The outstanding features of this hotel are the birdlife ( the hotel puts out feeders for both hummingbirds and fruit eaters, and we spent hours on the terrace watching the birds) and the location right beside the beautiful, wild, Savegre river. Our 2 roomed cabin was spacious and comfortable, with a veranda overlooking the river. The previous day our neighbours had seen quetzals in the garden, though we were not so lucky.
The hotel does not do dinner - but the highly recommended Soda Dona Marlen is just up the road

Lovey comfortable cabins along the river .Breakfast was excellent and family run owners were very friendly and shared local information. The birding is excellent and would highly recommend a bird guide to explore the area.

Staff was very friendly and kind, location is beautiful.
It felt like they were not really open.. there is construction going on next to you at 3 cabins, no restaurant, we had to ask for toilet paper, etc.

Rien.

Angie at reception was very helpful. The staff were very good. The view from the chalet was wonderful. Breakfast was very good.
wifi was very slow and only available in the communal area. The kitchenette was very basic - just a fridge and a coffee maker.

beautiful location and balcony overlooking the river; good standard of furnishings warm in the day. lovely family business Recommend cabs 1&2 only. Very good breakfast included in price. Morning only restaurante overlooking the river
it was freezing cold - no heating but the beds were comfortable and the duvets and blankets provided were very appreciated and good quality.

Beautiful location, staff extremely nice, and great breakfast. We used the guide recommended by the hotel to see the quetzal.... a great moment... Furthermore, we went for the waterfall hike (a little scary but also a great moment for our trip). It's better to have a 4x4 to to come to the place because the village is a the end of a 10% slope for 8 kms (from 3070m altitude to 2300m)
Bathroom was limit regarding its comfort...

Stayed in a few places in Costa Rica and this was my favourite. The owners were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. I loved the cabin with a big wooden deck overlooking the river, stunning. The cabin was very clean and had everything you need and was very cute. A very peaceful and relaxing place. The breakfast was superb with a few choices. There's a great place to eat at night opposite. Quite cold at night but warm during the day with clean air. Just wish I could have stayed longer.
There is nothing negative about this lovely place.

Location was beautiful - in a lovely valley and near excellent walks. Bird feeders really good for seeing birds close up. Breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit and choices for toast etc.
It was a little cold at night but beds were cosy and comfortable

Great location near the river, in a superb garden with hummingbirds, trogons, and yes, even quetzals. Super friendly and helpful staff (Angie saved our evenings when she lent us a small electric heater, and she and her sister pointed us to the quetzals one morning). Great breakfast, best we've had in 3 weeks.
The place is cold - the night we got in it was like 9 centigrades outside as well as inside (in January, we came from the Pacific side with temperatures over 30). The first night was tough, but like I said, Angie saved us by letting us have a small heater which made the cabin habitable.

Breakfast was fantastic. The view was beautiful. The cabin was cute and comfortable
There was no hot water, which was hard since it was already so cold in the room. And the 2nd night, a mouse ran across my bed. In the morning we found a pile of mouse turds on the other bed in the room.

The breakfast was exceptional! The bird feeders and viewing made it all worth while. The staff were very nice and helpful! The birding and Quetzal tours were great which the staff arranged for us.
The cabin was very clean but didn’t have much of a sitting area or table inside, just 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The entryway/sitting area was tiny. There was a nice back porch with beautiful views. I would suggest placing some stepping stones to the entrance of the cabin. It was the start of the rainy season in mid-May and our feet got soaked in the wet grass, this normally wouldn’t be an issue but it was quite cold at this altitude. Would be fine in dry season.

We really enjoyed everything in the place, but the most was the kindness of their hosts and the great customer care they have.
There was nothing we dislike in this place.

location, food , general service was Ok
the fact that if you do the booking though this booking app and then you want to pay with in cash and when you ask WHY? it is because the credit card charges an extra comisión and they tell you that with a tone like you were stupid and you should know they work like that

The bird feeding organized near the dining room.
Very cold at night , because of the altitude.

The breakfast was excellent. Freshly made and large helpings. Homemade ice cream is made in the kitchen and it is delicious. Avocodo ice cream is fantastic. Cabinas are in a great location alongside the Savegre River. There is also a great bird feeder on deck by restaurant that attracts many birds and hummingbirds also. Property is owned by locals and they are super friendly and helpful.
Everything was great.

Central location, overlooking the surging river, in a beautiful wild valley, with garden grounds, walks, hikes and birdwatching all around. Well appointed, with firm beds, ample heavy blankets (you'll need them--nights are COLD), patio hammock. Excellent value compared to pricier resorts nearby. Super hospitality--when I returned from a long trek after all the restaurants closed, family hosts warmed up emergency supper, even though they only offer breakfast (fine hearty breakfast by the hummingbird garden). Helpful information packet includes bird guide.
Shower ran hot only when stopped down to a trickle. Wouldn't be a problem in warmer country...

The customer service is exceptional! The breakfast was great, they had several options and even asked us if we were vegetarian or have any food allergies.
The place was comfy and had everything we needed!
everything was great!

I arrived at the cabins with an overheated engine, when I asked the owner for advice he got to work promptly and replaced my leaking radiator hose. For this alone, i recommend this place. In addition everything was superb.
The wifi connection. The staff was kind enough to direct me to a nearby hotel that had a strong signal where I got caught up on communications. The signal is so weak in the cabins (1 or no bars) that I dont think its honest for the owners to say that the cabins have wifi.
