As its name says, this is an old colonial villa on one of the more relaxed streets in Zona Colonial, just two blocks from the pedestrian vein of the Old Town. A lively “colmado” on the street corner, and front doors always locked for security. A two-storied old building with a patio filled with lush greenery and a little dip pool that is cleaned regularly. The villa is full of colonial charm, houses just a dozen rooms that are basic but very well maintained and impeccably clean. What makes this hotel special is the staff and the personal attention they are willing to give you. Ramón, the manager, who is fluent in French, Spanish and English at least, knows the town and the country inside out and is generous with sharing tips about events, sights, restaurants and domestic travel destinations. Any problem is piece of cake in his hands. On top of that, he is personally preparing the breakfast for the nicely modest number of hotel guests. And the breakfasts are to die for! I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights, and every morning I got a different, delicious à la carte breakfast with mouthwatering fruits, excellent coffee, fresh juice and chilled water plus eggs made to your taste – and you can’t even imagine they could taste so good! – plus a dessert (the banana flambé in rum was my favorite, already for the sight of preparing it!). As I was a long-staying guest, they even made a typical Dominican breakfast for me once, outside the menu. I could stay in this hotel again just for the breakfasts and the big smiles the boys and ladies in this hotel give you every day. These people stole my heart and made my stay in Santo Domingo so special.

Staff was just you could wish for and as it this should be at 5* level.
Colonial style, activity and service provided from the staff on some cases beyond expectations, thanks!

Very charming little hotel in the perfect location in Old Santo Domingo. The manager of Villa Colonial, Ramón, and the rest of the staff are just delightful and very competent.
The breakfast offered could compete with any five stars hotel.
Nothing to dislike here.

Perfect location to walk to many Colonial zone areas of interest. The Hotel Villa Colonia is a beautiful and peaceful gem with attentive, kind staff and a wonderful breakfast.
4.7
We liked the breakfast, the house itself is beautiful, the pool is also nice.
The location is really good, you can visit by foot all the colonial area.
But what makes this place perfect is Ramon and the other staff members.
Ramon even helped us rent a car at a really good price and helped us after we left with finding a dentist for our son.
We will definitely stay here again when we come back to the Dominican Republic.

They welcomed us (check-in) with beverages and useful information. The room was fully equipped and a tray with local/artisanal goodies was on our bed. Breakfast with Ramon was amazing. The hotel is very colonial and beautiful. 100% recommended.

Super friendly, super helpful staff, led by an awesome, multilingual manager/owner. Lovely building, well-furnished and with an interesting art collection. Beautiful tiled floors everywhere.
Bed was a little soft.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Ramone we knew this was an extra special find. A exquisitely restored property with amazing attention to detail. Ramone give us very detailed local knowledge about restaurants and places of interest in the Zona. Breakfast was amazing beautifully presented with good healthy options. Breakfast dessert a surprise- the French toast looked almost too good to eat. The small pool was refreshing to cool off after sightseeing. We couldn’t fault anything about our stay it was perfect.
4.7
Breakfast included fruits yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, pancakes, French toast, eggs… any style
The cleaning product used has too strong a smell.

Breakfast was excellent. Exceeded our expectations. The on-site manager was great.

staff, breakfast, decor
there was not a tub stopper and staff could not provide one
4.7
The breakfast was delicious and well organized. There was a plunge pool - but we didn't use it as it was raining for most of our visit. Beds super comfy. A varied and pleasant clientele.
There was only one staff member working the front desk - so did not receive a lot of help with unloading and loading all our suitcases on arrival.
4.7
You wont get better breakfast on the whole island. Also you will not find nowhere so attentive crew.
This hotel gives you possibility to truly relax and not thing of anything unpleasent.
Everything is perfect!

4.7
This is a very lovely, well-mantained hotel in walking-distance of all the sights in the old town of the city. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they gave us recommendations and we were even able to take a shower after check-out, before going to the airport, which we very much appreciated. Also the breakfast is absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend and also stay here again.

Hotel was extremely well kept, decorated with great art, comfortable seating areas, lush garden and so tranquil. The Staff (Philip on check-in and Ramon the GM were fantastic) made the experience feel like you were in a home away from home. Ramon the general manager took great care of our family throughout our stay including ensuring an excellent chef's breakfast, great atmosphere all the way to the aromatic smells and music that played softly throughout the lobby and seating areas - highly recommend.
