About this house rental
Island View Cottage sits in a small fishing village overlooking Malaga Island and Casco Bay and provides a luxurious spot along the Maine coast to relax and unwind. You can be among the first to enjoy this professionally designed and newly built, air-conditioned cottage that is completely powered by the sun. One-level living makes it suitable for all ages – from crawling babies to folks who would prefer a place where they don't have to navigate stairs. And being at the end of a private lane, you can count on solitude and a chance to truly decompress during your visit.
At one end of Island View is a gorgeous great room with a cathedral ceiling. Loads of windows open to wonderful breezes and views of the bay and nearby islands. Settle into comfortable seating to relax, watch a movie, or read a book in the living area. When the evenings get chilly, the glow and ambience of the gas fireplace will welcome you home after a busy day. The partially covered deck off the living area gets you even closer to the shore and is a restful place to sit with your morning coffee. If you're an early riser, you can watch many of the local lobstermen set off for the day's haul. After dinner, you can sit in those same chairs and enjoy the sunset. The dining alcove seats six for meals and can easily convert to a work area with high-speed internet for anyone who needs to check in with the office while away. The spacious kitchen includes lots of storage, a full compliment of all you need to cook up a feast, a large island, dishwasher, and beautiful granite surfaces.
At the other end of the cottage is the master bedroom with a queen bed, television, and an en suite bathroom with dual sinks and tiled shower. A huge walk-in closet allows you to actually unpack instead of living out of your suitcase. In the center of the house are two more queen bedrooms and a second full bathroom. The great room and each of the three bedrooms has its own individual heating and cooling unit.
A pack 'n play, high chair, and baby gate are available to accommodate your smaller family members. Beach chairs and umbrella, a cooler, and a bag full of beach toys are also on hand for your trips to Popham Beach, Head Beach, or Totman Cove Preserve. The cottage does not have a washer/dryer, but most guests are able to pack enough for a week's visit. There are also two laundromats in Bath if you're here for a longer stay. A pass to Popham Beach State Park is included with your stay. Bring your own kayaks or rent from Seaspray and have them delivered to the cottage. If you’re just starting out, nearby Sebasco Harbor Resort offers lessons to get you acclimated.

The house and host were fantastic. I was not prepared for the fact that the location was 20 minutes to the nearest town (Bath) and 50-60 minutes from Boothbay. I would say that this location is perfect if you are looking for beautiful scenery and escaping the busy and perhaps hectic life that you temporarily need a break from.

I really enjoyed my long weekend stay at Island View. The house was very clean, cozy, stocked. The view was amazing and communication with Kathy was top-notch. The cove was fun to explore and I enjoyed looking for sea glass.

This lovely home is definitely away from the rat race! Arriving after dark was a little nerve racking, but what a pleasant surprise to awaken to the beautiful view off the deck!
Island View Cottage was very comfortable with plenty of room for the four of us to move around and not feel crowded. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need, including basic seasonings and spices. Comfortable beds and furniture, and quiet surroundings.
An extra special surprise was being able to arrange for the delivery of fresh lobster, which we cooked ourselves!
Kathy quickly responded to questions and offered many recommendations for dining and activities nearby.
If you’re looking to get away from the daily grind in a beautiful, peaceful setting, this is your destination.

This location is beautiful, the house is very nice and accommodated the family easily. Very clean and comfortable. Wonderful kitchen and 2- bathrooms!
Fresh sea air and fresh lobster what more could you ask for? This was our first Vrbo rental and we are impressed. We highly recommend. Kathy was easy to contact and responsive if we had any questions. Thank you Kathy, we absolutely loved it. We'll be back!

We had such a wonderful stay in Sebasco with our two young kids. Kathy's place was perfect - clean, a beautiful location overlooking the water, and so well equipped with everything we might have needed from kitchen supplies to games and books for the kids. It was a short drive to Popham Beach, which was a perfect spot to swim and play with the kids, and the house came with a beach pass. Perfect spot to spend a week!

Beautiful home with a spectacular view. It was the most well stocked home we’ve ever stayed in. There were many great food options nearby and super neighbors who helped us a lot. The crabby lobster was a good place to pick up cooked, giant lobsters (just call ahead). We would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, bright, open and airy cottage. It's a great layout with comfortable furnishings, very tasteful decor and it was well-stocked and neat as a pin. The gas fireplace was cozy and much appreciated on the cool October nights. The view from the deck is gorgeous and I loved being out there at all times of the day - whether in the morning with a hot cup of hot chocolate, or as the sunset painted the sky in the early evening, or late at night when the sky was full of stars. The last thing I did before check-out was to step out onto that deck one more time to feel and smell that delicious ocean breeze coming at me! The location was perfect for us with its close proximity to some of our favorite Maine spots - Popham Beach and the Morse Mountain trail to the drop-dead gorgeous Seawall Beach. Another plus for me was the view of Malaga Island right across the river/bay and I enjoyed rereading Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy while the island was practically just a stone's throw away. Kathy was a great hostess and responded quickly to any questions we had. It was really hard to leave and I am already looking forward to a return visit!

We had a very enjoyable few days at the Island View cottage. The cottage is very clean and well maintained. We were glad we got there during daytime, as it may have been difficult to find it at night! Kitchen and bathrooms are very well equipped - everything was provided!

The house was beautiful. I have a few suggestions for the owner. First, i think renters need to know how the water system works ahead of time & that they are expected to conserve water at the house as much as possible. Secondly, we didn't realize there was no washer/dryer at the property so that became a problem for us. Lastly, I highly recommend that the owner go down to the beach area by the house & pick up all the dog poop down there.
I have never seen so much dog poop in my life. You can't walk in that area without stepping in poop. It smelled bad & ruined our walks to the beach area. Thanks.

This beautiful house was perfect for our week-long trip to Maine! It worked wonderfully for everyone in the family which included our pets, our baby, and our 90 year old father! The house is wonderfully clean, modern, and spacious and has absolutely stunning views of the water and island. We will be booking this place again next time we are in Maine!

This was easily the most spacious, comfortable, well-appointed, and generously provisioned home we have ever rented--and with living room and deck overlooking the harbor and Malaga Island. Mornings we watched the fishing boats depart; evenings, we reveled in the sunsets. Two in our party have visited nearby Small Point for some years, but this was our first stay in Sebasco. (We were delighted to discover that we could sit out on the deck at all hours without being pestered by mosquitos!) The bedrooms were roomy and very comfortable. We cooked nightly in the very well-stocked kitchen including steamers from Clam Hunter, lobster from Small Point Fisheries, and fresh fish from Plant’s. That Kathy includes passes to Popham Beach and Totman Cove with the rental is an additional plus. We enjoyed twice daily walks at Popham, especially those days when the surf was up and the surfers were out. The highlight of our lunches out was the new Spinney’s near Popham: now offering not only great views but also great food for a seaside clam shack--and at prices much more affordable than the lunch stop we made in Kittery on our way to Phippsburg. We hope to make September visits to Sebasco and stays at this delightful house a family tradition.
A couple of notes for prospective guests: There is currently (Fall 2022) some home construction and renovation taking place in the neighborhood, but the crews are small and low-key, no disturbance at all. As we would with any coastal home, we brought jugged water for coffee-making. The home doesn’t have a washer and dryer (because, we gather, the harbor side location requires the house to have a holding tank for waste water that a service regularly pumps out), so we packed to avoid needing a laundry trip to Bath. All in all, we could not have asked for more from this beautifully situated home and a responsive, generous host.

I wish six stars were available for this lovely property. Clean, comfortable, stylish, well-appointed (even a smart phone charging station)--Island View was a wonderful place to relax and explore the mid-Coast area. Two other points to note: the view from the deck is pure Maine coast and the host professional and easy to work with.

Island View is a lovely home in a small mid-Coast Maine community and we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The house is nicely remodeled with a well equipped kitchen and all the items needed for preparing meals and then some. The back deck was lovely for sitting and enjoying the view. The beds were comfortable and there is tons of storage space. The home is very close to others but all immediate neighbors were lovely. AC was appreciated but fortunately not needed as there is great air flow with the windows open.
We love this part of Maine and found our favorite spots easily accessible like Freeport, Brunswick, Monkey C Monkey Do, Boothbay and Popham Beach (pass included).
Kathy was a wonderful host and communicated all the essentials but just a few things to note: a house is currently being built nextdoor from the ground up and the construction noise was significant during the day. Fortunately we were busy elsewhere most days. Also, doing laundry at the laundromat is a time commitment so pack accordingly to try and avoid needing to do any. We managed to find a nice one in Freeport and shopped between loads. Finally, the water access is good for launching kayaks and paddle boards but not much else. There is no dock access for the fisherpeople in our group and the goose poop and seaweed limited playing or wading close to the waters edge.

Island View Cottage is beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. We especially loved the view of the water and Malaga Island from the back deck, and that we could launch our kayaks from the little beach. The free passes to Popham Beach and the town beach at Totman Cove were an added bonus.

Idyllic Coastal Cottage ❤
This cottage is clean and comfortable, and the decor is lovely, almost as tranquil and relaxing as the deck overlooking the harbor. We look forward to visiting again in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet retreat on the coast of Maine.

Best VRBO I’ve ever stayed at
Really great property. The neighbors (except for one) were lovely. The house was VERY clean, which is always my biggest concern. It was clean, cute, had a pretty view of the water, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. There’s a few cute beaches nearby and some great lobster places. We had a nice time.

Quality house with a great view
This house was built within the last 2 years so everything is so new and clean. It is immaculate and beautifully finished with quality detail-cathedral ceiling, tons of windows, huge kitchen, beautiful granite counters. So much space with a deck overlooking water with great deck furniture. It is very secluded on a dirt road with just a few neighbors. Plan to go back next year! So easy to book!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would highly recommend for families or a small group of friends. Kathy's place was clean and well appointed, and the views were amazing. The house had everything we needed and Kathy was extremely helpful and communicative. We were in town for a wedding and the proximity to Sebasco was super convenient. We hope to come back in the summer months!

Best Maine vacation ever!
An exceptional vacation property. Large rooms with great air circulation — many windows. This is a new property, well built and appointed. Excellent full bathrooms. Large, well-stocked kitchen. A large cantilevered deck with nice sunset views to the SW. 12 minutes to Popham Beach. 15 minutes to Bath— quaint downtown, outstanding dog park, maritime museum, lots more.

Beautiful House
The house is beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable. There is A/C in every bedroom, we didn’t use it, but it is not always available in properties in Maine. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked dinner every night with no problems. Popham beach is close and a great beach for boogie boarding, swimming, wading, playing in the sand, or beach walking. We explored Totman Preserve and Morse Mountain, which are both very close. Overall, a great location and a lovey home.

Dream vacation
Kathy’s home was spectacular in every way. The rooms were large and full of light. The beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The kitchen was open and fully equipped. The deck is large and had breathtaking views of lobster boats and islands in the bay. The location in a quiet little neighborhood was peaceful and friendly. I spent my time there with family including a 2 yr old grandson. Kathy had a pack and play, high chair, room darkening blinds and an enormous assortment of children’s books and games. Packing was so easy. The bathrooms were so clean and large. This house offers all the comforts of home right down to the soft towels and comfy furniture. Well worth the price. In addition, you won’t find an owner more attentive to the needs of her guests.

Great House. Lovely View
The Island View Cottage is much more than just a cottage. It is a beautiful home with all the modern amenities - newly built, clean, and comfortable. Lots of natural light comes in from the many windows, and the deck was the perfect place for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

Islandview getaway
This house is utterly amazing. Brand new, modern but cozy, spacious with all amenities and dog friendly. The 3 queen beds were really comfortable, and the deck was fabulous. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the lobster boats coming in and out. I wouldn't recommend bringing young children or dogs onto the small beach in front of the property because it was full of glass. Some was beach glass, but enough was pretty sharp. Popham Beach is huge and beautiful and was about a 15 min. ride away. Be sure to visit the fort while you are there. The local dog beach, Totman Cove is very pretty, but unfortunately too full of seaweed for people or dogs to swim. We did a whale watch from Boothbay Harbor, about a 50 min. ride away. That is a really cute town. We got fresh clams one night for dinner, and fresh lobsters another night. both places were only a short car ride away. The owner of the property, Kathy was prompt and thorough with her communication, answering all of our questions about the property and the surrounding area. This vacation was very different than our usual southern Maine visit. No crowds or traffic. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is your place. Phippsburg is pretty remote, so you really had to plan your trips to stores or restaurants in Bath or Brunswick so you weren't doing too much driving. Bath is pretty quiet too. It was perfect for my adult kids and us to get together at a really relaxing place.
