The room was tatty and needed updating. Very basic toiletries. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. I was shocked by a group like Marston. Offering suck poor quality rooms.

Nicely decorated rooms.
Great having the small fridge.
Pub meal was delicious and good value.
Pub garden is nice.
Coffee machine a bit difficult to work out. Instant coffee would have been fine.
Water in a one of the rooms was a little hit and miss.

Friendly staff and good location
No breakfast option, couldn’t get shower to work. Limited hot drink options that didn’t get refreshed. Could have been cleaner, old coffee pods left in machine

Easy access to the train station. Free parking at the Bull
The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom wasn't clean as there were spiders in the bath and stains in the toilet. The toilet flush wasn't working properly. Due to checking in late and leaving early, there wasn't anyone around for us to contact. Disappointing stay and wouldn't recommend it to others.

Nice pub, nice room to sleep , decent food
When i walked back down to room two after dinner i fell down on the steps leading to the room because i couldnt see them , ive injured my ankle and struggled with it today.
The lights on the building opposite were not lit up, but they did come on later in the night as it shone through my window in my room i noticed when they were turned on.
And No remote to operate the TV. I looked all over but couldnt find it.

Very good price
Carpet was filthy. Ring hooks missing on curtains and mould in bathroom, old holes in walls not filled in.
Wouldn’t take much to touch it up.

The staff was very nice and friendly, and the beds very very comfy with lots of pillows. Also location was great, literally a minute from fantastic walking paths in the forest.
Heating was not working in the beggining but it was fixed/turned on once we reported it.
The room could have been cleaner and pub staff was having their break chat often quite close to the door of the room.

I thought the staff were fantastic, and really made an effort to solve some problems I had during my stay and immediately afterwards - customer service was spot on. I ate the best lasagne ever in the pub paired with a perfectly poured pint of Guinness. I love this location for access to the Ridgeway National Trail and the food in the pub is really tasty.
The room I was in was massive, the shower powerful and nice and hot, the bath absolutely perfect. In all, great value for money.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating in my room on two nights of my stay, and the emergency engineer failed to turn up, which put a big damper on my plans. But the bar manager and property owner took great pains to resolve the issue and once they turned up the engineers were working on the problem at length during and after my stay.
I have stayed here before and there was an electric heater in the room at the time, which may be good to keep on hand in the event anything goes wrong for someone in the future.
Also would have liked to be able to have breakfast on site but that's not a deal breaker, there is a café easily accessible just over the bridge towards Goring.
