My partner and I stayed here for one night. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the service was exceptional. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were wonderful. We appreciated the late check-out.
Parts of the hotel were under construction - this didn't affect our stay, but it took away from the overall impression of the property. The beach close to the property is a surfing beach so you will need to go elsewhere if you are looking for something calmer. The spa services were not operational.

I rarely leave any reviews. Not for any particular reason really other than laziness. But this resort is exceptional and the world needs to know. The resort is uber clean and comfortable but what makes it exceptional is the team that manage it. The team is AMAZING. They went above and beyond to make sure I was safe. While in Sri Lanka, almost an hour from the resort, I got caught in a rip current and nearly drowned. I was rescued by Police life guards and though I did not need to go to a hospital, I decided to go for a check up just in case. An ambulance came and took me to a public hospital which added another 30 minutes from the resort. The hospital ran tests and so on so forth, and thankfully I was OK, however due to their policy I had to sleep overnight. Given I was OK and was only in Sri Lanka for another 2 nights, I wanted to leave no matter what. So now I wanted to leave but the hospital could not discharge me. I called the GM of Mosvold, Tony, and explained the situation. He sent a member of his team, Sam, on a 90 minutes ride to the hospital so that he can drop of his National ID, sign an "affidavit" for a lack of a better word, and got me discharged. Then he took me all the way back to the hotel and made sure the chef doesnt leave for the day so that we can have something to eat. Mind you, Sam still has to go back to that hospital later to pay a minimal fee and collect his ID.
THAT is PRICELESS. I don't know what would have happened had it not been for Tony and his team. The entire team is exceptional - Sam, Nupin and believe me I would name every single team member, but my memory let me down.
Great food, great view, uber comfortable, easy going and flexible, and SAFE.
I cannot & have not recommended anything so highly in my life. If you go to Sri Lanka, which you should, this is your spot.
Nothing whatsoever.

Mosvold villa is very tranquil, it overlooks the ocean with beautifully kept gardens and one of the nicest and pristine swimming pools I have swam in. Breakfast is served outside overlooking the ocean. There is an extensive menu choice e.g Continental, Healthy, American or Sri Lankan. All are delicious and well presented. We also ate dinner at Mosvold which was excellent especially the coconut shrimps. There are a few local restaurants close by serving good food and which are obviously cheaper but Mosvold offers a great choice and is not over priced in comparison.
All the staff were super friendly and nothing too much trouble.
The hotel is right on the beach but to swim you have to walk 200m down the beach due to rocks and rip tide.
We booked the studio suite with plunge pool. The room was lovely but wouldn’t call it a “suite”. It was a nice bright room with large bed. Plunge pool is only 2 ft deep by 3ft wide by about 12 ft long. Nice to sit in - but not “plunge”.
We paid around £300 pn for our “suite” but the standard rooms are very nice. They are about the same size, all sea facing and open directly onto the garden. I would therefore book one of these when and if I return.

The room and bathroom was very spacious and beautiful. The bed was the most comfortable on our entire trip. The view across the beach is stunning.
The service at breakfast was different every day. only on the third day the staff told us what was actually included for breakfast. it’s actually a lot, I wish I would have known on the first day.
It was quite windy during our stay, the pool should be cleaned throughout the day and not only in the mornings.

Great boutique hotel, just don't resever the standard room (it is very small)
Breakfast is good, but very few options and limited to one option per guest (which is very rare for 5 star hotel), no Expressso machine in the hotel or in the room - also not common for 5 stars hotel whith high rates as this one).
Team are freindly and nice, pool is great, beach is great as well

We had a lovely stay here - it’s a small boutique style hotel right on the beach. Good service & great food!

This is not just a stand alone villa - it is an exquisite boutique hotel.
We were able to arrange a late checkout on our final day
The restaurant and staff were all charming - with lovely food
This is being soooo super picky, but the hair dryer in our room was not as powerful as that we have at home.
This meant that it took my wife longer to dry her hair.

Mosvold Villa's was one of the best villa's we stayed in during our trip to Sri lanka. We were in Sri Lanka for 1 month and spent 5 days at Mosvold; the location is great with a beach that is easily accessible, that you can swim in and we also did surf lessons whilst there as well as run's on the beach. Out of all the places we stayed Mosvold had the best overall experience with us being able to have a late breakfast if we needed, the food itself was up to a high standard and the pool and Hammock are a very nice touch. There are a lot of nice touches in terms of the decor of the Mosvold + it was the best service we received. I would highly recommend and it was by the overall the best boutique we stayed in during our visit

We stayed for a night and everything was perfect and clean.
We also had dinner and the food was amazing.
I would definitely repeat if I come back to Sri Lanka.

Waiters are friendly and polite.
The manager played a fool, we wanted to change dates, but he tried to trick us. He just needed to confirm the request, but he told us its all about booking.com

The service was excellent. Rarely found this in SL before. Extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and the location at a top spot right on the beach. I will come back!

The staff were absolutely amazing and did everything to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. They went over and above what I expected of them and it's credit to the whole team for their level of service. The food was a real highlight. The chef deserves particular mention for his seared peppered yellow fin tuna. It was really really delicious!

Lanka’s south coast is simply amazing - but some places are just better than others, they have this colonial style that is truly amazing. Mosvold is one of those places, It’s style is nice - rooms are clean, relatively big with a nice feel to them.
Their food is really really good - there’s some really good dishes and the price is ok (for western world standards)
Swimming pool - perfect for kids (and adults) and open till late
Location is just perfect... perfect. Overlooking kabalana beach - really nice destination for surfing (yet not crowded)
Even if you don’t stay there it’s a place you have to visit even as an attraction of the area...
Having spent enough time on similar colonial style hotels I’d say that I’ve seen better designs elsewhere - still their colonial feel was quite good

The chef was fantastic and the Sri Lankan breakfast was great tasting. The seafood platter we had for dinner was one of the best I have had. It was fresh with great flavours and cooked to perfection.
