Great location and neighborhood. House was very clean. Nice backyard. Plenty of supplies in the kitchen and bathroom. Overall was a very nice place to stay. Would definitely book here again.
A couple of things that I might mention is there is not a railing for the steps to the entrance of the house and the front blinds on the bay window are
a bit broken a one missing.

The home was as advertised, and communication was good. Would stay again.

Comfortable home but needs to consider needs of larger groups using 4 bedrooms.
Future considerations:
Handrail for front door steps as steps are of varying depths. Better outdoor lighting for steps after dark. Larger coffee pot. Kleenex limited. Rubber grip pads in shower. Bed continues to be squeaky in main floor bedroom. Our guests were seniors who travel frequently and voiced these concerns about staying again.

Location was ideal for us for this trip to enjoy family.
Inside well maintained and decorated.
Outside needs a little TLC

Worked perfect for our family. We have young children and it was nice to have the fenced in back yard and ample space for them to play. Neighborhood was ok. Good location for getting downtown quickly, close to restaurants. Minor issue with some water seeping up from the kitchen floor on our arrival, but owner was quick to respond.

Quiet neighborhood and clean house. A/C was welcomed and great hot water. Cozy kitchen, comfortable bed. Did need another shade in living room, a new bulb in the bedroom lamp, and TV was a puzzle. But overall a very enjoyable stay. In spite of ongoing street construction(s), easy to get to desired locations, close to grocery store.

This house is very nice and clean. Back yard needs some attention, but we did enjoy it alot, so did our little dogs. We spent alot of time out there. We had some beautiful days to enjoy the weather and just relax. Oh, and one thing we discovered was the cinnamon rolls at La Mie bakery. If you love cinnamon rolls, that's your place. We never did figure out the TV. I think we needed a firestick to get it to work. Overall, our stay was great!

Great place, responsive friendly owners. Great location fir anything you need and travel
To Drake University. We will stay again! Down side in winter maybe that there is no garage - which is fine for a few days.

We did not stay because property was not easily accessible due to construction and lack of lighting to see where the house was located. Porch light was not turned on and address of property was not easily seen at night.

Centrally located, easy to use, full kitchen.

Enjoyed a long weekend here - working part of the time and watching the Drake Relays. The house was lovely - updated and very clean - it looked just like the pictures. The neighborhood was quiet.
Was nice to eat at the table on the back deck when it was nice out - limited table seating inside but didn’t affect us.
Would stay here again!

This is our second time staying at "Birdie" and it's really nicely maintained, even a few updates from our last stay. Always clean and cozy, love that dogs are welcome and the backyard was perfect for that. We got a little snow/frost during our stay and someone even came by to salt the driveway and walkway. WiFi signal could be a little stronger for streaming, but everything else is great.

This little house is charming, welcoming and has everything you need whether you are getting away for a romantic weekend or a family vacation. Very spacious inside even though it looks small from carbide. The fenced in back yard was wonderful for our dog to just relax in, plenty of parking and so quiet. Location is close to several restaurants, grocery stores and nightlife. We will definitely be staying there again when we return to Des Moines.

A smallish property that still manages to include 4 bedrooms (one in basement), but no real dining/common area for gathering around a table for meals or games (other than the living room coffee table). Back yard, altho small, is fenced and dog-friendly. Overall clean and cozy for our long weekend visit. Easy access from 42nd St exit on I-235. (Currently many of the surrounding neighborhood side streets are under construction and completely impassable - but access from 235 no problem.) There's Bruegger's on nearby Ingersoll for morning bagels -- but oddly their indoor dining is closed off: take-out or patio dining available. If you are into pastries -- La Mie bakery is just up the street on 42nd and it is WONDERFUL. Extremely busy on Saturday morning, tho. Greenwood Park and the Art Center are a long walk or extremely short drive away; Downtown and all it has to offer also 5 mins away. (Check out Cinnaholic downtown for custom gourmet cinnamon rolls and Zombie Burger for living-dead themed burgers.)

We had a wonderful time at the property. It was just what we were looking for. Just want to let you know that the upstairs bedroom west outlets were not working.

Good location if visiting Drake University. Very cozy. I would stay again. Host was very responsive.

Enjoyed our stay. House and backyard are very cute. Although it was convenient being close to 235, there was a lot of construction in the area so some roads were closed. I would recommend doing something with the beds - they squeak even when sitting on the edge. Next time we are in Des Moines, we will be looking at staying here again.

great location and easy to get around town. We stayed at the VRBO so we could go to the Farm Progress show in Boone, IA - we had dogs with us and we really appreciated the fenced in yard and the finished basement area for the "dog sleeping room".

The space was perfect! We mainly used the house for sleep since our days were full elsewhere. Our beds were confortable and bedrooms distanced such that we didn’t disturb each other with various bedtimes.
I loved the 1/2 mile walk to the bakery across the freeway!
We would definitely stay there again.

Frustrating
House was clean
Didn’t like that the advertised price was not for the capacity of people that could fit in the house. When I went to book the price went up for each added person when the house was advertised for 10 or 12.
Also had an issue with making the tv work and didn’t get any help from the owner.
So we had to do without.

Cute house in a great location
I traveled with my husband and two small kids. It was a great place for us and really met out needs. We loved the simple but tasteful decorations ( we didn't have to run around hiding breakables or dangerous items from our 2 year old like most houses we stay at . The backyard was mostly shaded with tall trees and it was lovely sitting out there and watching the kids play. It's very close to downtown and the major sights. It's located on a quiet street. One bedroom is upper level , one in the basement, and two on main level. There was a very minor issue we called about. Jackie was right over to fix the issue immediately. She was very friendly and welcoming. Home was very clean. We had a great time.

Our family needed a place to stay in Des Moines while our floors were being refinished.

The house was very clean and rather cute
Several issues..we never got the TV to work. The table and cushions in the backyard looked dirty and we would not use them. No extra toilet paper...we had to buy some. . The garbage disposal didn't work.. Would have liked to know that the third bedroom was in the basement.

The house is in a very quiet neighborhood. Everything was clean and well kept. I was able to get ahold of the owner with questions easily. Also close to downtown and good restaurants. I would recommend.

Grad day stay
Easy to find, convenient location, close to highway yet did not hear road traffic. Home was just as listed and expected, clean and comfortable with fenced backyard for dogs to play bit. Didn't use upstairs bedroom because basement was cool and much more comfortable on extremely hot May day.

A good start…
Seems the owners recently renovated the property and they are off to a good start. There are some aspects that need to be improved - all little things, but they really improve the guest experience. Suggestions include getting hand/face towels I. Addition to existing wash clothes and bath towels, making sure all the beds have mattress pads, getting a larger coffee pot (existing is only a small four cup pot!), some boxes of Kleenex would be nice and a lovely addition would be a bottle or two of water in the fridge upon arrival? One bedroom had a very squeaky bed frame and odd shutters that don’t cover the full height of the windows. Each bedroom could perhaps have a blanket in addition to the coverlet? Just some ideas… with a little more attention to those kinds of things it would be an even lovelier place to stay!!!

Great location for commute to city
We had 4 stay for business in Des Moines. The location is fantastic with many options for food and entertainment. The only complication was one bathroom for 4 bedrooms - but we knew that going in and it wasn’t a problem necessarily. 10/10 - will use again!

As soon as we arrived, we felt right at home. The dogs loved the yard. House was exactly as described/shown and we settled right in. Everything you need is either in the house or within minutes of getting, very conveniently located to just about every place. Quiet neighborhood but you will hear the occasional plane. Price was just right and we will be back as we continue our house hunting. Host was very accommodating and helpful. Thanks for everything. ❤️
