I booked a small single room which was a good price. It was clean and comfortable. Only coffee and no tea provided. I do love a morning cup of tea! Enjoyed a lovely dinner there which was well priced and the public areas were magnificent. Staff all wonderful and helpful. I can't wait to return some time

The lovely staff on reception made us feel immediately welcome. We were upgraded to a larger room, which was a lovely touch. The surroundings were beautiful. The rooms that we had were very spacious, with lovely bath and super powerful separate shower. We had decided to go into town for a snack and it's just a short pleasant walk to the shops and cafes. We slept very well in our huge super king bed with the occasional hoot from the local owls. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful. We were served coffee or tea but everything else was a help yourself buffet. A menu was also available for extra choices. Perfect. We were served by a very lovely lady.
We wished that we were staying longer. Next time hopefully.
The only thing that we didn't like were the pillows but that's just being picky. I prefer a softer pillow.

Very grand
The pool and hottub were dirty and the chlorine was far too strong

Loved this hotel so much in June - we went again in August. For the money paid this hotel is fabulous. Great room, great staff, great service- love it! The pool area was looking poor in June with peeling walls but this has been repainted and re tiled and looks great now. We will definitely return.
Nothing!

Room size
Sauna and steam room not working. You find out after check out you have to book it to be turned on.. penny pinching at the expense of the guest.
No hot water from the shower in the morning.
Bar staff incompetent. Kept giving excuses instead of serving people. Asked for salt, pepper and ketchup when served food, he went back behind the bar and immediately forgot, didn't care.
Decor gaudy and incredibly old fashioned.
No other options for food in the area.
'Beautifully manicured garden'' was just a piece of lawn next to taped off drained outside pool area.
Generally very low standards across the board.
Markets itself as a lake district waterside property when in reality is based in a very deprived area.

Hotel is wonderful and the staff are friendly and helpful. Location is very good and breakfast is delicious.
The pillows were so hard, they hurt my neck.
Restaurant menu could have more selections of main course.

How clean the hotel is and the staff were very friendly. The new waitress who looked after us at breakfast each day was extremely helpful 😊
Although we appreciated the free upgrade which was very kind of the hotel to do, it was a struggle with my disability having the extra walk and stairs

Location was ideal
Over priced for what it offered

The helpful and friendly atmosphere in the gotel
The en suite facilities were very much below par. The extractor fan was broken and just made noise rather than removing damp air. This had resulted in black mould around the shower and around the corners of the ceiling.

room was great and the hotel was really nice.
the bath in the bathroom was only small and not relaxing. a walk in shower unit would have been better.
We arrived a little early and the receptionist asked us to wait in the bar area and they would come and get us when our room was ready. They forgot and if we hadn't gone and shown our face again we would have been sat for ages.
The pool and spa was dated. The hot tub wasnt warm and the sauna was out of order

Olga who looked after us at dinner and breakfast was great.
Being up graded to a ridiculously large room with a bath and television in the middle of it! A big step up too, so in the middle of the night going to the bathroom was an assault course. Overlarge room, what on earth is it for. The carpet was dirty too and the blind was broken. The barman was useless and gave me husband a glass of whisky in a hot wet glass.

Breakfast was very good
On the evening of arrival we were expecting to eat at the bar (which we were told you did not need to book for) as we had already been told that the restaurant was fully booked. When we arrived at the bar to order we were informed (after we had menus in our hands and ordered drinks) that the kitchen had been suddenly closed due to "staff shortages" and because the hotel had conference guests. We had to go out in the dark and drizzle to eat elsewhere. We did eat at the bar the following evening, which had a very limited menu and our meals were a little below par

The consiage was brilliant, a really helpful chap. Lovely ground and historical hotel. Nice food in restaurant. We were upgraded due to an issue with the original room.

location and staff
No shower in the room only a bath and in 20 degree heat we wanted a shower. Our confirmation confirmed there was a shower and we asked to change rooms but there was no space. We asked for a fan and the one we were
given did not work. no air con.

The hotel is in an imposing building and all members of staff were very hardworking and friendly. the quality of food was excellent.
Our room was rather shabby and budget, with poor quality soaps etc and refreshments. The room was very hot and the tv tiny. In the dining room, no one checked that either water or coffee was needed and orders were confused.

Breakfast good and staff good
Room had internal door to an internal room no external windows to fresh air ,was extremely hot ,we only had a fan ,and left door open through out the stay . Also was a wedding on so noise till 1am loud music. No air conditioning.Room lighting very poor, even at day time .This was when it was cold outside, imagine in the summer. Shower old design, need to modernize.

The location of the hotel, next to the train station and the sea. The staff, in particular Beth in the leisure centre was friendly and made us feel welcome.
Wasn't informed of a conference so no dining facilities as all booked on site.

The room had a beautiful view and ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath
It was quiet and the bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was acceptable but the service was poor. Forgot to bring tea and I eventually caught the waiters eye and it arrived after I had eaten.
We booked for dinner for three nights.
Fine dining it was indeed but again the service was really not good.
Ordered wine with my meal which did not arrive and I had it taken off my bill.
Did not stay for dessert as the whole evening was just not enjoyable although as I said the food was good.
5.0 / 5.0
The overall experience with food, the room and the location all exceeded our expectations.
There was nothing to dislike.
