Great location, really comfortable (and large) apartment

Fantastic to be just 5 minutes' walk from the ancient citadel with all it's restaurants and shops. This UNESCO site is definitely worth a visit. But so is the (slightly) newer part of Carcassonne, just across the river - great shops and relaxing bars and restaurants. The accommodation is on the first floor of an old house just one street back from the river. It reminded us of Logis de France we have stayed in over the years...beautiful old mahogany furniture lovingly polished to a high sheen, period wallpaper and windows. But updated with great modern touches and superb pans in the kitchen. Superbly comfortable super king sized bed in one room and a lovely polished wood sleigh bed in the other. The shower had good water pressure and the bathroom was enormous! The kitchen has an oven, hob and microwave as well as a kettle and coffee maker. And there were lots of nice touches to make our stay comfortable. Caroline speaks really good English and gave us a fantastically warm welcome....as well as helpful restaurant recommendations. And it was a great bonus to be able to park in the driveway immediately outside the property.

We were slightly worried about leaving windows open in one bedroom overnight as the panes were slightly cracked and we were concerned that if the window blew shut it might shatter the glass. Otherwise, everything was great.

Space and facilities, including free parking.

Late check in and couldn’t do from 2pm as all other places.

Superb

It is a wonderful location, in classic French, romantic style. I felt this! Close to the citadel, the bridge, the old center and very good access to the highway. Very good communication with the owners, even if it was online. I will return again@

A lovely French apartment with very generous hosts

So French! Absolutely lovely. Bright and cheery .Clean and comfortable. Great location Easy car parking The stylish kettle was a nice touch.

We needed an extra fan and possibly extra pillows,but not a reason not to stay here.

Lovely spacious appt to visit the historic city

Great apartment, nicely done and feels spacious. Very close to the town centre so easy walk with children. good Car parking place - off road on a quiet street.

NA (hot city but host advised us on best way to keep the appt cool during the day.

Beautiful, spacious apartment. Quiet residential area. Walking distance (+/-1.5km) to both the Cite and the Canal du Midi/ Railway station. Catherine is an excellent hostess; helpful without being intrusive.

Spacious self catering apartment with offstreet parking but short walking distance of the old city.

A large first floor apartment with offroad parking within a short walking distance of the old city. It is an old finished property but is not short of any facilities expected of a self catering accommodation.

Washing machine is in a room on the ground floor. Better communication on this could have been provided. No problem as facility was available.

It was a disappointment.

Located close to the Citadel, so an easy walk of maybe 10-12 minutes.

On arrival, we were disappointed to learn that 2 of the main reasons for booking this property ie Private parking and a garden to sit in were not available to us. We were told we could not share the garden because of Covid, but discovered there was an area that could have been allocated to us under the covered seating area. However, we were willing to compromise, and were promised a table and chairs to sit on the small front patio. The temperature was in the 30's and no such promise was met. We were also promised a partial refund, but 12 days later and nothing has arrived. Inside the property, it must be said that areas that needed to be clean were. But peeling paint, cracked window panes, dirty sagging curtains and old kitchen appliances all added up to a poorly maintained, neglected property in need of proper maintenance. We were also perturbed by the rusty coloured water that left white towels stained yellow. I cannot in all honesty recommend this property to anyone.

One of the best holiday rentals I've ever had : a huge, very clean and very well-appointed apartment. Comfy and welcoming. Parking space directly in front of the house for 1 car. Spacious rooms, massive beds, a bathroom you could almost fit a billiards table in ! 15 minutes' walk from the medieval "Cité", a small grocery store conveniently situated along the route, where you can buy milk, bread and eggs for breakfast the next day. And probably the best collection of holiday books I've ever come across. Pity our stay was only for one night! The Owner was welcoming, helpful and available - and not intrusive. I heartily recommend this flat.

Nice separate apartment on the 2nd floor of the house, located 7-8 minute walk from the Old Town. It has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Washing machine and dryer in a common room on the first floor. Private parking place just to main door of the house. The apartment is enough big and suitable for up to 5 people.
