need. Wonderful!
Just a tiny disadvantage: noise is easy to be made cuz the building is old

Kana-San is one of the nicest people, she is so helpful and makes sure you get the most out of your stay.
The hostel is in a good location for doing the Hakone free pass loop and there are also some nice walks around the area.

Kana is the sweetest person and thinks for you all the time. She’s done reservations for us, made us Sushi, taught us how to make origami and basically helped with everything. She made the place feel very comfortable.

Wow! Our host, Kana, was so nice and welcoming. She made sure I knew how to navigate around Hakone and recommended a local onsen nearby which was very relaxing. When I checked out, I forgot my umbrella, but she ran after me to make sure I got it. She then ensured I got on the right bus to make my shinkansen! Seriously the best host I've ever had!

The host Kana was very welcoming and felt very comfortable from the very start. She's also got knowledge of the best onsens and food around the area. The room I got, which is the Japanese room with a private toilet, was very comfortable and had enough heating from the heater and kotatsu to keep me warm. Will definitely come back here again in the future.
Nothing I didn't like.

The staff, Kana, is extremely helpful and friendly. She had given us a lot of travel tips around Hakone once we arrived. For example, how to ride the bus, what time to get the best view for Mt. Fuji, when to enjoy onsen, how to purchase Hakone Free Pass at 7-11 and more… … Excellent! The location is also marvellous. It was between 7-11 and Lawson. The bus stops and train station are also within walking distance. Genius!
