Great accommodation, almost in the middle of the jungle and right next to the national park.
We had to leave a day early, the hosts were really nice and understanding!

The nice comfortable cottages in the quiet, jungle forrest surrounding. And off course the very nice staff, helping, cooking and talking about their country.

The staff were amazing so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was so tasty. We were right in the jungle and it felt like a paradise.
We were so close to both the safari and the elephant orphanage which they organised for us to go too.
Amazing stay would love to go back !

Good, quiet spot to stay if you’re doing a safari in Udawalawe. The staff were very attentive and lovely! They even took us to a close by swimming spot which was nice. They did everything - cooked, cleaned, checked us in and out, and helped us to organise transport around Udawalawe and to our next stop on our trip.
There’s not heaps to do around, but that’s okay, because we were really just there to do the safari. The outdoor bathrooms were fine but probably not the most amazing!

This was a peaceful place, with birds and squirrels and a nice garden, off the main road but still close to the park for the safari. The staff of two were very helpful and friendly. The outdoor bathroom was a fun touch. The room was simple but comfortable. We had an excellent breakfast of curries and string hoppers and fresh juice. They organised our safari at short notice (well worth it - the safari was incredible!)
Nothing.

I have stayed at this hotel before. I selected this hotel again for a short visit to Udawalawe with my Husband. As usual we enjoyed our stay at this lovely location. Spacious, clean room, open air bathroom, friendly staff and tasty food .. everything was as excellent as in our previous stays. We made this booking suddenly and on the day of our stay. But the staff quickly arranged a delicious dinner for us on very short notice. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

The rooms were clean, and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Udawalawa. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The sevice was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there.

This place was perfect. The bedroom was huge, clean and the outdoor bathroom gave it a real 'natural' feel. I was a bit nervous about bugs in there as I'm scared of everything - I didn't see a thing in the bathroom so if you are in two minds about the outdoor aspect please don't let this put you off! It was lovely and unique.
The staff (Winston and his colleague) were fantastic. They were attentive, friendly and I really felt they genuinely cared about our trip and giving us the best experience possible. The food was homemade and delicious and I had my favourite Kottu of the holiday here!
The safari was also a massive bonus at Hantara. There is choice of a 3, 6 or 9 hour all arranged by the hotel. We originally chose a 9 hour but we were advised whilst there that 2 seperate sunrise and dusk safaris may be better due to the fact the animals are fairly inactive in the extreme heat of the day. We decided to do 2 and I'm so glad we did. We saw pregnant elephants, baby elephants, males fighting, monkeys, a peacock dance and the guide was brilliant who is exclusively used by this hotel. He was punctual both times and picked us up directly from hotel. He was gentle towards the animals such as driving slowly past them (which some did not) and was so patient with us watching them, giving lots of time for us to view. He was friendly, informative and again really seemed to care about locating as many animals as he could to maximise our experience. We were very lucky to have the jeep to ourselves both times so it felt like a private safari.
Nothing about the accommodation! The general area of Udawalawa did not have much else there as it is very safari focused but the food in the hotel was perfect so this wasn't a problem for us.
